Giveaway: Win tickets to see Hello Ghost
by javabeans
Giveaway time!
I’ve written about fantasy-comedy movie Hello Ghost a couple times before, and I’ve been eager to see the movie based on its humorous, heartwarming premise: A man (Cha Tae-hyun) fails at a suicide attempt, and becomes hounded by four annoying ghosts. The ghosts are able to possess his body for their own purposes — the boy loves to eat, an ajusshi loves to smoke — and eventually, he learns to enjoy the little pleasures in life.
The movie will be playing with English subtitles at the new CGV Cinemas in Los Angeles, which frankly looks like a pretty spiffy place to catch a movie (if only I were in LA!), and I’ve got FOUR TICKETS available to give to Dramabeans readers (2 PAIRS), good for any of the screenings.
The movie opens tomorrow (Friday, February 4 — but there’s a midnight screening tonight), so this is gonna be a quickie.
To enter: Just leave a comment below, and I’ll pick two winners by random number draw by this time tomorrow (Friday).
Remember to leave a valid email address so I can contact winners! Note that the CGV Cinema is in Koreatown in Los Angeles, so you’ll have to be in the vicinity. The movie will screen for two weeks guaranteed, and perhaps longer depending on box office.
Showtimes available here.
For a little more about the movie:
Hello Ghost has performed very well at the box office in Korea, debuting in the #1 slot and drawing more than 3 million admissions so far. Not bad for Cha Tae-hyun, whose last comedy, Speedy Scandal, was a sleeper hit that went on to crack the top 10 box office hits of all time in Korea (currently #7).
More than anything, I’m drawn to this cast, who have serious comic chops. Cha Tae-hyun probably does the hapless fool act better than anyone in Korea, and somehow makes him endearing rather than annoying, personable rather than unsympathetic. Lee Moon-soo (Quiz King) plays the pervy grandpa, while Go Chang-seok (Secret Reunion) is the smoker. I freaking love Jang Young-nam in almost anything, especially Dal Ja’s Spring and Level 7 Civil Servant, and she plays the weeping ajumma, while Wish Upon A Star’s scene-stealing Parang (Chun Bo-geun) plays the kid with a large appetite.
Hello Ghost is also scheduled to release at the following theaters: AMC Cupertino (San Jose), AMC Ridgefield Park (New Jersey), AMC Empire (New York), AMC Rios (Washington DC), AMC Discover Mills (Atlanta), Consolidated Pearlridge (Hawaii)
