Whoo! Happy Friday everyone!
I've been on a mission all week--painting my room. The rest of my family went on vacation so I decided to redo everything...secretly. Oh boy. They get back on Sunday, and I've got SO much work to do. This might turn out to be a bad idea...

Okay, finished Meteor Shower, and though the ending wasn't my favorite, I am actually looking forward to the sequel, most likely because I know they've already gotten that pesky amnesia storyline out of the way, and it can't be anything like the harrowing mess that was the second season of meteor garden.
Looking for a new drama- K, J or C. Any recommendations?
@ Javabeans: still trying- Don't Ask me About the Past. Recommend it. That's all. :)

Happy Friday Open Threaders! I'm digging the song today!
@Javabeans: Thank you so much for hooking me up with the BumsSo blog. I started out just helping the other writers by adding screen caps (and the occasional, sometimes sarcastic) remark. The other day, I did my very first recap on Dream, Ep 8. It took me ALL DAY. Of course, a day spent doing anything Kim Bum related is a good day. :) But I said all that to say this: You are a Kdrama recap goddess! I spent all day on just ONE recap, yet you do several, plus give us lots of other goodies, plus do subtitles...Where do you find the time to do it all? Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for all you do for us!

Back at my college, and I have a chemistry teacher who sprung a book on us last minute, aka when we were walking in the door he was like "you need this book for this class". That book is $109...ugh. He's also trying a bit too hard to be Einstein (hair-wise).
I get to go home this weekend for a wedding and my dad's birthday. Plus its labor day weekend so I miss my Monday classes for another week in a row. Yay!
@ladymai: But Meteor Shower is still worth watching right? I'm only on episode 10 and while I like it better than the other HYD incarnations, I can't seem to finish it; Its taking me forever. Anyway, have you seen BOSS already? Its pretty good and there are a few new ones coming out soon.

Happy Friday everyone!
For the first time in over a year... even though I have full internet access, I haven't touched Asian dramas for a full two days. *GASPS* I've instead gotten enamoured with Stargate Atlantis, which I *really* should have started to watch five to seven years ago, when I actually had the time to go through all five seasons. Instead, I'm jumping and skipping my way through episodes, with the help of an episode guide, and only watching the episodes focused on character-development and kick-ass missions. And I watched one of the episodes from fifth season, and found myself hunting down fanfiction. Like, wth? I haven't touched fanfiction for a year or so... ever since I discovered dramas!
I am going to continue to watch Meteor Shower. Even though I've watched the plot done three times so far, I still find this version a breath of fresh air. I'm still terrified of the ending though... reading from the comments above, and the comments on other forums, its not the best ending. Though there is a sequel coming out next year *sighs* Speaking of sequels, the Full House II sequel rumours have been circulating for months now. Is there any actual confirmation on that?
@3 ladymai
I've given up searching for new good J/K/C dramas, for the time-being. I'm instead going through the archives of random LJ communities, searching for old goodies that I might have missed in the past. I *think* I only watched City Hall (LOVE) and Brilliant Legacy (love! despite the overall cliches) this year in the KDrama category. For JDramas, I've watched quite a bit more. I'm waiting a month for Buzzer Beat to finish, since it seems right down my alley. I'm so excited for that!

Happy OT Friday y'all! Three-day weekend ahead in the US, I'm so excited. I'm planning to get all the mundane housework stuff out of the way today so I can just veg for the next 3 days straight (hopefully).
I'm still watching only current shows at the moment: Tamra, Dream, Hon, and My Fair Lady. I love Tamra (oh, Im Joo-hwan, so tall and lovely), Dream is still watchable (Kim Bum, my little baby), Hon is really good and really creepy in the best way, and My Fair Lady is growing on me by leaps and bounds. Yoon Eun-hye...I swear, the girl is like crack. The more I see her the more I want to see her. Jung Il-woo...well, get out the steak sauce because I'm about to eat some bad-tasting words I spoke a few weeks ago. I believe I said something crazy like "I just don't think he's that cute" or words to that effect. Whatever I said, I was completely insane at the time. Return of Iljimae...here I come, sweetheart! Sorry it took me so long!
Two dramas recently added to the DramaFever lineup look pretty good, Outrageous Women and Rebirth. Anyone care to give me their take on either of these?
Next on my to-watch list? Smile and Iris!

Meteor Shower 2 was horrible.
For those watching Sons of Sol Pharmacy:
Does anyone know the title of the song in Episode 31 where Dae Poong is searching for Bok Shil during the day (not the last song where it's raining)?
Thanks!

Hello everyone! It's almost Saturday at my place....
I experienced 7.6 richter scale earthquake last Wednesday, and it was quite scary. I was at my office, 9th floor ( fortunately ), and the quake lasted for about 15 mins.
I wasn't panic - I surprised myself - maybe because it wasn't my first experience having earthquake in highrise building. My first was at my apartment and it was almost midnight, so it was more scary.
I'm currently watching Queen of Housewives, and planning to start My Fair Lady.
As usual, Javabeans' recap really tempted me!
Wild Bunny will end next week :(
Anyone here is watching TVB dramas? Any recommendations?

Haven't been watching Asian dramas for the past 3 weeks but was hungover last weekend at a friends house and the only thing to watch was Pride, a j-drama.
Ended up marathoning it and LOVING it.
So, I am recc'ing Pride to people here. Go watch it.
Am also currently watching Lawyers Of Korea and it remains enjoyable.
See ya'll later.

TGIF! And a three-day weekend to boot! I really need one.
@ langdon813
Lol. You're finally on board the Jung Il Woo train! If you think he's cute in MFL, you ain't seen nothing yet. Get ready to fan yourself over the hotnss in ROI. Come on, kickass fighting, deep emoting, and oozing masculinity (with a tinge of feminine beauty that actually doesn't make him effeminate).
Next-Rebirth is like a collection of mini-dramas (different past lives ) and is great during the Ryu Su Young/Son Ye Jin ones (their chemistry sizzled), but the ones with RYS & Jang Shin Young were actually flat in my opinion.
@ mishane
Ah...missing Lee Sung Jae. He was the highlight of Lawyers of Korea.

I'm glad to say I finished Meteor Shower last week. Boo-yah! I actually liked the ending cause it was rather sweet & makes me more excited about the sequel. I have to say the show is a bit dragged out though [36 EFFING EPISODES!!] & I still prefer BOF. BOF felt more intense & humorous & the relationship between everybody [F4, Jandi+Junpyo, Jandi+Jihoo, SoEul, etc] were more detailed & funner to watch. Plus, the H4 is hid-e-ousss!
So, schools starting for me next week.. lol. I'm worried it might interfere with my drama watching. Now, off to review some french!

Whoa - OT#100!!!! That is worth some kind of celebration!! How about we all watch one Dramabeans recommended drama for next Friday and we can only talk about that one drama?
@ Meh - I am on drama hiatus until Iris comes out because I've been burnt out with some bad, lame, and mediocre dramas. I want to be excited for Iris. I think I couldn't really fall in love with 'City Hall' because I was just too burnt out. I'll retry it again after my hiatus. The sad thing is - there is no drama even tempting me to break my hiatus.
Instead, I'm focusing on watching kvariety shows. I would love a website like DramaFever to just focus on the Kvariety shows! I crack up over Xman, Infinity Challenge, & Family Outing. My new addiction is 1N2D!!! Just heard about DreamTeam and trying to find eng sub episodes - so frustrating!!!
My biggest problem is that there aren't enough subbers for variety shows and I can only find the ones that have an idol with massive fansubbers. Sigh...if you guys can recommend options to finding these, I'd appreciate it!

@9 Sari - yeah i read in popseoul that binnie an hye-gyo were together.. and aren't they just adorable? if you've watched world's within its kinda not surprising seeing as they kissed in just about every freaking episode! but i'm not complaining coz beautiful people belong together... lol i don't know why but they just make me giddy.. hehe
Ahh I'm on mid-semester break now and yesterday i caught up with my asian studies lecturer and lets just say I'm pretty much screwed for this paper coz i haven't done any of the work... instead I delve into Asian Dramas... how flippin ironic....
Ooh Open Thread's Golden jubilee next week! I'll drink to that!

So I got my birthday card created by one of my co-workers. Days before she made it, she asked for a list of my fave asian male actors. It turned out really awesome, but out of the 7 images of the guys she placed, she only got 2 right -- Gong Yoo and Matsumoto Jun. It also had Joo Ji Hoon, So Ji Sub, Cha Seung Won, Lee Seo Jin, and Kim Hyung Joon. The card was passed around for people to sign, one message said "the guy on the back of this card is a little questionable..." that guy is Kim Hyung Joon, lol!
Geez, I had to explain to them that 5 of those photos are wrong, especially the guy on the back! Most of my co-workers liked So Ji Sub, but I think it's because he was looking down.
But I'm happy and I appreciate my co-worker's effort. The card is now hanging on my panel board, Gong Yoo's page, of course. :)

I think a Labor Day Weekend marathon of ROI is definitely in order; plus, I know all of JB's recaps are finished now too, which makes it even more appealing.
I'm going in the wrong direction because the guys I'm watching keep getting younger and younger! I just need to keep repeating this mantra: Cha Seung-won, Lee Jung-jae, Jung Woo-sung, Yoon Kye-sang, Yoon Sang-hyun, Lee Byung-hun...there. I feel MUCH better now.
Still planning on being with JIW all weekend, though. ;-)

happy friday! man im gettin a late start today. work swamped me from the second i walked in. it's friday before labor day weekend too!! i fully believe we should get a half day in celebration of that. we're having a rock band competition at work today tho..one of the group's names is 'donuts in the breakroom' and they brought donuts.. totally just bought my vote. i am easily swayed by baked goods apparently haha.
@11 djes - i'm glad you're ok!! must be if you're posting on OT :) 15 min earthquake!! that's just nuts!! i'm in CA and it's totally the earthquake state but 15 min is crazy long!! sigh, in other news, i'm so sad WB ends next week. i totally thought it was at least 10 episodes!! i just finished watching episode 7 and laughed my a$$ off... they play the most ridiculous games and i love them for it!

Just finished watching Black and White. This is certainly the most sophisticatedly produced T-drama. It is intense and well-paced overall with the conspiracy storyline quite intriguing.
Vic Zhou and Mark Chao are both terrific and carrying their title roles successfully. Apart from my previous analogy of the pair to the young Chow Yun Fat and Tony Leung. Mark Chao also reminds me of the young Takeshi - the eyes (before the double eyelid surgery, that is), the cheekbone, and the lip. Kingone Wang gave an unexpectedly good turn as a baddie and there's the vibe of Health Ledger's joker. (He is rather boring in previous good guy roles.) I like the hot dog guy as well. He's got some quirkiness in him that is endearing. It would be a different drama if it was done the way it intended originally, ie a follow up vehicle for F4 after Meteor Garden. Thank goodness, it didn't work out.
The weak points are certainly the female leads. The love triangle between the two male leads and the female lead is an opportunity missed. The circumstances and ambiquious relationships among them have all the potential of a very dynamic and dramatic triangle but there are simply no sparks to light up the fire. That actress is in fact not bad but her look and acting are probably more suitable for secondary, rather than lead, roles. In fact, T-dramas tend to have more attractive and charismatic actors than actresses. I find the side plots more interesting, eg the subtle concern and care between Vic's character and the forensic officer, and the hot dog guy's unrequited love.
The supporting cast is great as well as their storylines which all enrich the drama. The PA guy in Fated to Love You is very eye-catching here as the 2IC of the 'mafia', and so are those in the Police Station and the Mercenary Army.
Never thought Kaohsiung could look that cool. Will have to spot those cool places when next going there.
Taiwanese should be proud of this drama - very well-made and highly watchable. Look forward to seeing the movie sequel!

hehe within the first 20-odd (well at time of writing this post that is....) Can't quite believe i am posting this while everything is a (literal) blur! ...ah the addictiveness of the OT and this blog!! :)
Re: the upcoming OT #100
we really have to celebrate the 100th OT! What should we do? Everyone have a nice cup of coffee (and a cupcake) to toast and salute Javabeans perhaps?
Definition of crazy.....with a sky high mountain of kdramas waiting to be watched, picking up 6 more. Yes 1 is silly - 6 is looney bin. WTF?! @_@ Really need a restraining order against myself! How am i gonna find the time to check this blog, eventually watch 'My Fair Lady' (avoiding the recaps - which am sure they will be awesome) and the upcoming IRIS and get to the little things like life/work/sleep? Anyone know where I can get a cloning machine.? I think I need 2-3 just for my kdramas.
Well happy long weekend for those lucky enough to have one.
(I'm sure I'll be back later in this OT when everything is not a blur...)
