Jo In-sung and Song Hye-gyo confirm melodrama

Confirmations are in for the cast of the upcoming melodrama That Winter, The Wind Blows, the latest project from star writer Noh Hee-kyung (Padam Padam, Worlds Within, Goodbye Solo). Song Hye-gyo and Jo In-sung have signed on headline, and the drama has scored a broadcaster as well. It’ll be on KBS’s 2013 slate, though no word yet on a premiere date.

It’s a conventional melodrama about “a man and woman who don’t believe in love.” The story is based on the Japanese drama I Don’t Need Love, Summer / Ai Nante Irane Yo, Natsu, adapted once already into a film starring Moon Geun-young and Kim Joo-hyuk in 2006, called I Don’t Need Love. The heroine is blind and the hero is a rich playboy, who for some reason takes on this huge con pretending to be her brother. They’re both bitter and jaded when it comes to love, but they slowly start to change, until the sibling-not-a-sibling part complicates matters. Yeah, you think?

Check out the trailer below for the movie version, which seems like pretty hardcore melo — misanthropy, blindness, fauxcest, and lots and lots of tears. That certainly doesn’t mean it won’t be done well, by any means. It just won’t be a happy world. Noh Hee-kyung is re-teaming with PD Kim Kyu-tae (Padam Padam, Worlds Within) and already the cast is creating lots of buzz for the show. It’s just that both actors have done these characters before, and the idea of an entire story built upon a gigantic lie isn’t the most appealing. But perhaps there’s more to the remake than what the previous versions have done. One can only hope.

That Winter, The Wind Blows enters production in October and plans for a 2013 broadcast.

#%&%*&%$*( - Can't process right now. I adore these two so much & we finally not only get them back on-screen in a drama but also an adaption of my first Moon Geun Young film as well. One of my first Korean movies and I absolutely loved it, although I hope the drama doesn't end like the movie LOL.

I'm definitely looking forward for this team-up & WELCOME BACK to the both of them ^^

I haven't seen anything with Jo In-sung or Moon Geun Yong in it but I have heard all kinds of good things about both. And I absolutely adore Song Hye-gyo so I can overlook the melo in the drama as long as she is in it.

I am really looking forward to this! Best wishes to both leads and the production!

I enjoyed the movie too. Although the ending wasn't the happiest, I think it fit the movie. I'm not sure how well I'll be able to handle the angst stretched out to 16+ episodes, but my first foray into melodrama with Nice Guy is going well, so maybe it won't be too scarring.

It was my first moon geun young film but also my first kdrama/film period! That movie was my very 1st step into the kdrama world so I'm def looking forward to this one. Though uber melo dramatic isn't really my thing. I like things with more of a plot. the whole we-can-we-can't drama gets old after the first couple of eps

Can’t process right now. I adore these two so much me too! I just watched ''Full house'' and I simply love her, one of the most beautiful and sensible actress. And JIS... no words, I can't even breath... is it 2013 here?

How can a title be that repulsive and depressing? I'm sorry, I will never get used to it. And the premise... Running away from that tear jerker.

I had to go back and see the title and had to burst out laughing. I'm just going to call this drama Love Me Not 2 since that is what I know the movie by.

"The winter, the wind blows" You don't feel like your bones are freezing when reading this? You don't have that image stuck in your brain?

LMAO Mysti, that picture...really did give me the chills.
I think they should have stuck with Love Me Not.

"That Winter, the Wind Blows" is also kind of awkward to read and say and at the same time makes me think "But....the wind blows every winter..."

I''m not a teacher and my english is mostly from tv but I think the title should be ''That winter the wind blew'' or ''This winter the wind blows'' = Am I right?

@Dana

Either would have been better! It's definitely awkward because it seems like there's past tense and present tense there.

I thought the title was not bad - even quite poetic. Guess I don't mind the winter or the wind or the birds crying. Just part of our living world and without them, our spring and summer just will not be the same...

I'm a fan of this writer, but I would probably be more interested in watching this if it were Moon Geun-young in the tv drama role.

Well, I won't watch it as sad stories with unhappy ending is a no thanks!
Plus I am not a fan at all of Padam Padam, Worlds Within & Goodbye Solo so knowing that the writer will be Noh Hee-Kyung is really bad news for me.
A pity because I was looking forward to see a drama with Jo In-Sung in it...

Wow.

I watched the movie ages ago. Not the big fan of its mello-angsty story plot but was totally impressed by Moon Geun Young and Kim Joo Hyuk's acting. Both of them made the movie bearable for me (I actually cried a tear. Or two...

... Okay, I cried a lot)

So I kinda have a mixed feeling about this drama plan. Am not sure whether Song Hye Kyo and Jo In Sung can bring emotions to the story :|

Yeay for JIS coming back to dramaland!

I love Autumn Tale but not a big fan of SHK. I mean she can act but she's not that strong of an actress in my opinion and I just can't see this pairing together.

Didn't love Padam Padam and The World They Lived In. I guess I have to give this a shot just for the sake of watching JIS back on my telly.

LOL. The ship has sailed I think. They were together for a movie long time ago. Second pairing of the same actor-actress is extremely rare. Exception: Jang Hyuk - LDH.

So excited to have JIS back. Yummy yummy yummmyyy

Okay, so wait - the plot is they're bother/sister? Only not REAL brother/sister cuz he's lying to her to get her inheritance. So that means zero romance between the leads? Pffffffftttttt - I'm out.

Been waiting forever for SHG to come back to my screen and she picks this? *shoots self in head* And we've seen JIS do this character SO many times. *sigh*

me too, but i feel so freaking cheated that there are two heavily anticipated actors making a comeback on a project that seems so BLAAAAAHHH. as JB said, "the idea of an entire story built upon a gigantic lie isn’t the most appealing." totally.

......but, ah well, it's still better than an entire story based upon the premise the YOUR BEST FRIENDS SOMEHOW MANAGED TO SELL YOUR FREAKIN HOUSE!!!!! .....sorry, i love SHG, and God knows there's a special place in my heart for the early dramas, but that i$h was ridic, son.

Noooooooooooooooooooooo! This is ONE movie where it does not need to be turned into a drama. We need no extensions of it. Moon Geun and Kim Joo-hyuk did a great job in the movie, but I didn't care for the plot. What a waste for Jo In Sung on his comeback. What's up with all these returning guys picking the worst comeback dramas ever?! The one who's made the right comeback choice so far is only Lee JunKi!

Buh-what?

Why? Why?
Why do these long awaited and gorgeous comebackers have to pick this sort of thing? Although I bet SK will eat IT UP!!

The only thing more depressing would be to cast A-listers in a romtraj drama about early enslaught Alzheimers...

I meant early onset, but early enslaught is so much funnier...

OK, I will rewrite this premise to my liking:

The heroine is:
blind bodyswapped into her identical twin's shell while twinnie is off to the future to track down her own murderer,
and the hero is a rich playboy nutty professor, who for some reason takes on this huge con pretending to be her brother a rich playboy.
They’re both bitter and jaded unable to say no to favors when it comes to love, but they slowly start to change learn to sing opera, until the sibling-not-a-sibling returning twinnie to her body part complicates matters.

Ok I think this is funny, I was just doing a randim Full House rewatch yesterday and subsequently contemplating SHK's acting and her possible return to dramas...i dont mind the premise or a good melodrama with a good writer and since we've got that I'm ok with it...and Jo In Sung is known to br a good melo actor (hello WHIB) ...however this is not the genre in which SHK shines, she does not have that kind of range or depth...plus if this is a role done by MGY, she has some pretty big shoes to fill, especially since thats the kind of thing MGY does wonderfully...speaking of which I think I'll have to watch this moview first...one of the few things

I totally agree with you. SHK cannot act. I do not understand why the writer chose SHK who doesn't know how to act. She is the only famous of scandalous lady with all of her co-stars instead of improving her acting skills. On the other hand, JIS is an excellent actor who portrayed really well whatever he acts. MGY is an excellent actress as well. I admire her acting skills and her personality even though she is a young actress. That is the reason MGY is a national young actress compared to SHK who has nick names with a playgirl/an inexpensive girl/ a yellow old cow frog/ a flirted girl.

Sure, SHG is not a good actress but your comments about her is unnecessary.
Anyway, I don't think SHG is the best choice for this but i certainly adore her. I'll prolly give it a try only to see how much she's grown as an actress and not to mention JIS is just so attractive! lmao.

lol. why do you have to comment the same thing on shk all over & over again & use diff username. Crazy fool pretending to be someone else you don't know her just bcoz she's honest to admit that she dated 2 actors it doesn't mean she's seducing all of them. shk is super gorgeous woman she doesn't need to seduce any man. all she have to do is smile & she'll have them on her feet! your So insecure! i pity you maybe your so lonely that you don't even have a boyfriend!
