I am not one to fall for commercials and I don't buy based on what other people have said or whether some famous person puts their name on a product.
And I especially am averse to buying products that are part of the "if you call now, we will throw in a free gift, or we will double your order." Rather than giving me double the number of crappy items, why not just cut the price in half, so that I don't have to pay $19.95 + S/H, but only $9.975, + 1/2 of the S/H?
But, I am intrigued, intrigued by the Slapchop. I know who the frontman is, and that's a negative, but has any one actually tested this product and seen whether it works? It really seems like a great idea.
You hit the thing, and voila, your vegetables are chopped.
That's it. Nothing to plug in, nothing to cut your fingers on.
I don't know why I am suddenly thinking about it on this Friday... okay, back to work.

@26 samsooki
I haven't used the slapchop (what a terrible name lol) myself, but I was watching Food Network the other day and one of their chefs was using one (with the name cleverly hidden), so I would assume it works.
I like the idea of drinking coffee and eating cupcakes for OT 100. Maybe we should take a photo and put them up here?

Could not agree more with your B & W comments. Vic and Mark had WAY more chemistry with each other than either of them did with any of the women. If they had just fallen for each other instead it might have been the perfect drama! :-)
I had not seen the guy who played the # 2 Mafia guy in anything before but I also thought he was fantastic. He does broody and menacing yet strangely honorable VERY well and he ended up being one of my favorite characters. Kingone just needs to play baddies from now on, because he's much better at it than always being the # 2 guy (at least in the few Tdramas I've seen him in). Hot Dog Boy was great and I found myself wishing he'd get the girl in the end (after all, Hero and Ruffian had each other)!

I am being seriously tempted. I just got forwarded this link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzD_oVgzKMc
I should actually confess. I asked for and received Shamwow for last xmas. The buyer bought it through Bed Bath and Beyond, thus voiding the return policy and 10 year warranty (only direct phone orders will receive the 10 year warranty). Shamwow absolutely, completely, utterly and forever doesn't work. It literally pushes water around, it doesn't pick up any liquid, it doesn't dry anything. I was actually really really excited to receive my shamwow, especially after watching the commercial because one day I hope to have a boat, and I wanted to have one of the shamwow's for my future boat, just like the commercial.
Anyway, okay, NOW back to work.

I totally love the Jdrama "Pride". I became a fan of Kimura Takuya ever since then. His other drama Engine is also good. I highly recommend both jdramas.
As for Kdramas, I'm hooked on watching My Fair Lady. I can't wait for the next episode.

sucks that your prof did that to you! i also walked into a class once to find out that the required reading list she had submitted to the bookstore turned out to be the optional reading list! roar!
@11 djes
gosh a 15-minute earthquake- especially one at 7.6 on the ritcher scale! even if the earthquake was harmless, i would have probably died of fright.
@24 epyc
i haven't seen black & white, but regarding KingOne Wang- in his previous roles in Devil Beside You and Why Why Love, though he played a boring good guy...in both dramas, there was one point where he would just snap and reveal a darker side. always thought it was the sexiest thing! to think he's a baddie in black and white...eee!!! going to need to fan myself while watching it.

I just can't wait the Meteor Shower sequel, it was quite different from the other versions, that's why I like it, it has to said that not everyone stands chinese or tw humor, for me watching Shangguan and Ye Shuo was just so great and funny.
Really hope they change Yu Hao Ming hairstyle, I meas it was awful. :)

@24 epyc - oh so glad you enjoyed B&W!! it was a very fulfilling drama and yet also left open at the end so that the movie could continue. i cannot wait for the movie (though I think it's barely starting production yet..if it's even at that stage). and yes i really enjoyed kingone's role. he is SO boring as the good guy and i have never liked him until this show. and the FTLY PA guy.. nice turn from his previous light hearted role to this serious one. :)

@ 30 samsooki
I've got the shamwow, and it works...okay. Mine isn't as bad as yours seems to be, but I have to wash it pretty often because it soaks up smells and becomes that 5 year old sponge in like a week. GROSS.
I've got a traditional vegetable chopper and it doesn't work nearly as well as the slap chop seems to, so I'm pretty tempted as well. That video is amazing.

Nooooo...(imagine me doing the Su-min finger waggle from MFL). Don't go back to work! Stay here and play (come to the Dark Side...we have chocolate)!
I was JUST about to head to YouTube to investigate this "slapchop" you speak of, then you cosiderately provided a link, complete with the SlapChop Rap. THIS is why we need you on OT Fridays!

I love the spliced-in break-dancing dancers on the Rap Chop.
Doesn't everyone chop vegetables? Eggs? Fruit? I chopped veggies last night. It took me almost a minute. Imagine if you could shave, 15, nay, even 20 seconds off of your dinner prep time. Imagine how much better your life would be.

Like you Samsooki, I am also very weary about products on informericals because they never seem to work as well as when they are being advertised. I try to steer clear of anything that has a "AS SEEN ON TV" sign on the box...hahah
this is my first time posting, i am really enjoying reading all of everyone's comments/thoughts.
By the way, has anyone seen the TW drama "My Queen"? Just wanted to see if there were any thoughts/comments out there about it.
Have a great long weekend to all those in the US!

Oooh, that's an idea. I just thought of an idea...
Dramabeans' readers each donate a tiny bit of money and then together, we purchase a SlapChop and send it to Javabeans, in honor of the one hundredth Open Thread.
I don't remember the actual commercial, but isn't it, if you buy right now, we will double your order? Then Javabeans can use the second SlapChop as a prize in a future dramabeans' sweepstakes.
=)

Hey guys! Happy OT #99! Manse!! Hm, I wonder how the people on this thread will have changed by the next 100.
Dramas! The trouble with these kpop fandoms is that they interfere with your drama watching! Arck!! Right now I'm going through AADBSKIII, after which I was planning to pick up Buzzer Beat... but yesterday I 'accidentally' watched a vid of a kiss from Cain and Abel.. it was funny and cute and, er, different, and SO JI SUB and HAN JI MIN! Then I watched an mv, and got to exactly 1 minute and 43 seconds before I stopped, squealed into my fist and realised I needed to have watched this drama like yesterday. I have the feeling this will interfere with my list. DAMN MY LIST. When I heard about CaA, I was SUPER excited about the OTP and turned off by the expected medical stuff... But, unf, OTP.
I'm looking forward to Black and White! ZaiZai! <3 And everyone says its brilliant. 'Tis on the list.

watched Meteor shower and it was BLAH...funny how the production said it wasn't a remake of HYD but almost all the events were the same. Hope the author at least get some credit, not to mention copy rights etc. I haven't seen Black and White with Vic and Mark but heard lots of good stuff about it. So definitely will give it a try. Seen so many k-dramas already haven't found any that excite me anymore...so still waiting...maybe Iris? J-drama Pride was LOVE, it had exceeded my expectations so definitely recommend for anybody that likes romance and good looking guys!

Speaking of Meteor Shower I’ve been watching it for some time now and quite disappointed with how they shot the b-day of Yun Hai, unlike in Taiwan version its one of the highlight of Meteor Garden even K and J version makes outstanding adaptation but the china version is such a garbage it was rashly and poorly done and didn’t make justice on the MT saga. I say this because its one of the highlight of the story. It brings to mind how touched Dao Ming Si is when San Shi gave the cookies as her gift and indirectly declare war against Dao Ming’s mother. But I can’t deny that Yun Hai and Yu Xun make a good pair, they were so young and full of life. If you have much time to be idle make this in your list and have the headache comparing the versions….lol just be accommodative on the story I’m trying that now since I accept the challenged to watch till the end.

@Samsooki: Glad to see your posting on Dramabeans again. You've been quiet for awhile. I love watching informericals since I'm a night owl. They bring me laugher. I often ask myself, "Who in his right mind buys these things?" Then, I brought one, Orange Glo Power Paste Foaming Cleanser. It worked. It does a great job cleaning my stovetop and oven.
Happy Labor Day weekend to everyone. Have fun. Eat, drink, and be merry. Most of all, be safe.

Anyone going to Bumbershoot this weekend in Seattle? I'm planning on going on Monday and I always have this excitement/terror of going to giant music festivals. I'm so excited to see musicians I adore, but I'm terrified that they're going to suck. I went to see M83 last year and it was BY FAR the worst concert I've ever been to. I think the singer was afraid of speaking in English, and it's all electronic so there wasn't anything to look at.

Ugh, this week has been hectic with the first week of Grad school. I'm glad it's over so normal hours can get started! Plus I'm still having problems adjusting to the time zone, along with the fact I'm sick. Thank deity I have a four day weekend to do homework and try to recover! With how I feel I don't even think I'm going to work out today. Love reading about My Fair Lady by the way! I'm not sure I'd have the patience right now to watch it, but it's quite fun to read the recaps.
