Lee Young-ae marries quietly
by javabeans
Wow, this is a surprise. One of Korea’s premier actresses, Dae Jang Geum and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance‘s Lee Young-ae, got married in a quiet ceremony in the States on August 24, attended only by a small group of family and very close friends. The announcement was made on the 25th through Lee’s legal rep.
The lucky man is a Korean-American businessman working in the IT industry identified only as Mr. Jung, who attended university in Illinois. The reason given for holding the ceremony in the U.S. is because the groom’s family and friends live there. Lee Young-ae did not divulge further details, concerned for the private life of him and his family.
The bride intends to live her married life in the U.S., although she stated the intention to continue acting and return to Korea for filming if a good project were to come her way.
Lee Young-ae said, “I truly thank all the fans who have supported me and given me love through the years, as well as those in the entertainment industry. In a short while, I will pay you my formal respects.”

Most Korean-American men I've seen (on TV and in my office) are hot! She deserves it though because she's impossibly pretty. Congrats Jang Geum!!

Interesting, considering that it seems a decent no. of Korean actresses are involved w/ Korean-Americans or have established other roots in the US (such as purchasing an apartment).
Makes sense tho for those who want to live a life w/ some normality (esp, if they are planning to have children).

It appears that Lee Young-ae's new hubbie (or should I say, Jung Young-ae?) is quite a bit older (55 years old) which would make for an age difference of 17 yrs or so.

@ bd. Yup, looks like the Korean netizens are already onto that. There's another rumor that this is the SAME GUY who almost married Shim Eun Ha years ago. (and broke up due to fishiness of fluctuating age, lies, weird connections to weapons lobbying etc etc.)
At first it seemed like, aw, really cool Young Ae- ssi. Now it looks a bit odd.

@ 29 Tha -- "@23 paula253 What?!?!? Is that so….where did you get that info?!?!?!?"
sorry -- it was a joke. In "Man Who Can't Marry," Ji Jin-Hee's character marries Uhm Jung-hwa's character. *** nothing between them in real life *** hehe
I see on Drama Wiki that, in real life, JJH married his long-time gf, Lee Su-yon, in 2004. but of course, Bella Mafia, he can still be yours. enjoy!!

o wow.... she (or more to the point dae jang geum) started my obsession with kdramas... I first watched the shown on cable (azn tv) and then continued watcing all kinds of asian dramas there after!! Good for her (I guess).. maybe I'll see her here in the U.S... at least I hope she doesn't stop with the dramas like other married stars have in the past..

Am I the only one that can see her trying to break into American Entertainment?
I mean, I bet she is going to become a citizen of the United States (because she is married and living in the United States) Her English is going to be much better then most because of spending time just living in the United States and able to practice and loose her accent.
To act in a movie/drama in Korea will make her stay away from her Hubbie for months at a time (because more than likely he can't just leave his job) especially if she has children. If she really loves acting but cannot leave her family for such a long period of time, I really can see her taking small parts in American films.
I love her as an actress and would totally go see whatever movie or drama (american or korean) she is in. I wish her good luck and happiness.

Well, if it's true that they've known each other for that long and have been dating quietly, then it's quite a cute love story. I must say it's quite a feat for any Hallyu stars to keep romances quiet for too long with the netizens keeping tabs on them 24/7. I wish her the best.

I congratulate her, but she dissapointed me so much.
She is my dad's cousin, and thus she was like an aunt figure to me. She and my dad were very close when they were young. When we heard about her secret marriage just a few miles away from us (I live in NJ) I was so shocked but not as shocked as my dad. He felt so betrayed that she would just forget him like that when she knew that he lived in the states too. I respect her as an actress, but my respect for her as my aunt is totally gone. I guess its just easy to remember those that loved and cared for you when you're in show business.. Congrats to her though.
