Drama theme-song ringtones
by javabeans
Somehow the mention of ringtones came up on the last Open Thread, and I posted some ringtones that I’d made of You’re Beautiful OST songs. I got some requests, so I thought I’d put more up in a separate post, in case anyone else was interested.
(These are short mp3 clips that you can download onto your phone IF your phone is capable of mp3 ringtones. I know some phones have size limits for mp3s — mine is 500kb — and most of these clips are under 30 seconds and in the 200kb-400kb range. Download link at bottom.)
For example:
YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL
I’m sure most of you are familiar with this soundtrack so I don’t need to post clips, but I’ll put them up just in case:
Jang Geun-seok – “말도 없이” (Without Words)
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Jang Geun-seok – “Good Bye”

A.N.JELL – “Promise” verse

A.N.JELL – “Promise” chorus

Park Shin-hye – “Lovely Day”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Some of you expressed reservations about using ringtones that might be embarrassing to sound in public, so here are a few instrumental versions to spare you the mortification.
“여전히” (Still) bossa version
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
“말도 없이” (Without Words) piano version – verse
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
“말도 없이” (Without Words) piano version – chorus
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
And the rest, in no particular order:
COFFEE PRINCE
For nostalgia’s sake.
Belle Epoque – “May” or the “chestnut scene song.”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
The Melody – “La La La, It’s Love”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
FreeTempo – “Immaterial White”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Low End Project – “연애를 망친 건… 바로 나라는 걸 알았다” (I Know I’m the One Who Ruined our Relationship)
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
STRONGEST CHIL WOO
Some dramas barely left a blip on the radar but had some memorable tunes, like this one. I like this song so much that I made three different ringtones out of three different parts of the song. It’s Joseon Korea with a dash of Zorro/Americana thrown in as well. What’s not to love?
Strongest Chil-woo OST – “Western Whistle” – intro portion
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Part 2
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Part 3
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
RETURN OF ILJIMAE
This drama’s soundtrack has some of the most beautiful instrumentals I’ve ever heard in a drama, particularly the plum-blossom theme song below.
Return of Iljimae theme
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Return of Iljimae – “매화가 흐드러진 날 ” (A Day the Plum Blossoms Were Beautiful)
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
I.S. (Infinite of Spring) – “Asian Flower.” This isn’t expressly from the soundtrack, but was used in an episode.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
BOYS BEFORE FLOWERS
To be honest, I can’t quite see anyone using this ringtone without (1) a healthy dose of irony, and/or (2) shame, but I had to make it nonetheless!
The infamous “Paradise” by T-Max
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
STORY OF A MAN
This song still gives me a little thrill whenever I hear that crescendoing guitar riff. I actually use this as my alarm clock song in the mornings:
Story of a Man OST – “세상을 너에게” (The World To You)
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
GOONG
Another drama with one of the best soundtracks around. Perhaps it shouldn’t be a surprise that the PD who did this series also did Return of Iljimae.
Goong Theme Song
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Goong – “Crystal Flower”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
GOONG S
Unfortunately for Goong S‘s case, I think its soundtrack was better than its plot. 🙁
Second Moon – “구름같은 세상” (Cloudlike world)
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
MY FAIR LADY
Davichi – “Hot Stuff
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
MY NAME IS KIM SAM-SOON
Clazziquai – “Be My Love”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
THE WORLD THEY LIVE IN
I don’t feel particular attachment to this drama, but I think it has a great, peppy theme song.
As One – “La la la… Love Song”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
OTHER
And then, here are some other selections from some Korean indie and electronic bands I like. Sometimes you might not want a highly recognizable (or potentially embarrassing) ringtone to give you away in public, but maybe you want something a little different, something that other people might be intrigued by and/or envy you for. I think these do a good job:
Clazziquai – “Sweety”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Hourmelts – “Your World, My Nest, Vague Trust”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Humming Urban Stereo – “Sounds Market”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Mot – “11 Over 8”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Oldfish – “Movement”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Sentimental Scenery – “Oriental Snow”
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

You are the bestest friend a k-drama addict could have! I like how you did the instrumental ones for samsooki :)
I used to have the SS501 "Because I'm stupid" introduction as my ringtone but the other half reset my iPhone and with it, my ring tone. Argh. Will need to re-do it.
Oh, I forgot to mention that FreeTempo "immaterial white" is my favourite pick me up song in the morning when going to work. It's a great work out song, no?

You can open .rar files on a Mac with programs like UnRarX or The Unarchiver. Try downloading those programs and you should be able to open the folder.

"Some of you expressed reservations about using ringtones that might be embarrassing to sound in public, so here are a few instrumental versions to spare you the mortification."
Do you read minds? Cos er, I'd sure feel embarassed even though most of the people I know would just frown, confused. Korean songs are not exactly popular here. Or known, for that matter. Actually, the Korean language is unknown to pretty much...uh everyone here? Sad truth

I've always wanted the actual ringtone of Hyun Bin's phone in MNIKSS. Any chance you can make that happen? I think I can figure out how to get the ringtone to work on my Treo but I'm not sure I have that same capability for the iPhone. Thanks for the uploads.

Thank you so much for all the ringtones, JB... and for your concern for our "reputation" ;-)
