Song Seung-heon back in My Princess
by javabeans
Song Seung-heon has announced his next drama, My Princess (working title). This comes a year after the end of his last drama, East of Eden.
Its scriptwriter Kim Eun-sook is the writer of hit dramas City Hall, On Air, and Lovers In Paris, which already makes this a buzz project. Not much has been identified about the plot (we can guess it’ll start out light and romantic, and ease into the melodramatics in the latter half, if her previous dramas are any indication), but it is planning for an August premiere.
Song Seung-heon is currently working on the remake of A Better Tomorrow (co-starring Joo Jin-mo, Kim Kang-woo, Jo Han-seon), which is slated for a Chuseok holiday release later this fall.
I’m not a fan of all these flippant, generic-sounding titles (Oh My Lady, My Fair Lady) and this one is no different; unless there’s a literal princess involved, it’s not a title that makes much of an impression. That aside, even if I weren’t indifferent to Song Seung-heon, I think the draw here is really the writer. Personally, I haven’t been a great fan of any of her series, but if you have been, this will probably catch your interest.

I think lately this writer has been making stories with a more light mood and almost no melodrama. Based on the dramas I've watched from Kim Eun Sook, I think her scripts has flaws, but most (at least the ones I watched) were kinda like guilty pleasures because they were pretty addicting! ^^

I'm not a fan of Song Seung-heon though. He's not the best actor around and although he's clearly handsome, he's just not my type so his looks aren't enough for me to stand his stiff acting sometimes.

I've only ever LOVED Kim Eun-sook's City Hall, but have watched most of her dramas. I hope SSH's leading lady has great chemistry with him, KES's dramas involve so much banter btw the leads, CH was ultimately such a success in my book was bc of the lightning in a bottle chemistry btw KSA and CSW.
I mentioned hearing SSH looking for a AIMH-esque drama next (which alarmed me greatly), but KES dramas don't give off a Seasons drama vibe at all (except for the tendency to melodrama towards the end, which she is doing less and less of).
Who am I kidding, it's my beloved SSH, who I love for an inexplicable reason, so I'll watch it even if it turns into a STH or Bad Love redux. I hope its just not as long as EoE, I almost had a brain hemmorage watching that week after week.

He Was Cool was my introduction to the wonderful world of Korean entertainment, so Song Seung-heon has a very special place in my heart (although I haven't seen anything of his since).
And I agree with you javabeans: generic, flippant titles are not as much fun as they think they are.

according to sisaseoulnews
The premiere won't be in August, but scheduled to start shooting by August (which has the posibility of being delayed)... SSH, JJM, and casts of Mujeokja may still be promoting their movie by August.

"Lee dae hae are you on vacation?."
Casting them together would be like reuniting Donovan Mcnabb with Terrell Owens. Oh wait . . .
Being that this is a Kim Eun Sook drama, they'll be casting a big female lead with strong Hallyu crossover. So let's work the list . . .
A) Yoon Eun Hye. YEH was born to do a Kim Eun Sook drama. I think this would have big potential.
B) Ha Ji Won. Another star that is overdue for her Kim Eun Sook drama turn. Of course, if somehow Jo In Sung's
C) Kim Ha Neul. A Happy Together reunion would be awesome.
D) Choi Ji Woo. This one makes a lot of sense, but personally I felt Star's Lover (i.e. Lovers in Osaka) may have been the greatest Kim Eun Sook drama not actually written by Kim Eun Sook. The virtues of a Kim Eun Sook drama -- witty banter, rich/poor dynamics, picturesque settings, late-inning melodrama -- were done.
E) Song Hye Kyo. Okay. I dare not dream this. This would be like Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo, Binnie and Suna, or So Ji Sup and Im Soo Jung. I would officially stop thinking. I would just probably OT the OT section int the 600 post section if we saw a reunion.

Oh my Oh my oh my! ^___________^
I hadn't seen Song Seung Heon since --- Gosh, I had watched him in that awesome movie "FATE" (2008), "Autumn Heart", and "East of Eden" -- oooh, he's really cool and doing so good job! (claps)
Oh shush......Jeez, I understand why some people are complaint about him because he's, like, "kinda" okay because he wasn't doing so great job for his acting like that (that happened in East of Eden) (sighs) Don't woooooorrrryy, DON'T wooorrrry, I am sure that Song Seung Heon will TRY TRY TRY his best for his acting will become better and improve -- because of THIS incoming drama "My Princess", I HOPE SO!
(winks & grins) Stay strong, Song Seung Heon, DO your best & FIGHTING!!!

Do you think he will ask the writer to change the script agan this time, in case the second lead got more air time and more charismatic than him?
SOrry to say this but this is the impression I got from him, yeah look at his history ,he is not that good either-military scandal and EOE.

SSH didn't only serve his full military duty. He refuse to be put in a section of "celebrity soldier" where a lot of Korean stars are placed while they serve their time... he served on a Rifle/Artillery unit. Basically, if there was a war between South Korea and North Korea... SSH and his unit would've been on the front lines--please due tell, which Hallyu star of SSH's caliber did that?? and maybe i will consider your perspective a little serious...
January 13, 2010, he received The Distinguished Hallyu Entertainer Award of Merit from the government of South Korea.
Countless Korean writers, Producers, Directors, have testified on interviews, citing his excellence in acting. Many University Professors play countless hours of drama scenes that SSH starred in (amongst others) as a basis of tool and examples of acting.
There are many more positive testimonies that you wouldn't even comprehend about how Koreans think of Song Seung Heon... so before you criticize and spew words of ignorance, i hope you can do a little research about commenting on a person that will make you look stupid with the lists of accolades he has earned.

Well, I have to say that whatever military distinction Song earned, he sort of ruined for himself at the start with the whole draft dodging attempt. I think he and Jang Hyuk have both apologized extensively so I don't hold it against him now, but I also think that you can't QUITE give him that much credit for declining to be in the entertainers' unit when he had to dig himself out of the hole he dug by trying to fake his way out of enlistment in the first place. No way people would have been so forgiving if he had gone into the entertainers' unit after that.
There are quite a number of actors who have declined to enter the entertainers' unit or desk jobs and have opted for active duty, Marines, and Air Force. I don't think that makes them better people, although it's certainly an admirable choice.
Opinions on his acting will vary, but most people will acknowledge that he has greatly improved, but it's also true that he's hardly an actor's actor. Nobody would call him 연기파 배우. And that's not an indictment; not everyone can be Song Kang-ho. But I try to keep things in perspective.

Dear @ 22, not convincing enough, well FYI, I'm working in entertainment industries, don't be so naive abt celebrities and I have been to Korea before, and just for fun I love asking abt the celebrities there (yeah all the nice things abt them), what I got, they were laughing at me, saying how naive I'm.
