Doctor Stranger pushes premiere, releases teaser
by girlfriday
We’ve got another premiere delay on the horizon for a Monday-Tuesday show, right on the heels of KBS’s Big Man pushing its premiere back two weeks. SBS has announced that it will be delaying Doctor Stranger for a week as well, which puts the first episode in early May. The reason is pretty obvious, since ratings juggernaut Empress Ki ends its 51-episode reign on April 29, just in time to wipe the slate clean for Big Man vs. Genius Man vs. Brother Man. I wonder if KBS will come back with yet another delay for Big Man, just to even the score.
To make up for the extra week of waiting for Lee Jong-seok, we’ll be given a special on God’s Gift on Monday April 28. (Tuesday’s drama hour will be preempted for a baseball game.) Oh okay, I suppose the one thing you could do to appease me while withholding Lee Jong-seok is to give me more Lee Bo-young and Jo Seung-woo. I guess you’re forgiven.
The medical spy melodrama Doctor Stranger released its first teaser, which is surprisingly way more spy drama than medical. Clearly this makes me happy, though I’m scared about getting my hopes up based on the 30-second teaser, only to find that it’ll dispense with the spy stuff after the first episode and everyone will trade in guns for scalpels. Because spies going undercover as genius surgeons is totally believable. Don’t burst my bubble with logic!
Doctor Stranger now premieres May 5.

I will be pleasantly surprised if this drama doesn't suck, she was awful in bridal mask and age of feeling and pretty much every drama she's been in...

Lotsa pressure for a no-talent actress like her. Imagine that, the entire success of the show hinges upon her performance?

Right, because the performance from the LEAD actress doesn't affect the overall drama at all,Nope not at all.How dare anyone criticize an actress who has given consistently mediocre performances and has shown no improvement or growth whatsoever in her recent projects, but yet keeps getting lead roles.Lets just keep re-casting incompetent actresses while robbing other talented actresses the chance to show their abilities.Thank you for your enlightenment.

So many comments about LJS's looks.
More important is whether he can act. I am interested to see if he can go beyond acting a schoolboy. So far, he has done a good job but the verdict is still out there whether he can take more mature or varied roles.
As for looks, give me LJS anytime over the likes of Lee Min Ho. Lee Min Ho is way better looking than LJS but I can watch hours of LJS and maybe minutes of LMH. After years of watching dramas, my tolerance has gone down or maybe my standards have upped. LJS is definitely not up there yet, I prefer watching the older, better and more experienced actors. However for the younger ones, I find LJS watchable. Strangely more so than the other current hot favorite, Kim Soo Hyun. Somehow, his Do Min Joon left me cold.
Let's see if LJS succeeds or fails here. I am actually more excited to see Park Hae Jin.

Looks are so subjective. Give me LJS anytime. LMH does not work for me in the looks department and he couldn't save it since I am not impressed with his acting at all.
Kim Soo Hyun too. But that guy is lucky, somehow. I don't see much of any acting skills from him but somehow his dramas were good and well received. At least in terms of looks I think he fares better than LMH.
I'm so certain that LJS can carry off the role in DS. Look at his eyes. And the rest of his expressions. The guy can act.

Looks are subjective but I think it's safe to say more people will find LMH good looking versus LJS. To be honest, LMH beats LJS if you compare them in still photos side by side. I find LJS's looks rather strange, for the lack of better word. Makes me wonder if the PS rumors are real. However, once they are onscreen, it's a totally different thing. Suddenly LJS attractive me but LMH repulses me.
KSH is kind of sandwiched between LJS and LMH in terms of look. I also do not understand the hype over his acting. He does the same facial expressions from Dream High to The Moon to The Star. Still, his acting is more watchable than LMH. He is not great but not bad. Plus, I think he got the smarts, so he might get better with time.

can't help but agree.
LMH's looks are definitely better than LJS in general. He generally looks more...normal...in that LJS looks a bit strange - there's a reason why his fans say he looks like a cartoon duck. i'm not really convinced he did surgery though.
i've seen LMH's photos and gone *-* but for the case of LJS, it was only through his acting which got me attracted. i probably flipped past his pictures a couple of times and didn't take much notice of those, until i became a fan from watching his dramas (he needs to take up better movies though)
tbh i don't think KSH is handsome either, but he's probably more "normal-looking" than LJS, so yeah. idrk about his acting but i thought the hype over his acting in The Stars was a little too much? it was good, but not fantastic.

You have the same problem as GaryKing (11.4.1). Just hit refresh, baby.
I'm not sure about LMH being better looking than LJS. I feel that he looked quite common. There are plenty like him on the streets. Whenever I think of him the words plain and big nose pops out. Um, sorry fans but that's really how I feel.
But I agree that LJS's biggest attraction lies in his acting or x factor or whatever. Because that guy lits up the screen. He may not look as good always in stills but when he is in a drama, oh boy you can feel it! But no, he don't look strange. In fact I know some people who has almost similar looks as him, just not as good looking.
PS? Who knows and who cares? I mean everyone's doing it now from entertainers to common people. It is probably more common for Korean artistes to do it than not.
However, taking a closer look at LJS's older pictures (before secret gardens), the only difference really is the cheeks which is really thin now. But I believe that's due to tremendous loss of weight. The older pictures (when he looked a lot more 'normal') has a fuller cheek. But you'll also notice that the legs and generally the whole body is more filled up than now.
So yeah, I think he lost a lot of weight and gained that killer cheeks.

I think actor like
Lee Jong Suk
Kim Soo Hyun
Lee Min Ho
will be the next... Jo In Sung, Lee Jung Ki that in their early career had issue with their 'preety' look that not so great at acting.. But as time passes by, they've become better, I don't say GOOD but better.

Haters.. haters... Everywhere.
Poor JSY. She don't deserve it.
I know a lot of actresses and singers who do not have even half the talent she has.
I really don't understand. She has charisma. She is funny too. And very friendly. She doesn't deserve so much hate. I do not know if this is envy or many people who just like to repeat what others say because they can not have their own ideas ... Anyway I think the haters always have an opinion and that makes them very boring people.
I like JSY's job as producers and people in Korea otherwise she didn't get much work.

i don't understand the hate on JSY. i think her acting is not terrible and she's actually a decent actress. not fantastic but not bad either compared to other young actress her age
bear in mind that she's just a 94-er and not someone who start as a child actress. and she's always casted in heavy themed dramas
she's easy on eyes and so pretty and i believe there's still rooms for her to improve her acting

I'm going to watch this for LJS, but only for LJS. JSY is a thorn in the side of actual acting, and I have my theories as to how she's getting all these roles (which I will not state here because some JSY fangirl will kill me probably). I don't find her engaging, emotive, or really anything special. Even though I cried during BM's end, I was kind of glad that I didn't have to deal with her character (or her) anymore. I liked Rie anyway (much better character and actress).
If JSY stays out of the way during this drama, I'll be happy. If her character dies, I'll be happier. If her character never gets to taste LJS lips, I'll be the happiest.

Not taste his lips? Haha. Some fangirl alert there.
And though I do not know what your theory is, let me just reitertate that JSY is a 1994er and her first major role was when she was 17. So whatever your thinking right now, it is highly unlikely. That and well she rarely gets the initial offer anyways and ends up in a string of "replacement" calls. If she were the top cast for all the roles that you mentioned then I would raise suspicions, but she isn't.
Food for thought. From a male fan.

Actually, I really don't think she acts well. Like I said earlier in the post, I didn't like her in Gaksital and I dare say she probably hasn't improved since then.
I'm really not that jealous. I like him, but he's not everything and anything in the world. I don't think she's getting these roles on her own effort, though.
Frankly, I don't care about anyone's arguments about how 'good' she is or how old she was when she got her first major role. Age doesn't account for good/bad acting. I'm also seven years older than she is and have probably seen better acting when I was in high school than what comes from her (which is blank, blank, blank, more blank, even blanker, and mostly blank). That's an opinion from watching her, not from jealousy.

So love your last paragraph! I too, will be the happiest. I liked IHYV but couldn't stop thinking I wanted to murder Lee Bo Young in those kissing scenes! There's only one pair of lips I'll excuse on his, if it's not on mine...... Kim Woo Bin. Eeeeekkkkk! I said it!! Now you guys know I'm a shallow shipper!

To me Jin Se-yeon looked very different in the stills of Dr Stranger. I remember her. I have seen her in My Daugther The Flower. She has a certain innocence that endears me but... I have difficulty trying to place the feelings she tried to emote in MDTF. Not all the time though. Nevertheless, great to see her with LJS and wonder what kind of chemistry both of them will have together.
Finally, I am so happy to have LJS back in drama land and not as a high schooler.

It's strange that some people here keep mentioning Lee Jong Suk looks strange. What is? So many posts indicated the same term but not one gave a reason.
But a random check on Korean star plastic surgery kept turning up pictures of Lee Min Ho's before and after pictures. Most of the articles and responses indicated that it's almost an undeniable fact that he had gone under the knife. Especially his nose.
Er, more natural? Sorry to dash the dreams of fans.
