Lee Yo-won doubles her filming workload

Actress Lee Yo-won‘s schedule has just kicked into double-time as she adds a project to her schedule, even though she is currently busy acting in the hit MBC sageuk Queen Seon-deok as its title character.

Filming on the movie Bean Paste [된장] began this week (August 11), which comes after a delay to accommodate Lee Yo-won’s filming for Seon-deok. Not that she was the only busy one; her co-star Lee Dong-wook also just wrapped up his drama series Partner.

The film is described as a mysterious melodrama about a condemned criminal who wishes to eat bean paste stew (doenjang jjigae) one last time before he dies. A reporter, played by Ryu Seung-ryong (Level 7 Civil Servant), grows suspicious about the man’s case and delves deeper to find some surprising truths. Lee Yo-won plays a woman who makes an especially delicious deonjang jjigae, which is so good it evokes an emotional response in all who eat it. Lee Dong-wook plays her love interest.

Bean Paste is filming in the southern province of Jeollanam-do, which means that the film production had to work out an agreement with the drama production of Seon-deok to share their lead actress. Lee Yo-won will continue to shoot the drama on weekends while she films the movie.

I really enjoyed LDW in Partner. He has amazing chemistry with the lovely luminous KHJ. KSA used to be my fav but I have now moved on to KHJ. She doesn't do Cutesy. I have had it with Cutesy.
That must be an old picture of LDW. He doesn't have the baby cheeks anymore. He's become quite soulfu looking.

Enjoyed LDW tremendously in partner. Was so spell bounded by the amazing chemistry of the lead couple..It feels so strange sometimes words are not needed to feel the bond between two people..It is simply undertood and felt...

Yay! Lee Dong Wook!!! I loved LOVED LDW in Partner (he's totally mine!) He and the chemistry he had w/KHJ is what made Partner so enjoyable. Excited that there will be a LDW movie so soon after Partner!

I love doenjang jjigae. LYW looks so sweet in this picture. Hope she doesn't burn herself out running between the two projects.

Haven't seen LDW in anything lately except for bits and pieces of Bittersweet Life.

Looking forward to this.

The movie sounds like it should be something like Chocolat or Waitress, no? But I still look forward to see what it has to offer, since it has Lee Dong-wook :-D

whut? Lee Dong Wook and and Lee Yo Won? I can't see their pairing! hahhaaa.
I mean Lee Yo Won seems more...what to say, mature? ( not old ) and Lee Dong Wook even though now indeed looks hotter than his days in My Girl ( too cute ), still has the baby's face.
Sounds interesting though, the story.

I'm in my post partner depression so this is good news. :) But everybody on the soompi board is hoping so hard that there's a season 2 for partner that this might be terrible news. xD
hmm i can't see the pairing as of yet, like djes said, but that's most probably because i've been watching LDW + KHJ obsessively for the last two months. LDW always manages to make the girls shine so you never know - it could work out really well.

2 of the leads from my current fav dramas! Woohoo! So happy that can still catch LDW in a movie before he disappears for 2 years. I'm in post partner depression too - I so wish there are a couple more episodes of sizzling, intense, playful, heart-tugging LDW-KHJ chemistry.

LDW and KHJ had fantastic chemistry in Partner - without even having much skinship, direct dialogue, or cliche romantic lines typical of Kdramas. Haven't been impressed with LYW's protrayal in QSD yet, but maybe she'll surprise me in the movie. May just watch it for LDW, unless the movie production is too sub-par to bear.

I actually gasped when I saw LDW's picture and saw this post. I, like everyone else, am suffering from LDW/Partner withdrawal. hahah Javabeans, I really wish you would continue to recap Partner!

my gosh, what weird pairing!!! again LYW the leading actress with much younger actor??
didnt they make a mistake with Bad Love pairing her with KwongSangWoo ended with poor ratings n critics.
Now LeeDongWook looks even younger maybe by 10 years in appearance. dunno how old she is but she is damn old acting as leading actress unless her co-star is a veteran.
expect another poor n low rating for this drama. cannot stand her acting at all there4 dont wish to watch even if LDW is in because of her there is no tandem.

I'm glad there's something to tide Lee Dong Wook fans over, since everyone's suffering from post-Partner withdrawal. A melo-movie about Bean Paste makes me raise an eyebrow, though, but will probably check it out anyway for LDW, unless LYW's acting is particularly poor or the plot is as wacky as it sounds :D

@ koreanfan
WTH are you talking about? O_o After reading your post, I had to instantly bring up a new window and google for Lee Yo Won's age to see whether she's really that old, and she's... 29. That's one year older than Lee Dong Wook, and 4 years *younger* than Kwon Sang Woo. At the risk of sounding like one of the overly excitable LYW defenders on the Queen Seondeok thread on Soompi (god forbid), I'd have to be fair and say... I agree that she looks older than Lee Dong Wook in certain shots, but it's not that big a deal. If age 29 is too old to act as leading actress, most of the industry is screwed.

@16
Maybe the director thought she suited the role? Also I hear her current drama is going great guns so the more popular the actress more people will go to the theatre to see the film.

Lee Yo Won is a great actress.
I liked her in the drama Bad love even though the drama itself didn't work to me.
But in QSD she is so good especially in episode 24. She was wonderful. Good luck in her next projects.

hahaha, there goes LDW saying before acting in partner that he was sick of older actresses (never fear guys, it was a joke). i will watch it for him. his acting was incredible in his latest drama, and it's getting better every time soooo yeah. i love how everybody else is in post partner depression as well ... PPD sounds like a legitimite disorder to me. ;D

sincerely, i think the production company should have cast another leading lady instead of waiting for Lee Yo Won. in all honesty, LYW needs to focus on bettering her protrayal of Deok Man in QSD. her acting is still weak. if she does another project while filming the drama, her concentration on her protrayal might get sloppy. i don't like it when actors/actresses take on projects at the same time. it is better to focus all your energy and attention into your acting, so you can give your character justice. after you are done with one thing, you can do another thing. why bother cramming everything into one? you are going to exhaust yourself.
