Lee Da-hae takes on a male disguise for Chuno
by javabeans
Lee Da-hae dresses in drag in these latest stills for the upcoming fusion action sageuk Chuno (Pursuing Slaves), although I think the men’s clothes hardly obscure her gender at all. (Of all the recent ladies we’ve seen dressing as men — Lee Yo-won, Moon Geun-young, heck, even Park Shin-hye — I think Lee Da-hae is the least convincing. She’s just too pretty in a very feminine way.)
Lee Da-hae plays Hye-won, a woman who is born a slave and is adopted into a noble family and passed off as an aristocratic young lady. She’s disappointed in love with Jang Hyuk’s character, and in deciding to take her fate into her own hands, she runs away from home. In the process, she has to hide her identity and dresses in men’s clothing, speaking as little as possible and trying to keep as low a profile as she can.
Chuno premieres on KBS on January 6.

lol not to be taken seriously. In all TV shows or films there comes a time when you know, they know, everyone knows! but for the sake of enjoyment you can suspend belief to play along..or you never going to enjoy many drama or films..the trick is not to use to to often or it gets to be Too much of a distraction.
One perfect case in point..the girl pretending to be a guy.
You have ones Like Coffee Prince or Painter with the wind, where its an ongoing and major part of the drama, so the actress can over time build up and layer her role to be more convincing as much as she can as a male. You know these sort because on the main the actress doesn't wear make-up Then you have ones like this where its only a side plot, where the actress has no chance to built up her persona of many episodes. So why bother, she is the lead so make her as cute as you can, and all but the most anal can do the suspend belief trick. And yes in these sort they do use make-up, as everyone knows she a girl, why try to make her less pretty, the trick is to make her look Cute!
Perfect case in Point the Chinese show Bratty Princess and Jang Nara's ultra cuteness

biscuit, we understand that for a lot of these characters, cross-dressing and have it be instantaneously believable is expecting too much. but that's not our beef, i'm pretty sure. for me, the biggest pet peeve is that all the other characters believe these thinly webbed lies, girls who OBVIOUSLY look like girls and we're supposed to accept that. actually thats one of the biggest reasons why i couldn't get over You're Beautiful and gave up watching it. i mean, i know Korean guys are really feminine (especially idols), but how stupid did the producers think we were????

put some effort!!
annoyed me already. she be [pretty whatsoever and you the fans can loved her as much as you want but can she the least shed her vains to be believable.
at least the fringe and the bangs. OMG!! I felt turn off just by looking at her.
you know the actresses who acted in DAMO, moon gue yong and many others didn't afraid to look dirty or at least made the character believable even if it is a fusion seaguk. Don't blame the director, stylist whatsoever. If you are a serious, brilliant actress who serious about their acting they will suggest and make a damn move to stand what we should in our character!
