A Man Called God prepares for overseas shoots
by javabeans
This news has been rumored for many months already, but finally it’s confirmed by producers: Song Il-kook is on for MBC’s upcoming drama series A Man Called God [신이라 불리운 사나이]. This means he’ll be following two big historical roles (Jumong, Kingdom of the Wind) with a contemporary one in this “love story about a modern-day hero.”
The drama is adapted from Park Gong-sung’s manhwa of the same name and, beginning in mid-February, plans for location shooting in Hawaii — a first for Korean dramas. Included on the list of shoot locales are the city of Honolulu and Waikiki Beach, among other famous hot spots. The writer is Lee Hong-gu (whose online profile appears to be empty), while the director is Lee Hyung-sun (of 2007’s MBC series Be Near Me and the 2006 comedy film Moodori).
A Man Called God will follow the current weekend drama Assorted Gems and premiere on March 13.

The title confuses me. "A Man called God?" I hope they are not refering to Song Il Gook?

This seems interesting! Except, I'm a bit worn out by "hero" dramas now... If it's about man whose all about justice and ready to save the day, than I probably won't be watching it... unless it turns out to be good.

Im sooooooo happy that he has finally made up his mind to star in a new drama. You know, some actors/actresses would sit it out until they get the perfect script (or so they think) and the waiting would stretch to 1yr and then yearsssssss.
But not him .... Im so glad I would be seeing him on TV again.
@2 moana
you could try approaching his fan club in Hawaii.
javabeans, is the writer Lee Hong-gu (as what you've written) or Yee Hong-gu?

@2 moana, by all means, contact the SIK Hawaii Fan Club at http://gentlesongilkookhawaii-usa.com/
I'm sure they'll be very much involved in SIK's shooting in Hawaii.
In fact, the fan club there is one of the reasons he decided to choose Hawaii to shoot his next drama.

Anyone catch SIG at the KBS acting awards? That was one weird look. I thought he was channeling John Waters in drag, which is saying a LOT. ^^ Such a relief to see him above, looking like himself.

Hopefully this modern drama is better than Lobbyist. As much as I love SIK, I just could not finish that series.

I will be looking forward to the new drama . Looks exciting -is that how Il Guk will look like in the drama (like a rocker ?).In a recent released photo he's cool with that rocker look . His hairstyle reminds me of Kim Hyun Joong when he danced rainism .

Looking forward to this SIG k-drama. From the preview, he looks physically terrific. . SIG is great actor. Jumong introduced me to K-dramas and has been my all time favorite. SIG is unforgettable in Jumong. This is exciting!
