Bae Soo-bin walks for Andre Kim
by javabeans
At this point, there’s really no point in getting excited about another Andre Kim runway show, but his latest one features Bae Soo-bin, whom I know many of you love, so here goes!
The show was held on the evening of September 15 under the title “Starry Night in the Palace.” (I suppose the opulent designs are supposed to evoke royal imagery, but really, it’s not new to this show; we’ve all seen this before.) The show featured, aside from Bae, actress Jang Seo-hee (Wife’s Temptation).
(Really, all I get from an Andre Kim show — aside from more of the same outlandish designs in bright colors — is a display of who’s the hot actor of the moment. Jang Seo-hee had an incredibly successful daily drama in Wife’s Temptation, while Bae Soo-bin experienced a sharp rise in popularity through Brilliant Legacy. He is also set to star in the sorta-sequel to Wife’s Temptation, Angel’s Temptation. I say “sorta” because the it’s not an official sequel, but shares the same writer and a similar makjang revenge plot.)

ehheh the hoodie thing seems new (for andre)...haven't seen that in AK designs before ^^...it's kinda cool. Overall though, he's gotta be one designer whose style never changes :\

O M G !!!!
When I saw the first picture I laughed. Soo Bin looks kinda short and ready for the costume party.
I am not familiar with Andre Kim's designs and look. Do they sell or are they just for show?

Jang So Hee is really beautiful....she looks way younger than her real age.
I envy her sooo much!
No comment for the costumes, but I really curious why Andre Kim is so popular? ( other than famous for his 'extra ordinary' designs ? )

The puffy quilted hoodie is interesting.
I like Andre Kim - his brand of hyper-glam reality is so far removed from my own, that even if he does the same show every 5-6 months, I don't mind.
Jang Seo-Hee doesn't look the best she has looked, but she looked pretty stunning in Temptation of Wife (as addictive of a daily drama as you'll find), after her ToW character transforms from the naive and powerless Goo Eun Jae and starts kicking butt as foxy hottie temptress Min So-Hee. There aren't enough adjectives in the English language, good and bad, to describe ToW as a drama, but one of the reasons I watched it initially before becoming like a crack-addict over the drama was because of Jang Seo-Hee. I like her a lot.
Anyhoo, I like AK's Jang Nara / Kim Joon show the best so far.

I think AK would be considered to have been avant garde at one point, but now I think that's just his style - to combine elements of near-future fantasy and demi-cosplay with beautiful young people, with beautiful bold colors. The females always end up looking like elvish sprites. =)
It may be that some find AK a bit tired, a bit trite (repetitive), and maybe a little bit ridiculous, but for me, not knowing much (or anything) about fashion, I kind of like that visual style - not to wear for myself, but to spur my imagination.

I don't mind watching the same costumes in slightly different iterations and combinations, but why does Andre school his models to always adopt the same facial expression and pose. See Kim Joon's pinchy glower v. Bae Soo Bin's exact same facial expressions. Coupled with the exact same struts and poses at the end of the runway, then it really does become repetitive and almost farcical in its dedication to repeat the exact same runway show year after year.
I think Andre needs to allow his it-guy and it-girl to bring their natural acting style and talents to the runway show. Or else he might as well use actual models. Imagine BSB with his sweet joyful grin and JSH with her wide-eyed gaze on the runway. Just my 2 cents on how to spice up and differentiate his runway shows while keeping his designs intact. Ah well, it's the signature of Andre Kim, I'll take it as is.

i'm not sure if people wear it or not..but it's definiyly artistic as samsooki said and i beleive it's called "futurism"..
wouldn't it be great to have a drama about the future with AK designs.. count me in if that's happen one day..
i'm BSB fan.. he looks younger with this hairstyle although i like his before hairstyle..
and for JSH..sorry JSH fans i don't know her and she looks older than him.. or maybe i'm just jealous hahaha

WTH??!! Why is this Andre Kim designer still allowed to do the same runways over and over again? Someone should whack him on the back of his plastered head and scream at him for doing the same damn thing every time. Besides his redundant designs & costumes, I get annoyed when his female models always runs off and then returns to the male model and he kisses her on the forehead. Sappy melodrama.
But on a good note, Bae Soo-bin is sooo cute! He has adorable eyes ;)

Wonderfully colourful, never High Street, Andre Kim and his 'Variations on a Theme' - Males, Tzar's in Winter Fantasy. Females, Frou-Frou Asian Exotic.
Totally agree with 'ockoala' as to expression etc. but as said this has also become the 'usual' for Andre Kim's models. Keep wondering if this is an expression of the Court Ball Etiquette of yesteryears to match the 'themes'.

andre kim's designs are all very fantastical in a very over hyped idealistic way. i've also never understood the need for asians to play (and sometimes overplay) into this whole colonialistic lifestyle... that's one thing that drives me CRAZY.

totally agree with mochi's comment! i get annoyed with the "running back to you" scene that happens in every andre kim fashion show. how is it that no one is telling Andre Kim to come up with something different? i can see some of the dresses are different, but the huge emperor clothes (2nd row) look exactly the same as the previous years.

Andre Kim reminds me of the emperor and his new clothes...in that I wonder, doesn't anyone ever tell him the blatantly obvious, or do they all just nod in agreement and praise his creative genius...
Andre: Hm...does brocade peony design on this magenta piece remind you too much of last year's?
Everyone else: Oh no, of course not! That was roses in rasberry sherbert. This one is completely different. You are truly the king of innovation and creativity! *everyone bows humbly*

@16 haha I have to agree
I know lots of people jump to defend Andre Kim. However, none of the other well-known famous fashion houses repeat the same clothes year after year. While they do have their signature "style" they never repeat. Some of the designs there are rediculously close to ones from previous posts. While I understand that he is a genious he needs to apply his ideas in new ways.

i actually think I see something NEW with the fur. But it's still absolutely horrid. It'd be one thing if a designer used the same designs OVER and OVER again, but it's sorta somewhat semi-excusable if they're done well. Andre's designs just god-awful. At best some of them are ok, otherwise it's just a huge hot mess on a runway. I still am dumbfounded as to how A-list stars continue to give him the time of day.

@hjkomo: XD too funny.
i think andre kim's status as korea's designer helps the actors/actresses to gain more publicity. so it's not so much andre kim per se, but more of the actors & actresses.
agency: "oh, you've been andre kim's model before?"
actor a: "yes"
agency: "oh, you must have been very good. here, a contract."
but i could be wrong. either way. it's so andre kim like that i already stopped gawking.

bae soo bin is one of my favorite K actors since BL...he's cute/handsome and a great actor. His movie Crying in the Glow of Sunset or something like that was really good and his acting was superb! i'll surely anticipate him to be officially cast in Wife's Temptation! Some of the wardrobe here is quite .... never mind but i love him wearing the contemporary outfit except for the heavy looking wardrobe! he's such a hottie!
thnx for sharing javabeans
