Playful Kiss: Episode 14

Lordy, I didn’t think we’d EVER get here. But here we are, and what a breath of fresh air it is to see Robot Boy stepping up to own his feelings. What’s even better is what he does afterwards, because as awesome as the kissing is, it’s much more satisfying to see them steer each other towards growth, and maturity, and a sense of self that doesn’t make me want to lose my lunch.

EPISODE 14 RECAP

Seung-jo’s jealousy-fueled, rain-soaked, you-can’t-love-anyone-but-me kiss leaves Ha-ni (and everyone else) a puddle of goo. At home, Dad is announcing their departure from the house, throwing everyone up in arms.

Just then, Seung-jo and Ha-ni arrive home, sopping wet. Mom sends them upstairs, but Eun-jo rushes up to his brother: “Oh Ha-ni is leaving!”

At that, Seung-jo does the unimaginable. He takes Ha-ni by the hand, sweetly interlocking their fingers, and announces that they have something to say. Omo! So soon?

Seung-jo: I want to marry Ha-ni.

Cue trumpets, dancing pandas, and stockpile of confetti. I seriously thought we’d be in for some more roundabout angst before he actually admitted the consequences of the Big Kiss, but hey, I’m all for forward movement. Bring back the Cute!

Mom squeals louder than twenty fangirls on speed, hugging Ha-ni and jumping up and down. Her statement to her son cracks me up: “Baek Seung-jo, why are you so awesome right now?” Hahaha.

Upstairs, Seung-jo says goodnight and Ha-ni stops him for a moment, scared that when they wake up, he’ll go back to being cold Robot Boy. He backhugs her (Who are you?) and casually tosses out, “Should we sleep together then?” Kyah! She buries her face in his chest, saying how much she likes him and that she never even imagined he’d like her back. Seung-jo: “Neither did I.” Heh, it’s dense, but totally honest.

Back at the restaurant, Duckie laments his stupid pushy move on Ha-ni earlier. Yeah, that was your downfall, buddy. He packs a lunch for Ha-ni and heads to campus to apologize…only to find a poster announcing Ha-ni and Seung-jo’s promise to marry.

Okay, what is with the convenient announcements all over school, all the time? I get that it’s cutesy, but as a plot device, (as in, a way for people to find out important things) it’s lame.

Elsewhere on campus, Seung-jo breaks the news to He-ra, who shows her disappointment, but basically acknowledges that everyone knew he liked Ha-ni, but him. She even understands exactly why it was so hard for him to realize it—because Ha-ni was the first problem he’s faced that he couldn’t solve easily, unlike everything else he’s ever encountered.

Seung-jo admits to having a really hard time with it, but now that he’s surrendered completely to Ha-ni, he’s happy. And it shows on his face. I’ve never seen him smiling so much, in all of the previous thirteen episodes combined.

He apologizes to He-ra, and admits that he really did think they were a good match, and that he felt comfortable around her. He-ra puts two and two together: he ran away from the discomfort of his feelings for Ha-ni, and took shelter with her, where he felt comfortable. Ouch. He doesn’t deny it, and she plays it cool, congratulating him even while her heart is breaking, which makes me respect her all the more.

Ha-ni laments not being able to tell Duckie herself, but he’s hurting too much to take her calls. He-ra takes out her heartache on a few hundred tennis balls, and Kyung-soo steps up at just the right time, as a shoulder to cry on.

Duckie takes to the river for his bout of angst, complete with beer and a song. Ha-ni’s heart weighs heavy all day too, knowing how Duckie must feel. She comes to Dad’s restaurant after closing, and when she appears, Duckie braces himself for impact. He tries so hard to put on a brave face, to keep her from saying the words out loud…it breaks my heart.

Just then, Seung-jo walks in, declaring that he likes Ha-ni, and asking for Duckie to let her go. That just raises Duckie’s ire, knowing how badly Seung-jo has treated her for four years, but then Ha-ni finally speaks up, and puts the nail in the coffin. Ha-ni: “Joon-gu-ya, I’m sorry. I’m sorry and I’m grateful.”

She starts to say the rest, but Duckie turns around, telling her to stop. He gets it. He knows. He’s always known, of course. With his back turned, he says, trying to lighten the mood, that Ha-ni has horrible taste in men, and that even if she regrets it later, he won’t go back to her. Aw, your stiff upper lip is killing me, Duckie.

He turns around with these words: “Baek Seung-jo, don’t forget that I’ll be watching you. If you make Ha-ni cry, I’ll make you cry blood.” Seung-jo takes the warning to heart, and Ha-ni looks up at Duckie, so sorry to cause him this much pain.

Dad returns to the restaurant to find Duckie a mess, and comforts him with soju. Duckie finally lets himself cry, saying that he wanted so much to call Ha-ni’s dad “Father.” What a great dad, to be at Duckie’s side through all this.

He-ra’s grandfather is about as happy for the couple as you’d expect, and he decides to pull out of the investment without any qualms. But Seung-jo shows up at his office to convince him otherwise. And then…he decides to invest and save the company. Gee, sap all of the dramatic tension, will ya? Is it too much to ask for Robot Boy to have a hard time at anything? Sigh.

At home, Dad announces that it’s time for Seung-jo to leave the company…and go pre-med. As his last duty for the company, he launches the new game. As He-ra and Duckie watch in the wings, He-ra is reminded of his awesomeness and Duckie is spurred on to become just as impressive a man.

Ha-ni receives her grades, and it’s bad news all around. She whines to Seung-jo that she thought she had brought her scores up enough to get better final grades, and he just replies that she must’ve miscalculated. Haha.

She looks to him for answers, and he just tells her that she got herself into this mess, and she has to work to get out of it. Defeated, she asks if maybe she should drop out.

WHAT? I’m seriously reaching into my screen to slap you upside the head right now.

Seung-jo nips her pity party in the bud, pointing out that while other students poured their sweat and tears into studying, she’s wasted all of her time in fruitless pursuits. He asks pointedly what she’ll do if she doesn’t go to school…have more time to follow him around? Damn. Straight shooter. He basically tells her to get off her ass and work hard at something, otherwise she’ll have nothing.

OH. THANK. GOD.

Baek Seung-jo, I have never loved you so much until now. LOVE. Fluffy bunny love.

Such a relief, because I really didn’t want to end this series hating where they took the characters. I know y’all think I’m hating on Ha-ni because she’s not going to be a high-powered doctor or lawyer instead of a stay-at-home mom or something, but that’s not why I’m angry with her. It’s because of this, right here, that Seung-jo is pointing out—that to her, it doesn’t matter what she does. And THAT is upsetting. If her dream in life was to be the best mom in the world, that’s an admirable dream. But it’s not—it’s to be whatever, whenever, as long as it’s with Seung-jo. It’s her lack of self that makes me angry, because I love her, I adore her…I want her to love herself.

If her goal in life was to be a golf caddy, I wouldn’t care. But the fact that she thinks there’s no difference to her, whether she’s a golf caddy or a nurse…is why I was so reviled at her so-called “dream.” Because that’s not a dream. It’s a lack of one.

Love is sacrifice and devotion, sure. I don’t discount that. But to me, true love? Is what Seung-jo is doing here—making her BETTER, the best version of herself. Because that’s what he wants for her. Because that’s what she should want for herself.

But Ha-ni, stubborn girl that she is, just gets mad at Seung-jo for pointing out her faults, and threatens to move out. He does the exact wrong thing, laughing that she’s got nowhere to go. That just fuels her defiance, and she leaves, declaring that she’ll go to another man. Mom worries, but Seung-jo tells her that it’ll be good for her, to be away from him for a while, and to focus on herself. Amen. To quote Mom, how come you’re so awesome all of a sudden?

Ha-ni heads over to her girlfriends, who give her the best kind of support—beer and girltalk. She stays at Min-ah’s house, and although she misses Seung-jo like crazy, the second she spies on him at school and sees him smiling without a care in the world, she decides to stand her ground and not return home. Look at you, growing a spine.

Mom frets over Ha-ni, but Seung-jo insists that they let Ha-ni deal with this on her own.

Ha-ni wanders the streets for a while, having been kicked out of Min-ah’s house because of visiting family. She walks and walks, finally letting the anger subside, and coming to a conclusion. Perhaps what Seung-jo said was right: she’s always lived for him, and never thought about what she wanted for her own future. She decides that she can’t return like this, and that she wants to marry Seung-jo as someone who is equally impressive and worthy.

SUCCESS!!!

You did it, Show! See, people—ask and you shall receive. I think my fight with Show mirrors Seung-jo’s fight with Ha-ni. I had to push, for it to struggle and come back around.

Ha-ni takes a job a local restaurant, and after finding out where she works from Min-ah and Juri, Seung-jo shows up for lunch. Ha-ni tells him that she’s thought long and hard about what to do with her life, and what she wants to be. She’s come to the conclusion that she wants to help Seung-jo and be by his side, so she’s decided to become a nurse. Well, that’s no surprise to any of us, but it’s still a mighty step up from freshman college dropout and professional stalker. I approve. Loving Seung-jo has helped you find your dream, which is very different from loving Seung-jo being your dream.

Seung-jo smiles and holds her tight, telling her to return home now. She sighs in relief, saying that she truthfully missed him like crazy. He knows, and makes it all okay with his embrace.

Once home, the family is back to its usual bustling chitchat, until Mom declares that everyone needs to clear their schedules for next Wednesday. What’s next Wednesday, you ask?

Why Seung-jo and Ha-ni’s wedding of course.

The turnaround in this episode couldn’t have come any later. I would’ve broken up with you, Show. You guys know my patience is oh-so-thin for the kind of crap that went on in 12. Thankfully, Ye Drama Gods are whimsical but benevolent, and I was allowed to keep all the hair on my head this week.

I would like very much to thank Robot Boy for taking Ha-ni to task, and for turning out to be a rather excellent boyfriend, especially considering how much of a jerk you were for the entirety of your emotionally-stunted adolescence. I really thought that at the end I would just have to concede that you never truly earned her love and won her anyway, but sweetie pie, you TOTALLY earned her love this week. Bravo. Your gold star is in the mail.

I was rather impressed at Duckie and He-ra as well, despite their conflict being a little too easily swept under. But this isn’t their story, so I didn’t expect to even get the kinds of moments that we did, and I appreciated that they didn’t just disappear as characters the second that Ha-ni and Seung-jo stopped needing them as romantic obstacles.

Well I wasn’t expecting a wedding so soon, but I guess that’s where we’re headed in the last week. Not the most exciting cliffhanger to get us to the final stretch, but I’m sure there’ll be plenty of shenanigans before they make it to the altar.

I love this DRAMA!

it's really weird because i just finished to watch Beethoven Virus and got addicted by Kim Myung Min as Kang Mae.

I love Beethoven VIrus and able to watch until last epi coz the great acting of kang mae and the story line.

BV really really different comparison to PK, but I love both at same time! For me, PK maybe not a great drama but it can called good drama...

I enjoy every episode, though I really hope he will be more natural, but I think he has improved a lot...

I love hani, my personality 1800 different comparison to her, but I like her so much and respect her, because her, I respect other people around me more now...

I notice if GF post recap 3 days after JB, JB's recap will receive more comment and I love it, more comment more I feel sense of PK. I hope comment of ep 13 will reach 400 and for ep 14, 550 comments or even 600?

Holding a boisterous wedding ended eventually, the newly-wed couple departs for Jeju Island! Hani anticipates a romantic honeymoon but meets the advent of a fresh rival(?), resulting in a peculiar situation....

This part, "Hani and Seung Jo's silent attitude together doesn't seem like a good omen, depending on how deep Seungjo's care & consideration is.", I think it is actually saying that Hani is sad/upset at SJ's silent attitude, not knowing SJ's deep care/thinking...

And it doesn't really mention "rival" but "new sudden situation" appears....

wooohoooo v always the first to post new informations about the show , I loved that part from the honeymoon , especially the end of it :)

because seungjo seems (the key word being seems) cold and indifferent... not as happy and enthusiastic as she would like him to be (or appear to be)... so she feels like he does not love her or does not want to get married

No, seriously. I'm actually excited for Jeju, someone sure will have so many memories all over the place. I hope he can channel those emotions because I'm really waiting for BSJ to look at OHN the way HJ looked at HB circa WGM...with that certain softness in his eyes that I've yet to see.

Well, HJ did say that he won't climb Mt. Halla with any other woman again, so there's that. Hehe.

BSJ and OHN can go horseback riding, fishing, etc. Heck, they can even chase each other along the shore or write messages on the sand...I wouldn't mind that as long as they won't go to Mt. Halla. I'm selfish too and I want Joongie to keep that memory for HB. :)

What an amazing transformation..BAEK SEUNG JO!!!! I thought I LOVED you back when you were "Robot Boy"...but NOW...I totally ADORE YOU!!!!

This drama is so realistic, it brought back my youthful reminiscing, teenage angst & the beauty of first love!!!

Did not even know who Kim Hyun Joong is until I watched BOF on whim. All of the F4 guys are adorable, but KHJ has that unexplainable charisma that pulls you in. Wow, did not realize how amazingly talented this guy is at 24! Singing, playing guitar/piano/drums, dancing, modeling and now exploring acting. He has indeed improved a lot in PK since BOF. I wish him the best!

Exactly like this for me. To me, he overshadowed Lee Min Ho's character, and I thought LMH was great in his role. But somehow, that "unexplainable charisma" you referred to got me sit up and take notice.

Funny, I didn't think he was that good looking in BOF. I've never really been into pretty boy kind of look. And what made it worse was his orange hair. I hated it. Especially after the hair cut!

Despite that, his quiet, understated charisma got me looking him up and lead me to PK. And guess what? I now think he's gorgeous! Especially knowing that his real character (from variety shows etc) is so much different than his characters in BOF and PK.

I am now adding him to my collection! Never thought anyone else could join Rain in my collection ha ha!

I don't know what drama you were watching but the one I watched KHJ did an awesome job with the kiss. I have no clue what you mean by barking at her but passion comes in many different forms and one form is passionately tender and that is what that kiss was. I didn't like KHJ before PK either but I give credit where credit is due and he did a good job in this drama.

He was really stiff and he didn't say the lines right. It was like he was reciting, not actually speaking them.

And I really don't think you need much talent to put your lips to someone else's and hold still for 30 secs.

It was just lacking..

And i thought that Episode 13 was already the best from among the lot that Playful Kiss had to offer, but episode 14?

MAN... I think it just outdid itself...

This show is really all sorts of awesome! CHINCHA!

And though it might not make it to my list of dramas which has stirred my intellect for its sense and originality... it did succeed in stirring my emotions and for that i could not ask for anything more...

THIS IS LOVE RIGHT HERE...

In it's no frills, no nonsense, basest, simplest form...

The kind that you and i got to experience perhaps once in our lifetime...

The kind that makes you giddy most of the time but which also drives you nuts at certain moments...

The kind that pushes you to be better and motivates you to change, all for the sake of wanting to be worthy for another person...

The kind that brings you to such highs and then takes you to such extreme lows...

Or that which makes your heart soar with joy and also break in sorrow depending on the odds that fate would decide to give you...

THIS IS AS REAL AS LOVE COULD GET...

The kind that completes you and wants you to be the best YOU that you could ever be and i could not even imagine a love that is lesser than this...

Funny how this drama is so untypical in the sense that it is not rife with conflicts and yet i think most of us find ourselves affected by everything that's happening with its characters...

Perhaps it is because the situations that they are going through are relatable and that we remember certain times in our lives when we've been a Hae Ra or Kyung Soo or Joon Goo who had poured their hearts out towards loving another person only for it to end in a heartbreak that feels like death as it remained unreturned until the very end...

Or maybe there were times that we've been in Seung Jo's shoes where the truth is staring us right in the face and yet we try to deny it, as we struggle to determine our true feelings for another person whom we never even imagined we could feel something for, much less fall in love with....

Perchance, we may all have been Ha Ni who wants nothing else in life than to be loved and accepted by that one person whom our hearts beat for and our lives revolve on that we could not even imagine living it without them much less doing anything else...

But aside from all that, i think the reason why i am this attached to this drama this much is because i can really see one of lifes most valuable lessons depicted most of the time in given situations that it presents underneath all its fluff and cotton candy sweet moments...

It shows that LIFE GOES ON...

No matter what happens... it does...

It doesn't stop because you've had your heart broken..

Though it may hurt a thousandfold when the pain is fresh and new and current, there will come a time that you can forget and move on and continue forward towards your future where you can become a lawyer or a Chef or maybe still just a sunbae, just like what Hae Ra and Joon Gu and Kyung Soo are doing as of the moment...

LIFE GOES ON...

Though you've had your wish of having a lifelong love that you had only imagined in your dreams and everything is turning up roses, there will come a time when it would still turn ugly as you fight and make up and then maybe fight some more as you both struggle to understand each other better and love each other a little bit deeper...

There is really no such thing as a fairytale romance where the moment the prince and the princess kiss, they ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after...

You have to work hard to keep that love burning... To continue being the best person you can be and to dedicate yourself towards that goal because only when you do that can you also give so much of yourself, pretty much just like what Seung Jo is teaching Ha Ni...

And i'm glad that this drama is showing us that...

That other side of the coin where it does not end in a perfectly tied up, wrapped with a pretty little bow "they ended up together and now they are happy forever and ever" but rather a REAL depiction of what being a couple is really all about...

I'm not denying though, that i'm enjoying the fan service and the romantic scenes of Ha Ni and Seung Jo tremendously ...

I swear i died in each and every one of them where Seung Jo and Ha Ni hug or kiss or show affection to each other...

(That line from last episode where Seung Jo said that he would stop counting kisses from that moment on, made me go into epileptic seizure...

It just spoke of his sincerity and hints at a promise of how in the future they will be sharing more kisses together so they need not count anymore...

I SWEAR... BEST. USE. OF. A. ONE. LINER. EVER!)

Heck! I am even living my life vicariously through Ha Ni now and wishing that i would somehow get an out of body experience and end up being her...

However, since i'm speaking about the realness of this drama and how it hits really close to home, if there's just one thing that is way too much fantasy and totally scripted for this episode, it's the one where Seung Jo asked Ha Ni if he wants to sleep with him and she said no...

Seriously now, Ha Ni... Seriously?

CMONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN... *rolls eyes in disbelief*

Where in the world would a sane, normal hot blooded girl turn down the chance to sleep with that HOTNESS?

Well, definitely not in mine!

(Honey, if that were me? I will be naked and in Seung Jo's bed so fast, like, even before he finishes his sentence that his head would spin...)

You must be kidding, Ha Ni right?

Well, i guess you really are dumb and way dumber than i ever thought that you can ever be! LOL

in all seriousness, i don't dislike haera. she's not outright evil or a quintessential B..... (like inhee was in personal taste) she's actually cute, independent, smart, and seung jo likes her as a friend and person. sure, she likes annoying hani, but that's about it. if anything, rather than the antagonist, i think she is more hani's opposite. she had true feelings for seungjo, and got her heart broken, but she isn't possessive or crazy, and she accepts it

Aww…BSJ looks soooooo happy I’m kinda envious. He looks like a man who is at peace, happy, ready to take on the world. I wish I had that kind of happiness.

People might still have issues on HN’s career path but to me, her choice is okay. I had hoped that the writers would address HN’s issues since SJ’s has already been addressed. And they did. YAY! I believe that working hard to be a better person is admirable, and I was thankful that HN finally realized how immature she has been acting. HN wanting to be with SJ might be a little like luring a rabbit with a carrot but hey, it’s a good carrot (this totally sounded weird).

I think this episode showed the kind of love BSJ gives. It’s not the kind that is full of grand gestures or flowery words but it is real. Real love that wants what is best for the other person, even if it means hurting them a bit. As they say, tough love.

If things were reversed and she somehow ended up with BJG, would it have been different? Do you think he would make her retake the courses or will he just tell her to be a housewife and drop school?

lol... as you might know, PK is based on the manga, not ISWAK... and among all other adaptations (anime, japanese drama), ISWAK was the only one to do that twist with the wedding so sorry to disappoint you but i don't think what you're looking for is going to happen.

lol... don't worry about not seeing it... i didnt see it as well until somebody else pointed it out and even then... i had to replay the thing like 5 times before i could see it...
it's less than a second and his right hand thumb is a blur.. so watch REALLY carefully... it's at 0:35.... he's just about to put his hand on the bar when it touches hani's shirt... you can actually see the shirt move and hani react to it..

@rainy... well, even after PK, i have a bunch of dramas i'm currently watching right now (runway, gloria, giant, daemul, skks, flames of ambition, dr. champ, etc) not counting the fact that i'm also watching chinese/taiwanese and japanese dramas and american shows. However, what's for sure is that even with all those dramas, i will feel empty... PK had been like a spark in my life lately... All the other dramas are good but even while watching them, part of my brain was still thinking about PK... and i only stalk pk related sites, though not for the other dramas... and only PK can get me to be so animated when commenting...
it was a blast sharing my interest with everybody i feel SO sad that all this will end... i know the special episodes in november will somehow alleviate the emptiness a bit but even that would not be enough... i felt the same thing with PP but i think PK is probably a more serious case... for sure, i will have withdrawal syndrome big time... so to answer your question, i'll most probably rewatch the whole serie once it ends... perhaps several times even.
i'm hoping mary has stayed out all night would be able to fill that void.

for the time being I'm watching only PK and that's why I'm afraind of the emptiness I will have in my life after it ends ,
all other shows u named I'm going to wait untill they end and then I will watch the episodes all together ( especially Rain oppa's drama runway , Dr Champ and SKKS ) , but I think I'm gonna watch Park Shi hoo's new drama which will start tomorrow , I love Park shi hoo and he was the reason of my addiction to Kdrama all along with " prosecutor princess " :)
I'm not fan of chinese , jdrama or Tdrama , just want to keep myself focussed on Kdrama only .
ahh I'm going to watch a hindi serial too , inshallah , it's gonna start at the end of october with my fav indian TV actor :)

oh? who's ur fav indian actor? i'm not as familiar with indian/lakorn/pinoy dramas as i am with jp/kr/c/tw dramas but i watch the hit series there...

My favorite Hindi TV actor is Ronit Bose Roy , he has a show airing right now on a hindi channel , the show is called " bandini " ( prisonnier ) I was totally addicted , 110% addicted to that show and all its froums and Ronit's fanclub , but then the show became very long with illogical plots which led me to hate it and stop watching but Ronit Roy is gonna be in a new show and his charactere will be a lawyer so I'm waiting for it , as I told u it's gonna start last week of october .
Concerning PSH I watched PP more than 10 times and I'm not able to count the times I watched the kiss , sighhhhhh , I tried to watch " family's honor but the viikii link didn't want to work dunno why , Iljmae also watched some epiosdes of it and also wathed his drama " how to meet a perfect neighbor " and he was cute there too :)

OMG... i LOVE buffy... honestly, when it first aired, i didn't watch it because i was a bit too young and too much sacredly-cat to watch that sort of "horror" although by the 4rth season, i totally caught up with the whole thing and got seriously addicted... i still feel sad for the ending... sarah michelle gellar became one of my bias just for her perf in that series alone.

and yeah... sparkle sparkle... i'm not gonna lie, i finished the first book in one sitting... and then vomitted (not literally but i got nauseous) rethinking about what i've just "enjoyed"... i have all the other books but i only read the wikipedia summary, then beginning and the end of them... as for the movies, i watched the first one and that was the end of it... that serie is probably one of the worst thing to introduce to main culture... it's horrid and yet put in a pedestral and worshipped. i totally see the appeal but abhor the fact that it worked so well momentarily on me and on so many people...
if u have time, check Sparklife's Dan_bergstein recap to twilight series... he is HILARIOUS... he's worshipped on sparklife (he even has a facebook fanpage) probably as much, if not more (oooh blasphemy) than JB and GF here... i enjoyed his recaps way way more than the books.

shower scene is HOT... i think we all agreed on that... although for me, he's equally hot in clothes.. i particularly liked the outfit he wore when he helped with the shopping bags... it higlighted his broad chest... XD

lol... i already knew about ss501 since their debut (although i'm not their fan per se) so i knew all about KHJ the idol and the goofball.... that's why, when i saw him in BOF, i was like, what happened to KHJ??? he lost all life trying to play jihoo sunbae.

Been watching videos of KHJ and his group too. The dude is hilarious! His personality makes him even hotter! The other guys in the group are funny too. I can't believe anyone is saying he is just playing himself. No way no how he is playing himself! Still kicking myself for not looking this dude up sooner. Thanks for putting the links to those videos and thanks to the boredom that led me to take a look at them to begin with!

yes... KHJ is he's most cheerful when he's with his bandmates... i was never a fan of ss501 (since i am a loyal fan of another group)... i was aware of them since their debut since i'm a kpoper but was never obsessed about them.. however, through those 5 years, i started to grow to love them quite a bit and i totally understand why triple s love them so much....
there are so many good shows with them in it...

and i assume u mean YG bias n not YB right? although i like you're beautiful as well. :)
and yes, i don't have YG bias although you wouldn't know that from the fact that i follow YG artist as diligently as any other fan (cuz i'm a kpop fanatic.. )
what i really admire about YG artist is their stage presence and also the fact that they don't pretend to sing when they don't... it's really irritating when idols mouth stuff when it's clear they are lipsynching that specific part... and that goes for my fav band as well.

V, there was this link that someone showed me... i'm gonna try and look for it, when the music during a concert stopped and bb were left singing a capella. TOP and GD provided the beat immediately after and the other boys the melody. They exchanged parts melody/main vocal/rap until the problem was fix. It made me tear up srsly.

On a side note, making this whole thing relevant to PK, HYUNJOONG NEEDS TO GET MORE GUITAR SCENES!~

oh... ive seen that clip as well... it really makes me respect YG artists even though i'm not their fan per se. which makes me not understand all the fanwars between fans of different groups.. they all have their appeal and good points. -_-"

anyways, what you said about khj was EXACTLY my thought just about an hour ago...
i was killing time watching fanvids of PK and then i saw the guitar scene and i was like, damn, i forgot BSJ could play the guitar.. wouldn't it be cool if he could sing to hani once before the story ended... (joongbo fans, please understand... i'm not saying that KHJ would sing, it's BSJ.. kk)

I think all this criticism on KHJ's acting in PK is totally BS. Yes, I am his fan and I have a bias but I'm also not blind to his weaknesses. I thought his acting in BOF was horrendous. But I believe that he's doing a great job portraying Baek Seung-jo. Its not award-worthy but you can definitely see a vast improvement in his acting here.

Also, people are saying that he's just playing himself in this drama which irks me because KHJ is not cold and dispassionate. He is just shy and awkward around people that he's not familiar with. But if you've seen behind the scene videos of him with SS501 members or cuts from WGM, he's actually very vibrant and laugh-out-loud funny. A character like Baek-Seunjo or Ji Hoo sunbae is definitely the opposite of his real life personality.

Sorry for the rant. Just had to get this off my chest.

My absolute favorite incarnation of KHJ is as shillang in WGM. I love the boy to death in that show...just a little less than Hwang Bo. BSJ is a very close second...but we still have 2 more episodes for him to endear himself and overtake shillang...I hope.

I guess I'm just too much of an ajumma, but the singer and variety show KHJ doesn't really do too much for me.

However, every time I catch an interview with KHJ...for instance the soda one with PSH...I die laughing. The things he says are so "out there" and his dead pan delivery always makes me lol.

lol... i'm not an ajumma yet and KHJ as the singer doesn't do much to me either (well, except sometimes... but it goes away. i'm impressed but then not enough to be his fan)...
khj's main draw for me is his 4d personality... in all his interviews, transcripts of fanmeetings, he always comes up with hilarious witty and bizarre answer... that's what i love about him most. and his blunt honesty.

Ah, Shilllang KHJ in WGM...how much do I love thee?

Let me count the ways.

In Japan, when you accidentally called her 'yeobo' and was so shy and giddy about it.

At the farm, when you agreed to grandma's comment about the age gap but then comforted your Buin with a gentle "Baby, you okay?".

At the farm, again, when your cute little "Saranghe" dance.

Still at the farm, when you serenaded her with "Falling Slowly".

In Busan, when you took care of baby Jins, only to squeeze her to near-death when you were spazzing over your Buin's aegyo.

In Mt. Halla, when you were running uphill like a boy possessed because you wanted to be a legend.

I could go on and on. Heart, heart, heart him in WGM. I've never laughed so hard watching a show. He is so random and quirky, but so endearing at the same time.

His Baek Seung Jo comes second for me too. But maybe I'll change my mind after the honeymoon. ;)

Its funny because I never really cared for his singer/performer persona, but he had me when he started killing those mosquitoes in Jeju. Too adorable for words!

Ironically, he's now going back to Jeju for yet another honeymoon. Wonder if it brings back memories. :P

My Japanese is limited too but I might just cave in and buy their DVDs cuts. Hee.

for me.. he had me when he said he will be like oxygen to his wife... and since i know he hates that kind of cheesy stuff, he must have meant what he said...
best wgm couple ever... they never tried to force or fake their affection for each other... it was so realistic... the affection gradually grew and was genuine (or at least they fooled me into believing it genuine... and if that's the case, i am a happy fool)

KHJ as Shillang....awwwww. All those beautiful Ssangchu memories. If felt real, my feelings while watching them was real, who can deny that?

I feel like he really grew before my eyes during those 4 months of WGM. He was so awkward and stiff in the beginning and he finally started to open up and be more comfortable in his own skin. Loved how he ran up the mountain with "I'm Your Man" playing in the background. Loved his Einstein hair. Loved how he fell asleep while making a star. Hahahaahaha.

I'm pretty sure I fell for shillang during the farm episode too. I can still remember that he wants to be a lion in his next life. He's afraid of a dragonfly. He got so carried away netting the fish and wanted to make them extinct (I use that line all the time). And, the serenade (how hot is he with the guitar?)...and the case full of folded cranes (I have since folded about 300 paper cranes).

Sigh, I think I need to pull out my WGM videos.

I accidentally stumbled upon Ssanchu, I was watching when InYoung and Crown J were giving out food? to Taeyang and TOP... and then i wanted to see more clips then it somehow lead me to WGM then lo and behold SSANGCHU @ the farm. so I actually fell in love when he was spitting out rice because HB caught the dragonfly... then further cemented my love for him moments later when said dragonfly perched on his head. NEVER HAVE I EVER LOVED AN INSECT SO~

@ V the like oxygen part was cute. sugary. See, if a NON-FAN can see that, IDK why there are anti-ssanchu people. I'm like, he's not the best actor... and he was tired half the time... seriously? Professionalism my ass,

@ DeeDee... I think his clothes showed his change. In the beginning i felt like he was hiding... then toward the end we get fitted shirts/sweaters and skinny jeans. ;)

@ Justkat the guy i liked throughout HS has the same guitar, Epiphone. :D Srsly it's got a nice twang to it irl if you ever get to hear it. It's not as highly sweet sounding as a Takamine, but it does the trick, esp when someone serenades you for your Birthday as we can see in WGM. (Yes i've been serenaded with a Happy bday with that guitar. I've got it recorded in my old cellphone too XD)

also, origami. I've been folding stars and stuff for 12 years... -_- i had long given up on the crane because of a friend's wedding (3 people, 1,000 cranes... in a day? XD)...but since WGM i've started redoing cranes and give it out to the patients i work with. :)

@Anonny: it was after he said "You're defeated"...you can't see his mouth and its not subtitled but you can hear it and then he looked at her afterwards. This was so pointed out by some fans when WGM was airing, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed it too. :)

@ yeisha. plugged in my laptop to the 46" tv and did some investigation. He did say it. But it wasn't in the film at the farm, i believe he asked her that in studio and his mic picked it up. His lips didn't move, and when he goes "you" hwangbo's partially covering him in this frame. "4:53" :frustrated again: >_<

IDK... but i think its sooo totally epically sweet and cute how not only has SJ helped HN grow up and find her dream, but HN was actually the first one in the relationship to influence SJ to make a decision about his future as well.

Soo i guess in away just as stubborn as SJ is being about HN being so unfocused about her future, i think HN would also be equally just as stubborn with SJ, if he started being less focused with his future, too.

dashing from what i've seen in his wedding photshoot with hwangbo in WGM, and in other photshoots as well....
when he was trying the groom suits in WGM, he looked EVERYTHING... it was so funny how hwangbo was so gaga over him... who wouldn't be, seeing him in a suit like that.

just a week ago... most of the comments was about existentialism, life, love, ambition, dreams, independence, self-importance...
and now... most of the comments are about kissing, shower scenes, hugs, etc...

personally, i first didn't like the curly hair during the last few minutes of the episode but by the time the next episode aired, i totally loved it... i think it also had to do with the fact that so many people complained...
i have this weird tendency to feel protective with underdogs, or unloved things... the more something is bashed, the more i have the urge to like it... XD

For most of this episode, I found myself thinking: If it was someone different acting for Seung Jo, would I have fallen in love with him as much as I have?
Personally, I think I would have, but Hyun Joong just adds to how much I love him.
Only thing I DID notice about this was that instead of testing his attraction to Ha Ni, he just tried to make her mad? It didn't make much sense. But yah, who cares.
And um, marriage? I definitely wouldn't complain about that scene, but... they're only eighteen right? =_=
But, overall, a good episode. Afraid to say that I'm more hooked on Sungkyunkwan Scandal though... ;)

finally got sometime to write :)
was watching all the cute scene from epi 14 over and over again and I'm not able to stop becoz I'm not abl to get enough of tender-lover-care BSJ , everytime he hugs OHN I feel butterfly in my stomach , BSJ when he decided to gave up to his love he did it without any bounderies and it's heartwarming .
The last hug scene was cute even though I was pissed off a bit becoz he didn't tell her how much he missed her but then I understood , from what he answered her " I know it , I know it very well " I could Understand he knows what she felt becoz he did feel the same and it was really cute .
I'm waiting for the two last episodes , eventhough I'm sad that it's the end but still I had great time wit you friends and PK addicts , GF and JB :)

PS : v is there any news about SJ's diaries for epi 13 and 14 ?

no... the official korean ones are out... you can find them on the official site.
i checked the chinese forums and it seems someone translated ep 13... however, the chinese-english translator has slept aroudn 4 hours ago so i don't think she'll translate it any time soon.
i've read the korean diaries though and from what i've got from my weak hangul, it'll be worth all the wait... XD

KHJ yanked me out of my reverie 2 times in this episode. Dude, I want enjoy the episode, but your amateur moves pulled me out of the story and into critiquing your technique or lack there of. There was one time that he glanced off stage when the father was accepting his proposal and when he gave Hae Ni a back hug.
Maybe that's bad editing or bad directing. If you make a mistake, shouldn't one use another take?
