Singles director back with Loveholic
by javabeans
Kim Heung-soo, Jung Chan
The director of movies Singles and I Like It Hot, Kwon Chil-in, is back for another movie titled Loveholic [러브홀릭]. (Speaking of which, can we have a moratorium on things called “Loveholic” now?)
The movie focuses on a “normal married couple” and features four main leads (two men and two women) with their intertwining love- and storylines. Cast as the lead is one of Kwon’s actors from I Like It Hot, Kim Heung-soo, also of dramas like Life: Special Investigation and Radish Kimchi. He’s half of the married couple and his character is described as “quiet but masculine.”
Meanwhile, throwing a wrench into the mix is his friend, played by Jung Chan (Lovers), a plastic surgeon who can’t help himself from falling in love with his friend’s wife, played by Chu Ja-hyun (Portrait of a Beauty). Han Soo-yeon (Doremifasolatido) rounds out the quartet. Jung has taken some time off to recover from an ankle injury, and is now getting back to work.
I can’t say the plot interests me much, but I do like the actors. Jung Chan’s was the only character I liked in Lovers — I hated Lee Seo-jin’s wishy-washy cheating gangster, and hated Kim Jung-eun’s mopiness, but loved! Jung Chan’s confidence and charisma. I even watched Auction House for him (although I couldn’t finish it, too boring). I should really watch more of his work.
Loveholic began shooting on July 20 and will wrap up production by September; it plans to release in December.

i noticed that with kdramas, they seem to use same title like loveholic, they had this drama a few yrs ago if i'm not mistaken right? then the new drama lady castle has been changed to my fair lady, and the latter already was used in a drama with Go Soo and Kim ha seon? they shld have just stick to lady castle for a change! in other words if in the future you look for a background info on either dramas you'll get two unless you tag a year or something to that effect? are the producers running out of titles? maybe fans can help in the future? just thinking!

yes, the gangster got really cheesy by the end of Lovers. Even the way he confessed his feelings for her made me cringe. She(her character) started off very likeable but she got really pathetic in the end. Couldn't finish the drama. I liked the writer's other work a lot.....On air and Lovers in Prague. City hall started off with a bang and the leads are so charismatic especially the guy but Ep 8 was a disaster. The cool unflappable guy suddenly turned up with a bunch of flowers and "I missed you" Completely out of character. Too abrupt. He's too cool to be going sappy even if he's feeling something. Looks like he will end up like the sappy gangster. I

haha, and I actually liked Auction House.. honestly I can't really remember it, which I guess shows that maybe I didn't like it as much as I though? I just remember being excited that there was a drama out about art.. hehe

I agree that "Singles" was a well done romantic comedy (a fun film overall).

JB - I like Jung Chan too! He is charismatic and scene stealing. Can't remember much of him from Lovers and I'm no fan of that drama anyway. Recently, he has a cameo in one episode of Family Honour as Park Shi Hoo's sunbae friend. You know what, in the scenes they are together, he immediately reduces PSH to a kindegarten kid - acting-wise and screen presence-wise.
He deserves more meaty and substantial role!

Are you not liked the story, the cast, the wadrobe (that CSW weas) or else,so stop paying attention to CH,find another kdrama that suits to your 'perfect taste'kdrama.Bcoz its really weird or no sense that billion people put the kudos for this kdrama while you put negative comments.Just suggestion!
