i agree in other people's opinion that Lee Ji ah is much better in "the legend" as sujini .. and also i dont like her role in "style" because her looks in that drama is not good ..
but all i can say is "why are those people mad at her character?"

i have to agree with you there jb. it is just my personal opinion which i happen to share with my bff here - we just don't get it when she acts. i would say she gives me the same vibe given by lee ha na(women in the sun, when spring comes) - the acting is stiff and as you put it so aptly jb - lacks sincerity.

i am almost 80% sure i will skip athena.

Lee Jia was very good at the physical side of the acting required in The Legend, perhaps she can bring that to her role, if it is a more action girl role than anything else.

Honestly LJA acting skill is still poor ,she speaks english well but nothing to do
with acting skill .

I don't like her because of her un-proportional body. Her legs and arms are thin but her body's really fat. That makes she's ugly in everything she wears (I remember seeing she's in white dress at a party/award, ohhhhh, really un-proportional, I say).
Her acting is nothing special, too.

I wish the production team would read this blog so that they they'd reconsider her casting after seeing how so many of the overseas fans are unhappy with the casting, especially since I'm sure Iris will be sold to countries outside of Korea.

Hmmm as some others have commented above, Lee Jia isn't the best actress, but she certainly isn't the worst. She's just ordinary. Perhaps a tad too ordinary.

In any case, I'm not interested in any of the cast, so I'll give it a miss then...

LOL! Lee Ji Ah sure turned a lot of ppl into anti-fans with Style... very bad drama choice and she was horrid in it (I can't believe I semi-followed it halfway). However I'm not really ready to give up on the her yet, so I'm one of the few ones not throwing stones at this piece of news. I wasn't interested in Athena to begin with, but now I'm actually a bit interested... this kind of role might suit her better (though as ppl has pointed out, if she doesn't bring it she'll be eaten alive), I've been wanting to see her in a more serious role. I'm still hoping that she'll improve as an actress!

I can't stand her. Let me qualify that...I too couldn't put my finger on it for a long time, but she just turned me off. Then it dawned on me why I don't like her...she OOZES (and this is MY opinion) arrogance and "my shit don't stink" attitude. It doesn't come across immediately in interviews because with the Korean public she uses the stereotypical "giggling with hand over mouth" persona, but I don't think that's who she is. When you see her in an unplanned moment, that's when you catch sight of her arrogant and above-it-all attitude. I can't stand her for her forced "dark princess" persona, when she dresses all up in black and bangles. It's so forced. And her personal website, more of the same dark princess (fake) persona. And that STUPID, vanity dress she wore that time with "bright" written across it and the string tied around her finger. It's stuff like that. She annoys me. Apparently, BYJ hates her, too, since he wouldn't even look at her the entire time they were doing promotions for Legend. I wonder what he knows that we don't know.

Oh yeah, and I find her extensive plastic surgery annoying also. Who the hell is this woman?? She came out of nowhere, supposedly had been attending fashion school in NY when she was "discovered" (at age 26??). Her whole face has been re-done, most noticeably that god-awful NOSE, but her cheeks are weird, too, and she's had her mouth widened. I would KILL to know her back story, how she was found, WHO FRONTED FOR HER, etc.

In other words, she's a mystery...but not in a good way.

and @80: sung yuri definitely lacks subtlety, but i don't think her acting was wooden at all in HGD. in fact, she was quite endearing and had good chemistry with KJH.

omg, putting acting aside.. I thought I was the only one who was annoyed of her attitude outside of the whole drama/movie scene!
I haven't even watched her interviews, but that one drama awards ceremony (the one when she was there for 'Legend') just turned me off immediately~
She just seemed like she lacked manners.. didn't even know how to smile (could have at least faked one to please fans and reporters?) and she'd strut around with her hair in her face like she owned the place! And, I'm sorry.. I never went to fashion school, but I'm pretty sure I could have whipped out a better dress than that horrid white dress she apparently designed.

I have seen several K-movies, in fact i have already collected more than 200 CDs/DVDs of K-dramas/movies and I can say that LJA acting is ok compared to some actresses who are already more experienced in acting in the entertainment industry. In fact I have seen that even some famous actress also acted in an overacting way, but i understand them, for maybe the script and the director required them to act that way. So to THOSE WHO GAVE A VERY CONDEMNING comment to some actresses who tried their best to portray the role in the script, PLEASE REFRAIN from giving comments that could insult and degrade the actresses. You try to put your feet in their shoes, what would be your feelings? That is why there are many korean celebrities who committed suicide because of some degrading comments in the internet. I hope your not a korean since you there have been posting a very negative comment to your native korean actress. Maybe you are just jealous and have a crab mentality, pulling someone on the top. And for the your information, I am a filipina from the Philippines.

Well i understand that each/every one has/have her/his own opinion to an actress she likes or not but they also should refrain from commenting in a very negative way which also could hurt the feeling of that person. Im not a fan of Lee Ji Ah, but i like to watch Korean dramas which 4 out of 200 DVDs are Legend, Style, Beethoven Virus and Relation of face mind and love. It seems to me that her acting is Ok for a new actress. In fact there are also several actresses in some of the dramas i watched were also over acting but i think they act like that coz they required to act that way as per directors order and base on the script they wanted to portray.If you dont like the actress, then dont watch the drama/movie or it is you have a crab mentality[neg commentators]. Just put yourself in their shoes.
