Sector 7 sells abroad, releases teaser poster
by javabeans
Let’s take a first look at the 3D blockbuster Sector 7, the action/sci-fi movie starring Ha Ji-won (currently showing some of her stunt chops in Secret Garden), movie veteran Ahn Sung-ki (May 18), and Oh Ji-ho (Chuno). The movie takes place out on an oil rig, and unfolds as the characters encounter a strange monster, Host-style.
The film boasts high-quality CG and 3D effects, and underwent a two-year pre-production period during which the monster was designed. At the American Film Market last month, Sector 7 sold to four overseas entities in advance of its release in Korea; those are TF1 in France, M Pictures in Thailand, and Scorpio East in Singapore and Malaysia.
The idea of a monster-at-sea movie isn’t terribly novel, but with the people involved, I can see the crossover potential for Sector 7. Director Kim Ji-hoon put out May 18 about the Gwangju massacre, and producer Yoon Je-kyun worked on blockbuster disaster flick and box-office smash Haeundae (also starring Ha Ji-won), as well as the well-received romantic comedy My Gangster Boyfriend (with Jung Yumi and Park Joong-hoon) and warm drama Harmony (with Kim Yun-jin).
The film wrapped filming on September 29 and is currently in post-production, aiming for a summer 2011 premiere.

I'll see anything with Ha Ji-won and I have a thing for sci-fi with strong women characters...my nerdy heart cannot wait.
Hopefully they'll play it this summer at Fantasia (Mtl's film fest).
As for the delectable Oh Ji-ho; if he could only act as well as he smiles the world would be a better place.

What a surprise. TF1 is not the kind of French TV broadcast to air Korean movies. As usual it'll be dubbed but I look forward to seeing it. Thanks JB.

@Denali : haha, sure thing ! geeeeeez, as much as I love Ha Ji Won, I don't know if I'll be able to handle the...........french dubbing..*shiver*
they always give "asian voices" to asians (and "black voices" to blacks...dunno if it makes sense)

Yippee!!! I'm not the only French-speaking person addicted to dramabeans then? Are you living in the hexagon too? :)
I always have a hard time with dubs, although the French one are excellent, imo. I got to watch foreign movies dubbed in Russian a decade ago which was hilarious, because you could still hear the real actors' voices as well as their emotion-less-voiceovers, with sometimes only 2 different people speaking for male and female characters. ^^
I guess that it must make sense for producers to choose "Asian voices" to dub Asian characters, although it does sound too stereotyped. As if a Korean would speak as a Japanese or a Chinese or a Pinoy or ... :/
Gotta confess that I haven't watched an Asian movie with French dubs in a looong while. Have you? :)

Ha Ji Won & Ahn Sung Ki...these two collaborate much. nice to see them after Duelist.
I think Ha Jiwon is one of those star who are not only credible and versatile but also bankable. i almost seen all her movies and i enjoyed them. i'm sure she will bring another character to embrace here. such an amazing actress.

hi!!! can you please help me??? there are a couple of songs that aren’t in the soundtrack but that play as background music in runaway and i really love them. the first one is an arab style instrumental. it plays whenever the baddies are scheming. for example in ep 20 when mijin is talkin to young joon, midway through the episode. there is also another track that is sort of suspensful, and its got strings. it plays in episode 20 as well, when the female officer is interrogatin the team leader played by danny ahn. if you know their names or where to download from, please let me know at this email address. thank you soooo much for your help

how come there's only 18 comments here?
guess Ha Ji-won is ALSO underrated here in dramabeans-land.
I'M SO ANTICIPATING THIS MOVIE.
Ha Ji-won, Ahn Sung-ki, Song Sae-byuk FTW!
