Lee Dong-wook returns in Partner
by javabeans
How to choose? Lee Dong-wook versus the trio of Yoon Kye-sang, Lee Jung-jae, and Lee Seon-kyun? Wednesdays and Thursdays just got a lot more interesting with KBS’s new law drama Partner squaring off against Triple. (Magazine whut-now?)
Partner announced its leading lady earlier this week with Kim Hyun-joo, and now have cast Lee Dong-wook opposite her. She’s the newbie who got a relatively late career start, who’s described as a common ajumma lawyer. He’s the snobby, sardonic lawyer partnered with Kim. The two clash in everything as they work together, with her believing that their role is to speak for wronged people while his is to treat people merely as business clients. (It’s something of a classic — clichéd? — setup, but hey! It’s Kim Hyun-joo and Lee Dong-wook, and I’m expecting good things here.)
I think Lee Dong-wook has really proven himself as an actor in recent years, and I’m eager to catch him in another drama. I know a lot of people liked La Dolce Vita, but it left me feeling rather cold, so the last time I saw him was in the 2007 comedy movie Perfect Couple with Hyun Young. He was also in 2008’s Heartbreak Library with Eugene and the horror-thriller Arang in 2006 after hitting it big in the 2005 trendy drama My Girl.
Partner premieres on June 24.

I really liked Heartbreak Library even though it left me feeling kinda empty and didn't do so well at the cinema. Perfect Couple was cute as well and left me smiling.
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing him though in the future; the set up of this drama, however, seems tired and boring and I'm not really anticipating it.
We'll see. We don't really know until the first (or second) episode.

they make a really pretty couple. yayyyy! and i can't really complain about the cliched setup - it's typical but i never fail to get bored of it if its executed properly.

I thought Lee Dong-wook is currently serving his military duty? Has he finished his 2 years? Might have been mistaken...

Boring set up or not, the casting of Kim Hyun Joo and now Lee Dong Wook has got me pretty excited for this drama. They do make quite the couple! :]

My oh my! Just when i thought I was slowly but surely going through my 'to watch pile' of kdramas! Adding this (along with Triple and Iris) to 'eagerly awaiting' pile now! Have sort of 'forgotten' about Lee Dong-Wook lately - with the distraction of Kang Ji Kwan, Hyun Bin et al who can blame me eh? Loved him in 'My Girl' so will be looking forward to him and Kim Hyun-joo (BOF related LOL)
Totally unrelated but was wondering if anyone can help. Recently watched the movie 'Rough Cut' and was very impressed by So Ji Sub - yes I know that I'm a late comer to his talent. Just completed 'I'm Sorry, I Love You' and now TOTALLY understand why people love/rave about him. Anyone got recommendations for other 'classic' So Ji Sub kdramas? Something on par to 'I'm Sorry I Love You'? Thanks in advance!

Lee Dong Wook!
umm, I'm going to play fangirl and call dibs.
Really though he was great last year in La Dolce Vita. That is one of my all time favorites now.

@Orchid ,
maybe you mean Lee Jin Wook, Choi Jiwoo's boyfriend? He's the one who is serving the army right now.
this year is full of good and promising dramas. Yay for that! :D

The cast is really the selling point isn't it?!
The plot didn't stir me but the two leads call for a double take.

Plot is as cliche as a K-drama can be
But Lee Dong Wook w/ Kim Hyun Joo sounds good
Never seen La Dolce Vita
Is it worth watching??

About bloody time, Lee's really starved us of his presence. Im not so sure about the drama or its plot but since Lee's in I'll be watching. I would have preffered someone else rather than Kim Hyun-joo tho.

thanks for the article javabeans... KHJ alone would have been enough to keep me glued to my computer screen but with the addition of LDW, this drama became more interesting...can't wait to see it

The plot doesn't appeal to me, but I will definitely check out the drama since I like both LDW and KHJ. I haven't seen anything w/LDW since My Girl, though I'm planning on watching Heartbreak Library sometime soon.
@bspanda
I haven't seen What Happened in Bali, but I've heard good things, especially about So Ji-sub's acting. I would recommend to stay away (far away) from Thousand Years of Love. I tried watching it, mostly because So Ji-sub's one of my fav actors and pretty much fast forwarded through the whole thing b/c the plot was full of loopholes (and kind of ridiculous) and his co-stars were not so great, imho.

oooh, a new drama with Lee Dong Wook. I haven't watched anything with him since My Girl. and him with Kim Hyun-joo is an excellent combination...no matter how cliche the plot is. though, if i had to choose, i'm still looking forward to Triple.
by the way, is Partner a romantic comedy, a drama, a mix of the two? does anyone know?
this summer looks like it's going to be filled with fun dramas. I'm glad cause the only drama i'm watching right now is My Too Perfect Sons.

@soysauce, dunno about others. But I totally don't like La Dolce Vita. It's so darn slow and draggy, and a bit confusing. The only thing that got me through the drama... the female lead's short hair cut (she looked beautiful with short hair)... keekekekekekee.... other than that.. meh....

This is good news. I really think that Lee Dong-wook is a talented actor. However, I'm eagerly anticipating Lee Yoon Jung's work in Triple. After BOF I haven't had the appetite to watch other K-dramas but now I'm getting excited about these two shows.

YYYAAAAYYY Wookie coming back to drama!
He's been one of my fav since My Girl. ^^
I did catch bits of La Dolce Vita and was impressed by his massive improvement in there..
Right now, the drama's already on my MUST WATCH LIST! Cliche as it might sound, but wth, I'd love some angst-y and feisty arguments between the pair.
I'm still onboard Triple because of Lee Jung Jae... but it will be hard to choose definitely!! >.<
