Kim So-yeon makes her appearance in Athena

Finally! We’ve sure been waiting long enough for this day. The Goddess of War herself, Kim So-yeon, will be reprising her IRIS character for Athena on today’s Episode 17. Truthfully I’ve been lagging a bit behind on watching Athena, but I still contend that it’s better than IRIS, at least for me. Now if Kim So-yeon and Kim Seung-woo had been a major part of Athena rather than guest spotting, it might have been the best thing since sliced bread.
Oh well. I guess I’ll have to settle for her spending an episode back with her commanding officer, and with Athena‘s resident Northern defector-turned-spy, Ki-soo (played by the awesome Kim Min-jong). Now THAT would’ve been a good spinoff. ZEUS: The Northern Trio’s Adventures South of the Border. Why won’t anyone make that show? It’s the least the drama gods can do, for having Kim Seung-woo drop out of Crime Squad. I mean, what’s a girl to do about her incurable ajusshi crush?
Kim So-yeon’s character, Sun-hwa, has apparently gone through some major changes since we saw her last. She left her spy life behind and went to live in New Zealand with her husband(!) and child(!!). But something endangers her family, and so she gets sucked back into the fight, in order to protect her peaceful way of life. I foresee much angst, and dramatic reunions. Please, can there also be a showdown between Badass Sun-hwa and Badass Hye-in (Su Ae)?
Athena had been slipping in the ratings (the weeks before settled in between 12-13%), but guest spots have brought the ratings back up this week, with yesterday’s Episode 16 bringing in 15.4%. It looks like Queen of Reversals‘ exit is helping as well. Yesterday’s episode introduced Choi Kang Changmin (also on Monday-Tuesday’s Paradise Ranch) in his guest spot, which is rumored to run the rest of the series.

I was definitely hoping to see her sooner. I'm backed up about 8 eps but this gives me incentive to catch up. I hated Sun-hwa in IRIS but I loved So-yeon. And I have to agree GF I like ATHENA tons more than IRIS.

...how I wish I've watch Iris to understand more Kim So-yeon character...now that I'm kindda hooked to Athena. Another face of the female genre? not bad....love to see this.

Can you imagine if she teamed up with Kim Sun-ah in an action film as spies or cops?
They always team up 2 strong male leads; I wish they'd do the same with actresses in a thriller.
I'd take Crime Squad with these 2 since we can't have the ajhussi of all ajhussis.

ok see, ex-spies/secret agents/assassins and the like should never ever retire to have a family, somehow their old life,old enemies will always find them and endanger their family. It happens so many times in other dramas and movies like in kill bill when uma thurman comes back and kills vernita in front of her little daughter, seriously don't they ever think of what can happen to their innocent family?

yey....KSY, gawd...i love her in prosecutor princess...maybe i'll start watching this show...although it'd be better if PSH is her husband in it...
I always imagine KSY and PSH in a married life with a kid...it'd be perfect, I swear i'll praise the director of this drama if he makes PSH as KSY's husband...dude that's my dream *_*

I watched Episode 17 last night, without subs...
...and, just like that, Kim So-yeon delivered the strongest performance(imho) of the series to date. *SPOILER ALERT*-When she answered the dead assailant's phone and discovered that the caller was her former superior, Park Chul-young, did you see how her expression went from abject grief to rage?
This gorgeous actress just continues to amaze me with her superb acting...not to mention her badass kickassery! Love her!

Why did she appear again ? T_T Now I keep wishing she would pop up in the following episode. Her performance was short but hecka awesome.
There's just sth about her fighting scene that is totally different from other actresses. Others just try to look robotic and cool when fighting, she looks cool but also ACTS out her suppressed human feeling inside.
