Chun Jung-myung’s OCN thriller gets summer premiere

This drama changes its name every other day so there’s no telling what it’ll be called by the time it airs, but for now OCN’s next crime thriller formerly known as Crying Game (for all of two minutes), and also Ten Days Ago, is called Reset, and it’s moving up its timetable for a summer premiere following the current forensic procedural God’s Quiz 4. The drama has secured its leading cast with Chun Jung-myung (Queen of the Night) and Kim So-hyun (Suspicious Housekeeper) in a setup that has her playing two roles. And no, one of them is not a doppelgänger spy.

The drama is about a fifteen-year-old murder case with ten days left before its statute of limitations runs out, giving us the perfect timeline for a 10-episode drama. Chun Jung-myung stars as a prosecutor whose first love was the victim of that original crime. He’s obsessed with finding her killer, and has spent his whole career working violent crimes because he can’t let it go.

Kim So-hyun plays two roles — she’ll play both the first love who dies and then a high-schooler in the present day who gets caught up in the case. I’m guessing she becomes a potential next victim, and if she looks so much like the girl who died fifteen years ago, it’s sure to throw both killer and prosecutor into a tailspin. I’m just glad she’s playing her age and that he’ll have been a teenager when he loved her.

Rounding out the supporting cast are Shin Eun-jung (Bride of the Century) as the police section chief, and Park Won-sang (Golden Cross) as an investigative prosecutor, who join the manhunt for the killer. The drama is described as a “memory chase thriller,” whatever that means. Maybe we’ll be solving the old case to prevent the new case, a la Gap-dong? I just hope they’re going to take the thrills part of the thriller seriously.

Reset will air on Sunday nights and premieres August 10.

Kim So Hyun in her first lead role and carrying a whole drama.

Congrats girl!

I feel like dramaland is so impatient for this girl to grow up that they have to create these roles for her....LOL.

I cannot blame them though, since she looks so much much mature than her 13 years of age.

In 3 years or so, with her natural beauty and acting chops, she will have them eating in the palms her hand.

you go little girl!

I'll watch this as I really like her in the dramas I have seen thus far.

Did they mention who will play the younger Chun Jung-myung?

Tell me about it. I feel like a broken record by now. Every time OCN announces a new show, or YJH gets cast in something else, my first thought is "But what about VP 3?!" *sob*

Even when YJH and Han Ga In announced that they were finally having a child, I went from "Congratulations!" to "B-b-but what's going to happen to VP 3?" in less than two minutes. Way to make me feel like a bad person. XD

If they didn't want me to be this attached to the series, then they shouldn't have ended S2 on such a cliffhanger and then apparently circular filed S3. *grumble*

That's how us God's Quiz fans felt when we were kept in the dark for two years. So all I can say is...let's continue to wait and hope. :D

"I’m just glad she’s playing her age and that he’ll have been a teenager when he loved her."

Wait, it means, CJM and KSH still play lovers isn't it? Or there will be teenager version of his character? I still can't see them as lovers because KSH is still a minor.

Chun Jung Myung! I will watch anything with him in it! Okay, maybe I skipped Man of Honor...but I watch everything, well, watchable. I guess what I'm saying is I don't always catch every thriller out there, but this one I won't miss.

Ohhh, that's meant she sorta his first love's incarnation then. Hmm, I'm sure I wouldn't missed the premier though since I like both actors. So, bring it on!

SK has so many talented child actors but even among them, she stands out - I Miss You was truly a breakout for her because until then she usually ended up playing the younger version of the 'bad girl'.

She's incredibly versatile though, and I can't wait for the day she truly graduates to leading lady status in her own right, she's far more talented than a couple of '94-ers I could name who made that jump when they were only a year or two older than her.

(and there better be a teenage actor playing teenage Chun Jung-myung, this casting will be flat-out squicky otherwise!)
