Gu Hye-sun’s vampire movie to follow The Musical
by javabeans
Actress Gu Hye-sun is getting ready to put on her director’s hat again with her next film, even as she’s currently working as an actress in the drama series The Musical. The project is her first feature film as the writer-director, an as-yet untitled vampire romance.
She’s written and directed two shorts already, the latter of which, Magic, was released earlier this year to mixed reviews. (The film was called more style than substance, with a plodding plot but strong visual work.) In contrast with Magic, this project aims to be much more commercial and will be filmed on a large scale to do justice to its subject material.
Gu is scheduled to travel to New York for The Musical‘s Broadway location shoots in October. She’ll stay there for about half a month, then return. The vampire movie has been in preparation for the better part of the past year, and will get going once The Musical wraps.

Same here shu. I definitely pale in comparison to her 24 hour working habits. Its difficult for people like her to have a thing called "Vacation".
Wish her luck on her new project & the rest.

Vampire Romance film? I hope it because she saw Twilight and went "Lemme shows these beeches how it's done."
The whole vampire romance thing seems so overdone to me, hopefully she brings something new to the table.

I watched her movie,Yosul, on viikii. For a first full-length movie, with a low budget,it was pretty good. The music was amazing, the cinemagraphy was good,it was very sensitively done. The story was a bit hard to follow.I feel like she has more to say but somehow with keeping the plot going, she couldn't say it all. Definitely she showed potential as a director. Look forward to her new drama, The Musical and new vampire movie.

That is such a cute hair style for her. She should be wearing a Lee Min Ho T-shirt instead of MJ's. She might work alot, but she looks great/healthy, that's great. I have not seen her works because I can't find it with Eng sub yet. She really is like a lotus flower.

I have always loved her ever since I saw her in Seo Dong Yo (Jo Hyun Jae and Lee Bo Young). She was just a support character there but her acting and presence was still noticeable.
She is so pretty! singing, acting, directing, writing, painting - whatever you are doing, GHS, I wish you all the best!

I am just wondering if she got enough investments for this vampire movie and who are the investors. She had trouble getting it the last time until papa YG to the rescue. She needs a lot more than what she got for Magic to make a decent commercial movie.

I saw her full length movie and thought for a beginner with no real academic learning... she did an amazing job with the music, the visual cinematography, metaphors etc . Story plots need some tweeting and perhaps with revisions and advices from experienced writers would definitely make Magic's plot so much stronger. Looking forward to her next full length film, I hope this time she get alot of revision and advice from other writers.

ah...weird... how can you say she has no real academic learning when she graduated with cinema production major in Seoul Institute of the Arts?? Don't brag when you don't even know what you're talking about

I'm so excited about this. I hope her next movie will be more commercial so a lot of people will get to see it. I think Magic was shown to selected theaters only.. I just saw it in viikii too and i was quite impressed. For a first time director, the film was nicely done.
Loving her new hair! She looks younger these days.

She is unbelievable. I even feel tired of reading news about her since there is too much work she is carrying out. Don't know if she can be best at one thing or just so-so at everything. Just wait and see!

I admire Ku Hye Sun for all her talents and her desire to succeed. At 26 she is the perfect age to "do it all."
I once wrote ii a ''review" of SUM in Yesasia that -- When God was handing out talent He called Ku Hye Sun to the front of the line.
I truly hope she will continue to act in front of the camera because I really enjoy watching her perform. I'd also like to see her Book TANGO translated into English so that we can enjoy that part of her talents (actually I'm being selfish - it should be translated in all languages for everyone to enjoy).
Many of us in the New York City area would enjoy seeing her being interviewed on American tv. We'd also like to see her in concerts (like the ones we can only see on Youtube) performed in person on simulcast live on tv,
Perhaps I'm asking too much -- but I can dream.
No matter what -- we'll always be her fans.

@23.1 - I don't think she graduated from Seoul Institute of the Arts. As what I've read before she didn't finish college. She will actually be a freshman in Sungkyunkwan (?)University this coming March 2011, to learn more about directing. Way to go Ku Hye Sun ssi!
