Sung Joon graduates high school, heads to Pluto

Given how Sung Joon injected a high school rock band drama Shut Up: Flower Boy Band) with surprising intensity, I’m expecting that and more for his next project, a murder mystery movie titled Pluto.

The project is set at a prestigious private university and purports to shine a light on the social problem of Korea’s college entrance exam madness, “as well as showing how people are destroyed by it.” Sounds intriguing, if terribly vague, since I’m left wondering exactly HOW. Are students murdering everyone who tested ahead of them on the exams? Or maybe it’s about “test moms” who give their kids a little murderous hand by offing the competition. Or maybe it’s an overextended metaphor about how the rejected students are cast out of their academic galaxies, stripped of their status, never to be called a planet again.

(Hey, it’s your fault for giving me nothing to work with, Pluto. The questions will ask themselves.)

The film will begin filming this month with Kim Kkot-bi (Ashamed, Ghost).

So it's set at the university? Does it focus on the post-exam students? Or do the high school students take the exams at on the university campuses?

*SPOILER*

Hey,

So glad that some people have seen White Christmas. I just finished watching it and wanted to hear your thoughts about the ending. I don't know if it was the subtitles, but Yoon Soo's story wasn't very clear to me. I also didn't understand how what Yo Han said to him over the phone would unleash the monster within him to commit murder?

Thanks!

Maybe it's about him time-traveling to the future where exams are given based on who your reincarnation is? Or he has 3 goofy-side kicks to steal the exam answers for him? Or he sells his parents heirlooms to stay in the future so he can take the exam? Or the exam answers are hidden in red phone booths?

Wait....

Pfft.

In other words, ugh why's his next project gotta be a movie? Movies don't have easy access like dramas. Sigh.

Haha!
I'm still ok. I don't have an official noona status yet (for an actor), since I have yet to turn 18.
I find it interesting how there is the thought that it's bad to like someone a few years younger than you, but it's fine if it's someone significantly older.
In my opinion, as long as you're legal, everything goes.

Not a murder mystery fan, but depending on how this plays out exactly I might be able to watch this without having nightmares.

Certainly keen on seeing Sung Joon in another role.

Wasn't he doing a drama called Wetlands Ecology about 4 friends in an apartment or was that big fat lie? :( I mean they already had a director and writer

I love Sung Joon so much! He is just so attractive! And although Lie to Me was not the best drama, I thought he was pretty decent in it! but anyway, I can't wait to see him in more dramas.

You know what? I still think of Pluto as a Planet on a subconscious level because, well dude, it was hammered into our brains for so long that this here galaxy has nine planets that to think of Pluto as a dwarf-planet just seems weird. Uh, hello? What does that do to poor Sailor Pluto of the Sailor Scouts of the Sailor Moon franchise? Blasphemy I say! XD

Anyways, I will just wait for more news on this movie.

Ahhh his second movie! But I still haven't seen his first one! In that one he's also in a band (like SUFBB) except this band sucks bahahhahaa.

But, sweet! I'll be looking forward to it since he's a very talented actor. Thank you random agent who found him. Bless your soul.

Oooo, thank you! I've been wondering what he's been doing since SUFBB ended.

I read somewhere that he's in a movie due to be released in July, with the actor who played Bong-gu from K2H, called 'Dangerously Excited'. Any news on that?

Pluto's not his next project, but his next next one. He has a movie between now and Pluto coming out. In Korean it's 나는 공무원이다, but I believe you called it "Dangerous Thrill" last time you wrote about it here on Dramabeans. Dangerous Thrill stars Yoon Je Moon from The King (Bong gu) as a civil servant and Sung Joon as a wanna be indie rocker.

No, this movie is his next project. The movie you're talking about came out last year at the Busan international Festival but it'll be in theaters in July.
