More photos from Pretty Man, this time from the drama proper as well as its poster shoots. I must say, while the story still seems riddled with question marks, the pictures do look super cute, featuring our lead couple played by Jang Geun-seok and IU. (I don’t understand in what universe she could be considered completely and utterly ordinary-looking, but I suppose it’s fiction for a reason.)

And this is a shallow point, but I know I am not the only one rejoicing at the new haircut for Jang Geun-seok. Huzzah for sharpness and sleekness and change! I don’t actually dislike the long wavy shampoo-commercial tresses on him—it’s just that he’s had the same look for so long that I missed how it was back in the day when he was rocking a new style for every project. (Or week to week, as in the case of You’re Beautiful where he went through hairstyle concepts on a regular basis.)

The scene on the bus pictured directly below actually comes from a flashback segment (which explains the hairdo change), when middle schooler Kim Bo-tong (IU) first sees the high schooler oppa and is smitten with adolescent puppy love, kicking off a one-sided crush to span the next decade. Oh, honey. I feel for you, even though I know you’ll get your man at the end of 16 episodes. Hopefully sooner, to make up for all that lost time pining. But first, she’ll have to compete with all the top-tier successful ladies he’ll be romancing before he sees the light and falls for her back. Fingers crossed that the process makes sense and all that. With the director of Flower Boy Next Door and Flower Boy Ramyun Shop onboard, I’m hoping for fun, zippy things to come.

Pretty Man will air on KBS following Secret and premieres on November 20.

ah, these are cute. like I say alll the time about this drama, despite all the crazy , this "special child", this "odd one out", I still like him.

as a textile buff I must say again I like that skirt fabric, and the small dotted sweater, but not so much those roses. the yellow and pink are totally my colors. but how is that average? most people around me never wear bright colors. I would say clothes like that are definitely not average, but special.

Based on personal experience, I can sort of see how that might not be considered pretty or fashionable, in a sense (one of my favourite, most regularly-worn ensembles in college involved a large red summer jacket over a black tshirt/black-and-white shirt and a floor-length woolly skirt with red and black checks).

The things IU is wearing are like the more stylish version of what I wore back then, and I know for sure I used to get called crazy, not special lol. It's totally believable that a girl who dressed like that would run into situations where not everyone gets her style.

I agree. He's weird no doubt about that, but I like him. He's believable, even when I hate the drama or the movie I usually like JGS. I like IU, too I think she's adorable in that "girl next door" way. Which I guess could be considered "average". She's not super model beautiful, she is just a cute girl. Maybe the drama means "average" compared to the other ten women...

Lol, wow. Looking at IU's fashion, it totally reminds me of my middle school days where I experimented (not like punk or anything) with these/those accessories to spice up my "fashion". I think it has a sort of kitschy-charm. There is obvious effort in appearance, but it's a juvenile concept? I love the looks IU has right now.
Also, to all the people that say that IU looks too pretty to be "average", remember, there was a time when she got rejected like over 20 times for looking too "normal" or even "ugly".

I love IU's Adidas jacket and choker ensemble in the pics up there, I adore those jackets anyway but fuchsia looks so young and fresh on her. And the choker + short hair reminds me of Natalie Portman in Leon (best performance of NP's career, imo).

And I do like JGS's checked suit and wavy Elvis-y pouf.

She's really pretty, but there's still something of the 'girl next door' about her - otherwise, I do agree, nothing about her face is really 'ordinary' at all (and while it is not at all difficult to be a better actress than Suzy, I think IU's expressiveness and ease onscreen are what add to her charm for me.).

She has a baby face, but I don't think that's a bad thing. As someone who also has a baby face something I hate is constantly being told that I look too young or childish to do something (ie drink), or being asked my age during social situations. That's why I avoid drinking in public at bars/restaurants, and try to stick close to friends during parties otherwise people think I'm a random teenager trying to crash a grown up party.

So agree to you about looking too young and hating it! especially when going out! And that comes from someone who's 28! LOL
My friends are all younger than me by 1,2 or 3 years and most of them pass as older while I get asked if I'm allowed to drink or buy liquor! LOL
Sometimes its a certain advantage of looking younger than your real age. Sometimes it proves to be a definite disadvantage!

And agree with some other comments: IU looks very young! And JGH looks much better in this stills! So mature and somewhat not awkardingly feminine. But still. CUT YOUR HAIR AND BECOME MANLY AGAIN!

I'm right there with you. I just turned 28 and everyone thinks I'm a freshman in college. I'm at the point where I'm flattered now though. One of my sisters is 4 years younger than me and people ask if she's old enough to drive. Our other sister is the youngest, but also the tallest by a good 5 inches and people assume she's the oldest - it makes her so pissed.

I haven't watched JGS in anything since I managed to find the movie My Pet (which I mostly adored b/c I loved the J dorama Kimi wa Petto). I've read a couple articles about how out there JGS is, and all I can tell him is keep owning it. I can appreciate the entertainment value. I think I'm going to check out this drama - the stills are adorable.

Same here. Very iffy about the storyline. But IU appears to fit this role perfectly, and she and JGS look so cute together. Not expecting anything mind-blowing but will check this drama out just because of the stills alone.

IU (does anyone know her actual name? This always sounds ridiculous) looks so damn cute. I love her hairstyle and the bright colorful clothing she's wearing. If she's this beautiful but supposed to be Averagina, then Han Chae-young must be exploding with hotness. Meanwhile, JGS is looking better with this new style. So glad he's not sporting the long, wavy tresses that kinda looked like IU's tresses. Now I'm looking forward to watching this drama.

dear all,

the shoots were taken before hair sacrifice. guess they ll expose the new JGS hair transformation in the last minute before the show air or at least at press con.

am looking forward this drama and prep for every response after, good or bad ones.
OOT, well there will be no more GeunGeun couple from now on. will there be GeunIU after this?

Sigh. It's just that.. It's been a while since I've seen JGS in a decent hairstyle. I'll take any style that can atleast shake off his current idol image out of my head when he's acting.

Jo, I dont think his BV hair style look good for him, for this drama and real liff. since he does nt reveal it yet, so cant figure out what kind of hair style he is supporting. think he keeps wavy in the front and back short hair. he gave us a hint in his weibo. I cant wait to witness the after sacrifice by my self.

I dont know but I am sure JGS will handle his Dok go matte perfectly. He is talented actor and never let people down. Hoping for great writing script for this drama, as the writer did for past movie works.

I guess this will be the last drama before army duty. I am really sure.

The drama stills are good. They look good together. Good writer and cast with good chemistry.

Initially, i don't really like the plot given the summary. But looking at the pics, i am more interested now. Just hope that the writer will be able to make good changes/adaptation from the original manga.

Actually his hairstyle looks pretty similar to what he had in Love Rain. Which he had taken the risk of cutting it really short though like a regular guy haircut. But then again he's supposed to be the Pretty Man. IU looks quite the part.

I'll tell you whose hair I don't like in the stills: IU's. It's too short and fans out from her face too much. She looks cute otherwise, and Jang Geun Soek looks teen idol perfect in the first (flashback bus scene) photo, angelic even. I hope that either DramaFever or Vicki will carry this one, as I'm really looking forward to it.

I've noticed the same thing...too much foundation on the men, PLUS, too much color on the lips as well. Their lips are looking too pink and rosy for a guy. Noticing that on LMH in Heirs and noticed it a few times on JJS in YTBLSS.

Actually, I loooove JGS since I first saw him in that movie "Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do" and "Baby & Me" when....uhmmm....I was in freshman or sophomore at high school, keke! :D

Dont know why prefer jang guen sheok with short hair.....his hair is so girly here.....
And iu bieng ordinary is a bit far fetched idea....
Well...just hoping that the series wont be another playfull kiss with he herione chasing the hero forever and the hero falling in love with the stalker herione.....

the idea probably is similar to one of my favorite Taiwanese drama. Another good pair :-)
Thanks to who has good eyes for selecting good pair for the dramas. Stories can't not be new any more now a day, so I prefer to watch the good pair of actors together or good cast in dramas instead.
