Secret Garden to live on?

…and on… and on…. SBS’s latest hit Secret Garden might just get an afterlife, although it remains to be seen whether it will be one filled with rose petals and hocus pocus, or a life of being stuck in development netherworld. The production company is currently in talks to debate a couple of options. Among them are: a drama Season 2, a musical, and a movie.

The one with the lowest probability of coming into existence is of course the drama. I will eat my left foot if that actually happens. Because waaay too many factors would have to align for a season 2 (the biggies: writer Kim Eun-sook, and stars Ha Ji-won and Hyun Bin, the latter of which is headed to the army in two months’ time). And even if you could defy space and time to make it happen, what kind of story would be left to tell?

The musical and the movie versions are more likely, though it’s still unclear if they would write entirely new storylines, and why in particular they’re thinking musical, rather than just theater. If what they’re trying to do is cash in on the success of the drama, they should really just do a straight theatrical adaptation of the original, condensing the story into one play.

A representative from the production company stated, “We’re discussing all the offers. We think we’ll come to a decision soon about what version to make. I think there will be many different ways to solve this problem.” Yeah, I wouldn’t call it a problem so much as a cash cow. Secret Garden mania is still going strong, with novel and manhwa versions to come.

Looks like there might be hope after all, for those of you still jonesin’ for your next Secret Garden fix.

MOVIE! MOVIE! MOVIE!
like most people said its
mostly impossible for SG2
Since Binnie is going to the military
i really hope for the movie and not
a musical, its not that appealing to me.

I propose a sequel: Secret Garden II-30 years on.

Stars: Grandpa from My Princess as Old Joo Won.
Omma from My Princess as Old Ra Im.
Hyun Bin as Joo Won's son, Joo Bin.
Ha Ji Won as enemy's daughter Ra Ra, Joo Bin's
love interest.

That way, we can see Hyun Bin and Ji Won all over again. Oh, and Grandpa, of course....he's HAWT!

the only reason i tuned into the drama was because of Hyun Bin. the only reason i finished the drama was because of the actors and their interactions. It was really the only thing worth seeing. Plot was meh, let's face it. So, if you want a SG fix, rewatch it mate.

I think we should give more credit to SG writer, I actually though that the plot was not bad plus the dialogue was top notch. Have we not seen good actors act in poor written quality dramas before? Just look at MSOAN, I don't mean to bash at the drama but seriously I could not go beyond ep. 4. No matter how good actors or good looking they were, they could not carry the drama by themselves, because the dialogue and plot was just a mess and unfortunately it's writer had a lot to do with that.

The plot was lazy w/ the body change being more of a gimmick and being inadequately explained or integrated into the storyline.

As for the dialogue, it was subpar - no real witty bantering or memorable lines/moments.

If SG gets another go, the writing will have to be greatly improved.

I actually agree with you the writing would have to be inprove, If they do end up doing a sequel( wich I hope not) I just hope they do it with enought time ahead so the quality of the drama does not get affected.
As far as the memorable moments, well you have the sit up scene, capuccino scene, staring at each other without saying a word, Christmas party kiss, these are just to name a few.
Memorable lines;
"Raim, since when have you been so beautiful?Since last year?
" It left you a scar, I guess you can't run for miss Korea anymore"
"This is no ordinary tracksuit, this was handmade stich by stich by an Italian craftman"
"you have a text message, you have a text message"
"Kim suahmo.........(Sory dont know the whole thing).
"is this your best? Are you sure?"
These are just a few examples of why I think the writer should be given more credit since you have to be pretty good at what you do to come out with stuff like this.

Eh, those scenes were more contrived than memorable; same goes for the lines.

I think a possible plot for SG season 2 is that Ra Im comes out of a coma caused by a stunt accident and realises that everything happened in season 1 was just a dream. However, things that was supposed to be in her dream start to become true in real life, with a twist, and she ends up with Oska instead.

Joo Won married Seul, who shares his values and obnoxiousness. Whenever they have an argument, Seul would move to her apartment on the 88 floor, so Joo Won with his claustrophobia won't be able to get there by stairs.

With this plot, it doesn't only help make sense why season 1's story is so flaw, but also is a chance for SBS to rake in more money.

Honestly I know the drama wont happen because HB decided to go on service now ( much to my freakin dislike!!) but the musical would just be stupid. The whole premise of SG would be lost and the music would make it super cheesy! Like can u imagine their charaters singing their sorrows or happy times like some kind of High School Musical? Lmao I think not.
The movie would be cool though. Even though I hate that it would end after 2 hours. :( Oh well thats the best option. Then if they wanted to make a SG2 when HB comes back. Like them as parents of pre-teens with her a budding actress and him a CEO or something. Not very creative but thats something I'd like to see. ;)
(hell id like to see his fine self anywhere! ;) )

It should just stop with the graphic novel and comic books. I don't even see this worth adapting into a play. It's the chemistry between the two that ultimately sold it. Not saying the other actors and writing are bad... but it's not something I would even rewatch again. After watching MNIKSS for like the fifth time, I realized that SG while more contemporary was very gimmicky. Just like most of the plots out there nowadays. I miss the good old fashion of just telling a good story that flows and characters who react the way we do in real life.

if i can choose..i would like for they to make a movie..telling us about what happen just before the elevator accident..and also after the elevator accident, how kim joo won forgot all about the elevator accident and how his attitude and character change after the accident, what is the difference..i think if they make story about this..it will be great...but if they make another storyline n also there is no hyun bin and ha ji won,i dun think it will be great...because the reason i watched sg is because the character kim joo won n how great hyun bin portrayed the character...
i'm also curious about joo won's mom..when can he accept gil ra im??n she once said joo won will regret it..

I thought the SG finale was kind of disappointing. It seemed so rushed and thrown together.

And then we got married.

And then we had three kids.

And yeah, Mom still hates us.

Oh here's a random Korean actress cameo for the Director. Oh, never mind the dangling story thread with Kim Joo-woon's sister.

I don't want an SG 2 but it would have been nice if it were 23 or 25 episodes instead of just 20.

this is one of my favourite drams of ALL TIME! but i dont know how they can drag this drama considering an awesome fantastic ending. how cool if season 2 had SECRETARY KIM&HIS GIRLFRIEND SWAP BODIES TOO xD but they dont see main character material but they could do something with hyunbin&jiwon but include secretary kim &his gf. OR i really want to see the progress when Ji Won DURINGI pregnancy cause that would be funny to watch with her bossing HyunBin around then there could be a little drama happening to do with the boys? ;]

Overall, I like the drama, though, I didn't like it as much as some of you guys, raving over it. IT had many good moments. I didn't like that in the end, they had the kids, maybe one or two, three was like a lot, within just some years, and didn't feel natural with them being parents. LOL.
But maybe the kids are needed to bring in the Mother In Law, to their side, but she didn't really fully accepted them.
I like the Oska character more than the first lead. He was funny. The main female is a good actor and her short hair do really suits her and she looked so charming in the stunt scenes. Lead guy, his thin frame bothers me a bit, but he is a good actor. With the thin frame, I didn't find him as attractive as he used to look.
Definitely no second season. Spin off with good plot, that's good.

I don't know if anyone else has heard this, but I just read that SBS is doing a 'Secret Garden Special Edition' for the lunar new year holiday - to air on Feb. 4th. So something like episodes 22 and 23? That would be nice since I really didn't like how the series ended. Has anyone else heard about this? I just hope its not another interview with all the characters from the show...

I'm not quite sure how they would make a Season 2. I mean, not much can be said despite unaccepting mother-in-law and broken Ssun when, um, the drama pretty much slaps it into your face that the main couple are FATED to be.
Spin-off would be fun, I suppose. Not like Goong S though. Goong S was enjoyable in its own right (minus bad acting), but it was obviously gonna head to the failbox. IF they kept the same cast, THEN it would be more successful (what is this, a geometry conjecture?) Still, Hyun Bin's pending enlistment is probably the biggest obstacle in this scenario. Same for a movie, which could have been a REAL cash cow if not for Hyun Bin's enlistment.
He sure picked a good time to get enlisted. Jk. He has to do it at some point...before he was 30, if I'm correct.
A musical seems the way to go, except I'm not sure I'd want to see a musical of Secret Garden without Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won. Not to mention, I'd miss the rest of the original cast just as much. =[

Then again, I'd be up for a spin-off that focused on Secretary Kim and Ah Young just as well. xDD

Even though, I want a Secret Garden 2 so so so much. I am going to say "no" to it, because, Hyun Bin is in the military at the moment. Also, there wouldn't really be storyline to tell. Finally, I know all the viewers that loved the first season would be disappointed in the 2nd seasons, with most dramas.

I'm going to miss SG soso much :( </3

I hate when shows drag on and on but this went on smoothly. YET I also hate it when the shows end. It makes me so sad because I want to continue watching it. Damn this sucks :(

To stop from this obsession, I have to find a BETTER drama. I been looking for awhile now ... right now I'm trying out "Easy Fortune Happy Life" but it cannot even be compared to SG! D:

Secret Garden should be left alone. It was a perfect Drama from start to finish, the ending was good and i dont wish to see a silly reason written as to why they would body swap again because that was all undone at the end of the season.

I just ordered the sound track online so i can enjoy the wondeful music from this drama, perhaps thats a good way to continue the enjoyment for some people. Or simply watch it again for the 50th time :)

Move forward and discover new storys and remember old storys with a smile!
