Lee Min-ho takes the lead in Personal Taste
by javabeans
Lee Min-ho has picked his next project!
Remember Personal Taste? Based on a popular novel, the drama adaptation had once been rumored to reunite Goong stars Yoon Eun-hye and Joo Ji-hoon, but after a lot of unconfirmed talk, the project fizzled. The story would have starred the male lead as a straight guy pretending to be gay to live together with the female lead and, well, stuff would ensue.
On January 11, Lee Min-ho’s management announced that he would star in the MBC drama, which now appears to be in different production hands. (The first round was to be directed by Kim Sang-ho, who did the comedy Fantasy Couple and horror thriller Hon.) Now the director will be Sohn Hyung-seok of family drama Job Well Done and Kim Sun-ah’s When Night Comes; writing is Park Hye-kyung of Stained Glass. (I think I preferred the first PD…)
Lee Min-ho’s role is of “Jeon Jin-ho,” who passes himself off as gay. His hobbies (?) include organization and ironing, and he’s known for his stoic poker face. He’s a stickler for cleanliness, but he also has a talent for figuring out women’s feelings.
Personal Taste hasn’t yet chosen its female lead, and will begin filming in late February for an April premiere.

Yes, yes and yes!!! Min Ho is back! I am glad he chose this role as it sounds interesting. Also happy he decided on a comedy. Sincerely hope that this is another memorable role for him.
@11 Samsooki - "After Antique Bakery, I think JJH would be just perfect. And maybe YEH could use a little JJH to rekindle the magic…"
Totally agree with you. Alas Joo Ji Hoon is "far far away". I am sure, however, that Lee Min Ho is up to the challenge. Meanwhile, waiting for JJH's return someday.
@70 nom_kitteh - "I am voting for Jang Geun Suk for the other lead. Just sayin’. Not that I am broken record with a crush on JGS or anything. Pfft."
Lol! Missing Jang Geun Seok huh? Me too. Hope he has another great drama role soon.

actually rooting for YEH and LMH, always wanted them to do something together. Oh and if she's not plausible, Park Shin Hye :) but then again i think they would cast someone older than him that looks young.

Ok, I thought about it. Yesterday I was too excited to know LMH had picked another drama and I was glad this drama was picked up again that I didn't really stop and think about it. Mine was a knee-jerk reaction to the news.
So I thought about it and...I'm not so thrilled as I was yesterday. Why? Cos back when rumors began to spread about this drama and people -and I include myself here- were all excited about the possibility of JJH and YEH being casted in it, I started envisioning a drama about, well, characters in their late 20s/early 30s. JJH was perfect imho (and I didn't jump on the JJH/YEH bandwagon because of Goong, but cos I thought they would do good with this kind of material) and I could list WHY I thought he was perfect (his looks, his acting, etc etc) but it might turn into a long comment so I'll skip this bit.
Now, LMH is good and all and I really like him, but...gah! I had warmed to the idea of a guy in his late 20s, confortable in his skin and confident of his sexuality, someone who already has a "history" and I figured the writers would play with that, which, imho, would make for a different drama. And um, I don't know if this can work just as well with a younger character? *ponders*
Ah well. We'll see. *fingers crossed*

I agree with Kwon Yuri. I've seen Yoona's acting already- and so far, it's alright. But I can't picture her with Lee Minho (even after watching the 45th Baeksang Awards where they both went up on stage together to receive their awards).
I think Yuri should do it. Her acting is great! Moon Chaewon needs a new drama too though- so maybe her.

I have to say I don't agree with idols like Yuri, Yoona or whatever. The novel sounds to have some hot love scenes. So more mature leading lady is preferable. Unless they cut and soften it for the sake of the dramas.
Moon Chae Won is not a bad option, but I'd rather see him having opportunities to cooperate with other actresses, like YEH, Lee Ha Na. Or even perhaps the older one like Han Ga In?

Wow! Interesting taste in the drama. I wonder who will be the female lead. I hope the girl will be at the same age as him. It seems nowadays people like to pair younger man w/ older woman. I haven't read the novel yet, but I think it will be new and original idea.

I like Park Bo Young too but I think she looks too cute and young for this drama.

--> It's because I am sure that it would be good for Lee Min Ho & Park Shin Hye together in a new drama "Personal Taste" -- I HOPE SO! Awwies....I can't believe that Lee Min Ho had known Park Bo Young and Moon Chae Won for a long time like as "old buddies", lolz.
Ohh......SNSD Yuri & Lee Min Ho ?? How interesting......
Anyway, I will enjoy watching Lee Min Ho act like "gay" guy this drama & I pray for the guessing (??) main female lead would be -- Park Shin Hye!

Oh, i would love to see MCW with LMH. She's a great actress and she always has amazing chemistry with her co-star even when she's not the main lead (recalling how I got excited over MCW-JIW couple in My Fair Lady). I regard both MCW and LMH as promising young actors. I have a perception that promising couple pairing is rarely disappointing since they know how to play with their emotion and express it on the screen.

What great news this is ~ to hear that Lee Min-ho has finally
chosen his next acting project. This story-line sounds as if
it has the makings to be a really delightful romantic comedy.
And for the fans who already thought that LMH was the perfect
man as Gu Jun-pyo, the addition of scenes of him....as a man
who enjoys ironing.....will put him in "Perfection Heaven." :)
Seriously, I'm sure that it was very difficult for LMH to choose
just the right balance, after his dazzling fireworks performance
in "Boys Over Flowers." Any role that even remotely resembled
GJP, would have "prooven" that that role was all he could do........
OR
.......if he had chosen his next role as someone evil, like an insane
ax murderer, the LMH ~ GJP fan club would have been outraged.
A no-win situation for him, in either case.
I'm really glad that he took his time before deciding what role
to do next. There should have been plenty of time to spare (I hope)
during all of those commercials, endorsements, and clothing photo
shoots that he's done, for him to read plenty of scripts.
And I hope that his contract with the producers allows him time to sleep ~
Wishing LMH all the best ~ with this role, and for his future career!

I know that some people complain that she's over rated but I really like
Yoona and I think she looked good with LMH last year when they
both won the New Actor award at one of the ceremonies. While I like
Yuri a lot...I don't know whether she can act or not. What I have seen
(skits and stuff), I sort of thought she over acts but I like her so I'm going to
reserve judgement until I see her in a series.
So I guess I vote Yoona.

@118: Yoona can NOT even act for christ sakes! and Yuri's only acted in a sitcom before- so you can't judge on whether she could take lead or not.
anyway, for those who have rooted for yuri- chances are impossible mainly because she has already been casted in another sitcom (that is airing after HTTR). from there, i'm sure we'll see another silly side of her. she'll do great!

Yuri's acting in a sitcom soon? COOL. I loved her in UM =)
#118= Just because one hasn't shown their other side of acting as a lead beforehand doesn't mean they can't act. In example, Lee Boyoung started out as a villain- then a few years later, she became knownst for picking up in lead roles. Another example is Han Hye Jin - she was also the same.
I'm sure Yuri will be just as great, or even better, than Yoona and Uee (whoever she is). Maybe it's just not her time to be lead yet- but you should'nt have to be so immature about this and downgrade someone who is in a much much much higher position than you are already.

I think I changed my mind. I'm gonna vote for YEH instead of MCW. Since MCW and LMH have already paired before and I highly doubt it that they'll be paired again for this next drama. My only hope is that the female lead won't look older in comparison to him. It'll be weird if it does. Or... they have to find another new fresh look, so that we won't be too disappointed for expecting who's gonna be his best love interest in this drama.

Reading through the 150+ comments from everyone,
I seem to be one of the few people who haven't
suggested an actress for the lead in "Personal Taste."
I'm pretty new to Korean TV, so I did a search of the
actresses who have already been suggested; some
of them I've seen in kdramas, others I've never heard of.
So it would be pretty stupid of me to comment...............:)
I'm watching the 100+ episode drama "Jolly Widows" now.
Park Han Byul is in it, and she does a good job with her role.
But I got to thinking about another actress from "Jolly Widows"
who I think would be perfect in this LMH drama.....as a sophisticated,
maybe older, can't be bothered with romance, career woman.
How about Jo An?
Her site shows 3 photos of her ~ now, pretty sexy, and as a cute schoolgirl.

Yuri can't even act well in sitcoms & small skits. What makes you believe she can act better in a big drama as the lead?? Hell just have all the idol group members move on into acting! -.-
@146 Kendra
Why yes I am immature and I already know Yuri's in a "much much much higher position" than me but she still can't act. I wish she'll just stick to singing and dancing and MCing
