Lee Min-ki rocks out
by javabeans
…wearing a skirt? (Not that I’m that surprised.)
Lee Min-ki took the stage on the evening of January 29 at Seoul’s Mel-On Ax Hall for the newly launched “Locksmith Adventure,” the first concert put on by the Locksmith music label. Headliners were the Belgian electronic duo 2 Many DJs, while other artists such as electronic artist Sheean (with whom Lee previously recorded a song) and Japanese group 80kidz also performed.
Lee Min-ki has performed at festivals as a special guest with other artists, but this is the first concert where he performed under his own name. He put out his first mini-album last year, No Kidding, while continuing his acting career. With the success of disaster flick Haeundae, he now gets to bear the title of “10 million ticket actor.”

Maybe the next couple of days will be extremely un-newsworthy in Kdramaland, so my baby can stay right where he is.

LOL reminds me of the pictures my sister took at Jingle Bell Bash, a concert put on by a local radio station every year right before Christmas in Seattle. Ty from All American Rejects had worn a blue dress for the occasion.

He should have worn pants, then that skirt over it. He would looked just fine then.

I was having a slow, sleepy morning but then decided to drop by here. In a matter of minutes I have turned into a laughing idiot (my husband now thinks I'm insane!). The comments are hilarious, of course, but the Scottish Korean just did me in!! Thanks, guys, for the morning wake up call!

Wonderful acting talent? Check
Questionable musical side career? Check
Strange, hot mess of a haircut? Check
Odd outfit purposely assembled to throw us off of the trail of his extreme good-looking-ness? Check
I officially proclaim Lee Min Ki the Johnny Depp of South Korea!

Sorry, love artists going out on a limb, but hate the skirt. Reminds me way too much of my old school uniform, and a hot young man wearing my school uniform is just so wrong.

Oh dear! I just had a flash back to high school. They made us wear a similar pleated skirt/skort as our uniform!!! We got to wear white ankle socks though not black.
From the waist up, HOT! Waist down, not so hot.

@ 73 ladylgraine
I don't think it's lunacy at all. I think he's really lucky to have the luxury of pursuing his passion. A lot of people don't get (or don't take) the opportunity to do that. I admire him for taking a risk like this, because it takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there and open yourself up to criticism. He's not immersing himself in a character, he's letting people see HIM. Whether or not he's the best musician or the best singer really doesn't matter, it's still quite brave. And quirky! Nothing wrong with that. ;-)
As you can probably tell from all the squealing earlier I am very very partial to LMK, but I would honestly say the same thing about anyone choosing to do something they love, rather than something they might be better at. I'd be willing to bet he got a lot more satisfaction after this concert ended than from strolling down a runway or making a movie (even though those paychecks were probably considerably higher)! More power to him, I say.

He's trying to pull a v-kei with that skirt isn't he?!
It could work because he has long hair.. but he needs to play it up a bit more for it to be interesting and not be considered strange...

there might have been a theme? I noticed that the other artists, including Min Ki are wearing some type of white band on one arm. For a moment there I had thought there was a death in the family!
Saw photos of Min Ki at his B-day party held 6 days ago by fans! The cake tiered cupcake looked so cute especially with the pokemon figure Min Ki is supposed to resemble prominently displayed at the front top layer of the cake.

I actually read some of the text ^^ and found this line interesting in light of the discussion above:
"[Clothes he modeled included jeans]...along with two knapsacks that crisscrossed across his back – and as peculiar as it may be, Lee Minki came up with the idea for this look himself!" IOW he's someone who is interested in pushing fashion boundaries. Like we didn't know that already!!

"He’s trying to pull a v-kei with that skirt isn’t he?!"
Kinda fails in that regard. The skirt says Gackt-sama and promises yaoi french kissing between him and the drummer. But the shirt says "I'm still a serious Korean guy."
Only a Kim Hee Chul fully indulges in the pleasure principles of visual kei: boys in dresses and sloppy, sloppy kisses. ;)

@20 Samsooki, you really have the knack at finding the most appropriate videos to suit the topic at hand. I thought the Finding Nemo "Mine" video for Open Thread "meat market" a couple of weeks back was hysterical and now this. Man, you are the man!
Talking about man, not many man can pull off this look that Lee Min Ki is sporting. Lee Min Ki, Kim Jae Wook and Jang Geun Seok are some of the few who can.

Dear MinKi,
I love you. I really do. But that black skort thing is ridickulous. If Marc Jacobs couldn't pull it off, then you most definitely cannot. More importantly, if we're going to continue this me-drooling-over-you-and- constantly-looking-for-new-youtube-videos-of-awkward-you-relationship, you're going to have to improve your fashion sense.
I get that you want to be a rockstar. But you look more like a POSEUR in rockstar threads than an actual rockstar.
Please turn into Kang Tae Bong again. kthnxbaii.
