Yoo Hae-jin to be newest member of 1 Night 2 Days

So… this is a surprise. KBS variety show 1 Night 2 Days lost a member in Kim Seung-woo this past week, and though the rumors about possible new members were leaning more in the comedian direction, the announcement has been made that film actor Yoo Hae-jin will be the one to replace him. It’s less surprising if you think of it as simply finding another Seung-woo, as in — another mat-hyung (Yoo Hae-jin is 43), a good character actor, probably a great guy. I just thought they were heading in another direction entirely, what with a cast already half-full of amiable actor types. I feel like this cast could use a more out-there personality, but they may have decided that trying to maintain a similar vibe is the better bet.
Yoo Hae-jin has too many film credits to name, but throw a stone and you’ll hit a movie he’s in. Some of the bigger ones: Moss, The Unjust, Jeon Woo-chi, Tazza. He can range from badass to hilarious, so I hope that means he’ll translate to variety awesomeness. He does have one key advantage over the Gag Concert comedians or other known variety stars — he’s fresh and unexpected, and there isn’t that feeling of: Oh, YOU AGAIN. Don’t I see your face everywhere?
Of course, the other, more nervous side is: Ajusshi, you’re not gonna suck, right? I don’t think he will. He’s been on Running Man, and he joined Lee Seon-kyun on his cross-country hike, so he’s tested the variety waters. He’s very much like Seung-woo in that he’s a respected actor with a friendly demeanor, so I don’t doubt he’ll be well-liked by the other boys right away. I just hope he’s willing to be uncool for a laugh. Someone with that many comedies on his resume has to be okay with that, yeah?
We have a few more weeks before we have to say goodbye to Seung-woo and Bird (*sniff*), and then Yoo Hae-jin and the new PD will join the boys on the March 29 trip, which will air in early April.

Seems that the SIM Ent. boys all gathered up in 1N2D.. Yoo Hae Jin, Uhm Tae Woong and Joo Won.
Now I want to see my unnie, Uhm Jung Hwa as their guest.
Yeah, definitely, I rather see unknown faces especially actor in 1N2D. Who knows the suave Uhm Tae Woong and angsty Joo Won that we see in drama can be that adorkable :-)
I guess the actors like UTW, JW and CTH will click together easily with YHJ.
Sobs sobs, I'm gonna miss Seug Woo oppa. He was funny in yesterday's episode.

he's a very good actor. the last i saw him was in the film "Miss Conspirator" aka "Miss Go" with the beautiful Go Hyung Jung. I never knew he could be that handsome until i saw the movie. Maybe it's because of his role =)

I'm really sad for Seung-woo and Bird PD to leave but at least the producers is smart to bring in Yoo Hae-jin! Yeap, this is surprising and I'm happy with this choice!
On a side note, I'm really worried for the future of 1N2D. Yesterday's ratings was 14%, and it keeps dropping... What happened? Please be good, Korea, please watch this show! :'( *IF* 1N2D ends.. no...

Because people are turning in MBC to watch their new show, Daddy where are we going? This show involved kids and their fathers... so I guess it's attracting most people, since it's a family theme ~'~ Still, I think 1N2D is a lot better! Just hoping that rating will turn around or else KBS would definitely cancel this show any moment... *sad face*

Wow, you're not kidding! The Gag Concert comedians are WAAAAY overexposed. As much as I like them on their own show, I'm starting to get sick of them when I see them on every other show. KBS must really like this new group. But please stop beating us over the head with them.
And while I'm here, the same handful of hosts/MCs are used on every program (sometimes all of them at once!). Aren't there any other hosts in the nation that can be used?!! How about a fresh face every once in awhile?

I was going to quote the same passage and say essentially the same thing. Good thing I decided to look through the comments first!
I like the Gag Concert guys and was wondering how they would fit into the current 1n2d setup (e.g., would Brownie the stuffed dog make a guest appearance?), but I agree that they're everywhere so this is an interesting departure.

But I guess I can be biased too. I wouldn't mind seeing the same handful of hosts/MCs used on every program, if I like them, e.g. I quite enjoyed watching Win Win, coz I can see the 1n2d guys there again. And I didn't mind watching Hodong anywhere - watched Moonlight Prince coz of him, but the show's not really that fun to me, so it's not on my must-see list. I guess I just don't quite fancy the Gag Concert folks much. I personally felt that I enjoyed the old Happy Together & Qualifications Of Men better when they weren't in it.

I don't know this guy coz well, I only watch 1N2D Season 2. But after reading gf comments, feeling much assured that he's a good replacement of KSW.
Yeah, sad to know the rating dropped to 14% :( but guess, it'll make its comeback soon.
Not sure why, but personally I think 2D1N S2 should do more special episode. I can tell the members get brighter whenever they have guests with them & things just naturally be more interesting.

Wow, hope he's good.
I am excited about how the dynamics with all the other boys will work out.
I hope he's as good-natured as KSW, but also not afraid to make fun of himself.
Also, I agree with wLenny up there ^. I want more special episodes! Like, how about bring in their most recent leading lady, or some young lady counterpart? The idea of 7 girls squealing "oppa!" tickles me. hehe

Ha... at least no wondering and guessing if there would be any female fatale or... whomever he may be (although I haven't yet reach that far... still thinking if I would see SW again in the next episode, with Bird PD).
I saw him once at Moss... Yes, he was scary and good at portraying his role. And I also watched when he was interview or at the premiere of several of his movie.
Wow, he will be a good match to SK, he's tall indeed and he's strong... But, since he's still single, then the bachelor team will always be in the lead or and forever the married team will be ruined again, ahahaha.... I'm such an evil.
Welcome abroad, I wish you success and can bound with the others very, very, very well...
I wonder if he likes to eat like SK?

I'm not sure what to think about "Daddy Where are you going?" The kids are really cute, but being mean to the kids in the tradition of variety shows rubs me the wrong way. Do they have to make a kid cry every episode?

True, it's a cute variety show. The variety concept sure is refreshing..but it's friggen kids and kids are hard to work with. Having them last for as long and to become as legendary as 1n2d is impossible. After a while, the "omg they're soo such qtzzz" will die down and their ratings will drop.

That's what I thought at first... but actually it's quite good. I find it interesting especially when the kid and his dad who weren't very close started bonding through these trips. It's like 1n2d meets Hello Baby, except with real fathers. I don't think it'll ever be quite as popular as 1n2d in its prime, but I think it's giving season 2 a run for its money.

I'm more curious about what the new PD has to bring to the table. Is he more like a softie like Bird PD? Or a yes-man to the network to get the ratings up? Or more like the hard-ass Na PD? Whatever his style is, it's going to affect the show more than the new member.
Speaking of Na PD, the Human Condition is awesome and so addictive. I didn't really care for the Gag Men because they're everywhere these days, but Na PD bought out the best and worst of them. He turned mundane situations and actions in real life into something that's hilarious yet heart-warming. His methods may be sadistic, but I call that having an eye for good TV. I hope DB recap an episode in their Variety Show Roulette one day.

The biggest problem with actors are their really hectic schedule when they're live shooting for a drama and the difference between real life persona/ variety persona vs drama persona. I'm really hoping this wont affect YHJ.

He is funny in RM so maybe he will do just fine. Dunno about his relationship with CTH and UTW but I'm sure it would be fun to watch. Wonder whether JW will switch hero hyung??
On comedian, I agree with your statement. I actually hoping they cast Yang Sanguk rather than Heo KyungHwan or Kim JooHyun. He is funny and smart in Human Condition.

the problem is that season has too many repetitive games.
maths multiplication went on and on. yut throwing sticks too.
guess this is the production team way of having less physically demanding games. but way too much repetition.
another thing is that sae pd is too nice. domestic viewers r customed to season 1 loud and competitive vibe.
sae pd wanted 'likeable personalities' on the show, and he too fell into the bromance with them, it's hard not to. so who can blame him. and he became the '8th member' who is sympatetic and nice towards them rather than being the 'bad pd'.
on the other hand, plus points are the genuine bromance between the members and alot of heart.

I AM SO HOPELESS WITH THE NEW MEMBER. I KNOW HE IS A GOOD ACTOR, BUT I DON'T REALLY SURE THAT HE IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR VARIETY SHOW.
I THINK KBS MADE A FATAL MISTAKE !!! I KNOW THAT KIM SEUNG WOO WANT OUT BECOZ WANT TO FOCUS ON ACTING AND COZ OF BIRD PD'S EXIT. BUT KBS IS A BIG TV WHO HAVE MANY POWER WHY THEY DON'T USE THEIR ALL RESOURCES AND ALL EFFORT TO MAKE KIM SEUNG WOO KEEP STAY ON 1N2D.

Ohhh... No... I really enjoy watching Bird PD. Damn, he really looks like a bird ^_^
Not sure bout the new cast.. not an interesting choice though.

Okay, I must admit that this came as a surprise... I am really just hoping for the best honestly! It's funny though because that's exactly what I thought about Seung Woo ahjussi but he definitely exceeds all our expectation right? So I'm hoping he'll be a great addition...
I must admit though, I am really worried about 1N2D in terms of rating, don't get me wrong, I freaking LOVE LOVE LOVE this show but the way KBS is cancelling show left & right, who knows what they'll do?! *praying to Variety Gods that they won't* Also, MBC's Dad, Where Are You Going? is freaking AH-DO-RA-BLE, I'm not surprised that people are liking that show every week because I am. There's just something about kids, their innocence, and honesty that are just so damn addicting to watch.
Man, I really hope they won't cancel any of my favorite shows, it's the highlight of my week waiting to watch ALL THREE: 1 Night 2 Days, Running Man, & Dad, Where Are You Going?

Haha LOLsz, that's me being totally engrossed in "The Land". All thanks to Arirang TV airing it three times during the weekends. XP And he's famous too because of his lips (one episode of "Happy Together S3" had a guessing game, and the participant puckered up his lips, and correctly guessed "Yoo Hae-jin" XP).

since Kim Seung Woo will depart soon, i will depart too from 1n2d. Maybe just watch it if i miss the other members coz i watch Korean program just because of Kim Seung Woo.
even i don't know anything about yoo hae jin, but i hope 1n2d s2 will beat the other variety show.

@eve : your point are absolutely true.
the worst thing on win win show who got cancelled just becoz KBS need slot (air time ) for kang ho dong.
the problem is the rating win-win show (when ksw did the MC ) is on good rating, if u want compare to Moonlight Prince (kang ho dong show) which got really bad and lower rating plus the peter pan wardrobe which made me puke.
its really ironic coz, its really rare seeing a big tv cancelled a show who got steady and good rating just becoz they want their beloved comedian kang ho dong to be back on kbs. i mean, know we can see, even kang ho dong cannot did anything on rating. its a big mistake by kbs to cancelled win-win, now kbs served that rights.
i don't know what on kbs's mind, but i thing its really crazy seeing kbs decision like that, maybe kbs or some director of kbs got personal issue with ksw .
like u said, there are many show that related to ksw seem got blocked by kbs. untill now, i can't accept kbs decision. becoz obviously, KSW can do comedy besides acting like he did on 1n2d, why kbs didn't force ksw to stay on 1n2d , he did a good job, why have to let go of him.....arrgghhh.
maybe some of u will say, hey ksw said he wanted to focus on acting. oh come on...... its only a polite reason!! for a big star in korea is really rare to announce the real reason, almost every star who got the same problem like ksw always said : '' FOCUS on ACTING " , a lame reason.
next time kbs, use u'r damm brain and u'r logic reason when u want to cancelled a show or kicked out some member on a show .

Do you know who I'd have wanted to see on 1n2d? Hong Kyung Min!!! It just crossed my mind now, as I remembered he's good friends with CTH. But he's got a musical lined up and I think he's happier doing that. I wouldn't mind seeing him as a guest again!! For a full episode this time round :D

when Win Win stil aired, i always watch the show... always excited to see who was the guest and the story they brought..
so when it stopped by KBS and replaced by Moonlight Prince (just because KHD) made me curious to watch how good that program, and OMG just one episode enough for me to say HOW BORING THAT PROGRAM!!!! and HOW BIG MISTAKE THAT KBS DONE TO CANCELLED WIN WIN!!!!
HOPEFULLY KBS DIDN'T DO THE SAME MISTAKE AGAIN IF SOMEDAY THEY DECIDE TO CANCEL MY MOST FAVORITE SHOW 1N2D

OMG, i met Sung Shi Kyung at Sunrise Peak, Jeju around 3.30 pm today. He was filming 1n2d. Javabeans: i nearly fainted when he approached me after i screamed out his name :-D It was d best day of my life hehe
