Cute, romantic teaser for time-traveler Mi-rae’s Choice

Interesting—the upcoming time-travel KBS drama Mi-rae’s Choice (also translated Future Choice) looks a lot more cute and light-hearted than I was anticipating. With just the description to go on, I’d presumed it would be mostly dramatic as Yoon Eun-hye is somehow confronted by her older self, who finds a way to travel back to her thirtysomething version to warn her about her future. As in, don’t marry Lee Dong-gun. (And I’m wondering, why the heck not? I hope there’s a good reason that doesn’t involve him being a serial killer or lowlife.)

In the whimsical trailer, we see Mi-rae (Yoon Eun-hye) mulling over her dilemma: Lee Dong-gun is “the man I want to love,” but Jung Yong-hwa is “the man I have to love.” I’m a little puzzled since wouldn’t you want to end up with the guy you want to love, not the one you feel you ought to? Ah, well I’m sure the show will answer that in due course. At least Mi-rae knows it’s hardly the worst problem in the world to have, as she smiles and the caption tells us, “It’s a happy choice and dilemma.”

Then Choi Myung-gil shows up as the 2043 version of Mi-rae and the question becomes “Who is the heroine dealing with this happy problem?” Both ladies wrestle to claim the remote control (cute metaphor) and wonder, “Me?” Haha. I do hope that is a metaphorical representation of the conflict and not that we’ll actually have them fighting over who gets the right to drive the Mi-rae bus, because doesn’t that defy the laws of time and space or something?

In any case, while I hadn’t been thinking that Mi-rae’s Choice would be in the romantic comedy vein, I won’t be disappointed in the least if that’s what we get. I have yet to see Jung Yong-hwa come alive in any of his acting roles (which is funny since he’s much more engaging as himself, I think), but I’m looking forward to watching the sparks fly between Yoon Eun-hye and Lee Dong-gun. I’ll be crossing my fingers that the show can deliver on the tone of this preview—comedic, bright, and a little dreamy.

Mi-rae’s Choice will follow Good Doctor on Mondays and Tuesdays, premiering October 14.

Wow. Is any one as crazy as me and started the Potato star? Well, I cant resist, its Yeo Jin Gu's first leading role. Anyhow, I still hope all of them will be good, Heirs, Answer Me 1994, Basketball, Mirae. I like that problem, having too much good dramas to watch.

2013 been not really good for me, the last time I went crazy for a korean drama has been too long.

I'm sad they only aired 2 episodes for potato star this week considering ha yeon soo's accident but i too could not help but check out potato star. I actually really enjoyed it -- raw and all.
Ha Yeon Soo is hilarious (although her character is candy-like) and yeo jin is irresistible.
I saw some stills of their first kiss and i thought. Heck, already? Isn't this show like 100 something episodes. They're really speeding up on the romance.

I dont think they will be speeding the romance. I hope not, at least. The kiss more likely will be one of the already like the other or a dream sequence.

I only saw ep 1. It wasn't interesting, and I didn't see Yeo JG in it, so I have all but forgotten it. Now that you mention Yeo JG, I must check out ep 2+ this coming weekend.

well, I think that hair perhaps distract you a little but I'm sure it won't prevent you to enjoy Eun Hye's bubbly character and the drama ^^

I just can't get over her hair.

Who thought it was a good idea to give her a perm?!

Choi Myung Gil's hair is looking pretty funky at this point too. Is Mirae just a character with bad hair or something?

Haha, I think it is the director's idea, man. And that man know better than us to make a good drama. so just compromise it a little for now. Just hold it until the first episode to decide if you can get over the hair or not. Perhaps, in the end you gonna fall in love with Eun Hye's charm and forget about the hair..

I pick the smouldering LDG. So hot, someone had to pour water on the poor man!
But I want to know, too, why she doesn't want to love him.

I don't understand the hullabaloo with the hair! YEH is stepping in to the shoes of Mirae and has to look and act like her which, according to how she internalized it...frizzy hair. We've always wanted credibility in acting and this is precisely what she is doing. I am sure we are a bunch of reasonable individuals who will---I hope not---not forego watching a drama just because we don't like the actress's coiffure?!

Okay, I'm going to be totally honest with you and say that I actually couldn't watch Wild Romance because I thought Lee Shi Young's wig (?) was so horrendous. (Also the premise of the show sounded boring.) But more so, I hated her hair so much that it was all I could focus on. (And I really like Lee Shi Young!) But hair is a pretty big deal for me personally so what can I say? I acknowledge that that is horrid and shallow but it is the truth. On the bright side tho, that show was apparently terrible so it seems like I didn't miss out.

I don't think the perm is a bad look for Yoon Eun-Hye though so it doesn't bother me here.

There are people out there with hair types like mi rae's, yknow. Be mindful. Keep it respectful and classy.
It's not like they're using the permed hair to make a statement with anything age-related, which is something we know has been overused in k-dramaland. It's just part of her character.

I can not wait for this drama, I'll certainly see, and regarding her hairstyle seems to me that looks adorable and cute, very few people can wear a curly as well as it looks YEH, I count the days to which is October 14.

Oh, I was just expecting the reason to be because Yonghwa's character is rich. Heh.

Either way, I've missed Lee Dong Gun on my screen.

Wow, I didn't even recognize Yoon Eun-Hye at first with that hairstyle! She looks so young in this teaser like she could play a high schooler and get away with it. I think it's her mannerisms too - she seems a little childish. Perms usually age people but they make her look younger - how strange.

Still this actually does look really cute. I wasn't paying much attention to it before but if you guys pick it up or have a good impression of it, I might give it a try. I'm not sure how I'll find the time though with so many potentially promising new shows starting soon. Although like Mirae, that's a good problem to have, I suppose.

Thanks for the update!

the hair suits her....with the hair color, though its permed radiated her flawless skin more and made her look like an angel a cherubim that is......if a person is really beautiful whatever you do with the hair it will show and with YEH's case it showed that is just my opinion. Can't wait for this drama.... the teaser is really teasing me to the max! I love the beautiful cast!

Ok I am with you there javabeans- Jung Yonghwa is so much more entertaining in real life, if you only saw him on screen you'd have to wonder how anyone could be so dull.

If he does another part where he plays someone kind and well-meaning, solid and dependable, and we don't see him on-screen for extended periods of time, he should have a successful run.

He can't act; everyone says he's a nice guy and a great stage performer, but I wish he would just stop with the dramas lest he suck any unwary bystanders down with him into that gray hole (it's not dynamic enough to be black) of mediocrity.

I am so exstatic about lee donggun's comeback. Old habits die hard. I loved him back in the day and still feel the same way today.

Even cooler is the fact that he's paired up with yeh. Even if they have zero chemistry offscreen, I hope that the seasoned actors that they are can just turn it on when the cameras are rolling. :)
