Yoo Ah-in in fall/winter fashion for Bazaar

I rather like the way Yoo Ah-in cleans up. He still retains enough of his badboy streak to stay left of center, and remain intriguing. Or perhaps I’m just helpless at the sight of his pouty lips. His new film Wandeuki opens today, and if the trailer is any indication, it looks funny, heartwarming, and bitingly sarcastic. My kind of movie.

He goes back to high school for the role of the troubled youth who comes across a meddlesome teacher, and the two become unlikely friends. Bromance afoot? Yes please. Kim Yoon-seok (The Chaser, Jeon Woo Chi) plays the offbeat teacher who’d rather sleep than teach, who sees potential in the one kid everyone else gave up on. Argh, I cannot get my hands on this movie fast enough. Anyone got a jet plane handy?

Interestingly, Wandeuki will be in theaters at the same time as Song Joong-ki‘s Penny-Pinching Romance, which premieres a few weeks later. Competition at the box office for our star-crossed Romeo and Romeo? Can they go to each other’s premieres and share a bucket of popcorn? Where’s the line for THAT movie?

Wandeuki hits theaters today, and Harper’s Bazaar hits newsstands in November.

Thanks girlfriday! I too would like to see YAI and SJK work on another drama project. ;-) Have the Hong Sisters decided on the lead actors for their next year drama?

Thought I'd share this recent YAI article in the KBS World site that may be of interest:

http://english.kbs.co.kr/Entertain/EntertainmentNews/view.html?page=1&No=7946

I watched the "The Man who Can't Get Married" and didn't realize that was him then. Somehow, he looked different in that drama...More importantly, in reading this KBS article, I was moved by his account of experiencing poverty at a young age and still persevere to realize his dream and support himself.

I only seen him in Sungkyunkwan Scandal, The Man who Can’t Get Married and Sky and Sea [ocean] He shown glimpses of being a good actor, rather than just another pretty face, Korea has tons of those..pretty face and six pack abs fan girl scream here please.
I think though he can bring a certain realness to his roles, perhaps as his early days where so tough he knows more of the real world than someone of his age really should have to.
That aside he does seem to have a chip on his shoulder, call it bad boy if you like, but it can turn to the idea the world owes him something and that can hurt him career wise, with a bad personality. He dissed the producer of Sky and Sea on his facebook/twitter and refused to attend any after event promotions for the film, that not something any producer looking for a lead going to like reading about. Perhaps he grown up a bit more, he was lucky not to get sued that time around, but very much sounded like he needed a good slap around the ears lol

Yeah, and the producer of Sky and Sea is Jang Nara's father. He pointed out that JN's father interfered too much on the movie to the extent that JN father's took over the director's job :p

The film almost wasn't made as the main sponsor dropped out, this was back in 2009 when the world finical troubles where rampant. So the film was finished with JN's own money, and her father took over as producer. I still think Yoo Ah in comment where way over the top as the film was already under such attack from other sources it didn't need the same from one of the people who was directly connected to it. It also doesn't explain why he refused to help in promotion. From his action and word it was as if he rather the film not have been finished at all, and sound like very much like bad feelings more than some kind of stand on artistic reasons. He also complained that he was not told the film was to be pulled out of Korea, though how he could say that when he refused to help promote it and bad mouthed it only adds to the idea it all bag grapes on his part. The only thing the saved him from getting sued was JN's plea to her father not to. On seeing the film he is very much the third lead so perhaps after JN's dad took over his role was cut back, that may explain Yoo Ah In hissy fit. Either way it is not something one would expect or like to see from a professional actor.
