Gong Hyo-jin courted to headline new drama

Whoo, there’s a new drama in the works, and it’s wooing Gong Hyo-jin to be its leading lady. *happy dance* The drama, called I Can Hear Your Voice, is being produced by the company behind hit drama Queen of Housewives, and is currently being shopped at KBS. (There were reports that it was in the running to follow Monday-Tuesday drama Ad Genius but that’s looking less and less likely.)

The drama will be about a group of court-appointed public defenders, who represent the bottom-of-the-barrel cases. They’re assigned in particular to the defendants whose chance of innocence is less than 1%. I suppose you could look at it like, they’re so awesome they get handed the hardest cases, but I’m thinking it’s less a compliment and more of a punishment — a lesson in the harsh life of the underdog attorney.

Writing is Park Hye-ryun, of the sitcom Nonstop and Dream High (to be clear, just the first one). That makes me excited for the team underdog aspect of the drama, because Dream High was such a great little story about a group of lovable misfits who followed their dreams. It had heart and humor and charm, so I’m looking forward to seeing what this writer will do next.

If she signs on, Gong Hyo-jin will play Kang-soon, a jaded public defender who will gradually recover a sense of justice. No word yet on a hero, but I can think of a few (okay, twenty) leading men I’d like to see her paired up with. As long as we’re making wish lists, can this drama be a cute workplace rom-com underdog tale with a dash of idealism and heart? *puppy eyes*

I Can Hear Your Voice is hoping to premiere in early April.

Also - I can't help but hear drama titles talking in my head:

Like, "Can you hear my heart?"

    "I can hear your voice"

    LOL! :P

I want Jung Woo Sung. I prefer her with someone little bit older than her, a mature gentleman kind of guy (not those flower boy).

But I do pray that she'll take on this drama or any drama. I miss her. Come back Hyo Jin unnie. Drama hasn't been really special without you.

Why not? (Sincerely out of curiosity)

I wouldn't say I am a big fan of hers, but she definitely stands out from the rest of the cookie cutter actresses. At least I can tell her apart from the rest, lolol.

And she can act (though I would say she's pretty limited by her girl-next-door face).

He is the first one I always think of, too, but he has sooooo many film projects going, there is really no way he would do the sweat shop work of a drama.
Not only acting in films, but directing.

I feel like even if he didn't have all the projects, it would have still been avoided lest dating rumors start up again, lol. Poor Ha Jung Woo already got publicly friend-zoned, let's not make that happen again XD.

I don´t know who could play the male lead, but I would like it to be neither the accused nor a cynical prosecutor. Instead it would be great if it were a guy who was carefree and thought it wouldnt matter at all if people were criminals or not. and maybe has become a prosecutor or lawyer just cause it pays good.
the question is: can people who are good in their job but without any idealism hold other peoples´ fate in their hands? what is the priority: winning the cases or caring?

Anyhoo, he has mentioned that he will be involved in a production (be it movie or tv series) come this March… so this is pretty timely news, no? *crosses fingers*

"Writing is Park Hye-ryun, of the sitcom Nonstop and Dream High (to be clear, just the first one)."

haha..I couldn't help but smile at that. I hated the first few episodes of fluff but once they got into the stories , I felt for the characters. Unlike the sequel!

Couldn't it be someone else? I don't care for her - she ruined it for me in Pasta, in Let's go to school..., and a couple of others - she always plays exactly the same way, like it's the same character over and over. So boring and non-creative. There are so many talented actresses out there. I hope they turn her down and get someone else.
