Honey Lee added to Partner
by javabeans
I know, Partner hasn’t even started and you’re already sick of it! I swear, this’ll be my last post on this drama for a while.
Still, I was pleased to see that Honey Lee is the latest addition to the legal drama (I really like her, even though I’ve never seen her act before; it’s just one of those aura things). She’s cast as a femme fatale attorney, which is a bit of a departure from her pretty, smiley image. I suppose she’ll fit right in with the coolly competent lawyers played by Choi Chul-ho and Lee Dong-wook; it’ll be interesting seeing her portray a hard, strong character against Kim Hyun-joo‘s nice one.
This is not Honey Lee’s acting debut — she’s done musical theater before — nor is it her first television job (she has been host of SBS’s entertainment program “생방송 TV 연예”). However, this will be her first onscreen acting role.

Hmm, interesting. And I mean that in a cool and collected understatement of the month kind of way.
I guess they are going to the PR mattresses for this one, against Triple. Lee Dong Wook... Kim Hyun-joo... Honey Lee and Choi Chul-ho... no shortage of good-looking-ness in this one.
I wonder about the story though. A good story will trump good-looking-ness. But good-looking-ness and a good story = must-see tv. Here's to hoping that they spend time and effort to craft a good story.

Nothing against her, but am i the only one that's annoyed by her English name?
It's like some of those TVB celebrities that have strange English names like Power or Emotion...

I think Lee Dong Wook sealed it for me, not so sure about Honey Lee, acting debuts don't tend to go too well anyway.
I heard Tearliner is doing Triple's OST, I think in that department Partner will lose big time.

@ Jessica, "Honey" is the english way of saying/spelling her korean name which is Ha nui 하늬. I don't find it strange at all. Samsooki, I don't know about you but Partner's casting seems far more than just a bunch of "good looking actors." Lee Dong Wook and Kim Hyun Joo are both extremely talented.

@8 JiHwan -
No doubt. Lee Dong Wook was pretty solid in My Girl, and while I have not seen In Soon Is Pretty (인순이는 예쁘다), one of our family friends recommends it quite a bit and is a fan of Kim Hyun Joo.
My point wasn't that they aren't talented, but talent / eye-candy aside, it is the story that drives my interest. I am assuming talent and adequate performance.
I find that, for me anyway, the story is what matters. For example, people can have different opinions of whether Sung Yuri did a good enough job against Kang Ji Hwan in Hong Gil Dong, but through 8 episodes or so, I am absolutely enthralled because the story lines are so good - the drama moves at a good clip and it is interesting, fun and totally plot-driven. Sung Yuri might not win any acting awards, but she hasn't deep-sixed the drama, and so I am totally hooked. I guess you could argue that it is Kang Ji Hwan that made Hong Gil Dong as addictive as it is, and maybe that is correct, but if the story lines made no sense or were just stupid, then I doubt I would be watching regardless of KJW or SY.

Okay NOW Partner's starting to look interesting. I like Honey Lee as well, and I also think she is the most stunning Asian woman I have ever seen.

I remember Honey Lee from Miss Universe. I think she got pretty close to winning. She was in the top 10! She is absolutely beautiful! What a great looking cast indeed!

@CeCee - She should of won, she had the highest scores in the swimsuit and night gown compitions. She just messed up during the interview section of the show. I blame it on her English translator.

She is strangely alluring though her look isn't my cup of tea. Not offbeat looking enough and way too happy.
I agree LDW and CCH both have talent. For me I need three things 1) good to great storyline 2) good to great acting 3) good chemistry
This trinity is hard to find anywhere.

Every time I see "hard, strong (female) character", I read "b-tch". Lol
I haven't seen one that didn't come out like one. Maybe because they're not that good of an actress to pull it off, or that's how all "hard, strong character" acts like. I dunno.

It's funny reading all the different types of lawyers! The naive, the business one, the femme, the never-lost one.... XD
Why can't there just be a "lawyer" XD They all have a special attribute or character about them ^^
I've never seen Honey Lee act either...... but.... I dont mind ^^
I know... I'm again Son Dam Bi who I've never seen act, yet I've never seen Honey Lee act either, and I'm all happy >.<

Hmm Partner is sounding better and better... I don't really know Honey Lee other than the fact that she represented Korea in the Miss Universe(?) Pageant because I watched it with my mom... Haha.

Wah, interesting.
Maybe I will watch Partners instead of Triple. No more Kang Ji Hwan, and I don't really interested to the story anyway.
But law themed ( and medical ) dramas always get my attention..
Honey Lee is really beautiful! And she looks so nice you can't hate her! *jealous*

Wow.
At the risk of sounding shallow (and I am, so it doesn't really matter), but this drama has just gone from "meh-not-really-interested" to "MUST-SEE TV!". Honey Lee is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen and JB has already proven several times that she is a lot more than just a pretty face.
As for her name, I don't really see anything wrong with it. Like what JiHwan said, it's just an anglicized version of her Korean name. I think it sounds apt, and suits her personality well - She's so sweet!
The problem for me now is that there's gonna be eye-candy overload over the next few months with Honey Lee in this drama, Kim So Eun in 'Man Who Can't Get Married", Sung Yuri in 'Swallow the Sun' and Luxury Nose in 'Triple'.
otohge....otohge.

I saw Honey Lee on Ms. Universe competition in 2007. She's very beautiful (dimples!!). I teased my sister how she looked good with Joo Jin Mo (since my sister was crazy about that actor). I thought it's a matter of time till she is starting her acting debut... and now.. 2 yrs later, she finally made it!

My excitement for this drama just keeps keeps going up and up and UP!
I love Honey Lee! I think she's extremely talented, and very very smart too -- I have a feeling she'll suit her hardline, no-nonsense female attorney character quite well.

i agree with kobe. this drama has turned from "meh" to "MUST-WATCH"...and I already have 7 dramas on the watching list. O.O
But I LOVE kim hyun-joo, thought she was cute in Marrying a millionaire, didn't watch miss kim, brilliant in insoon (though the story in the middle dragged so much but the ending was quite nice), and BEAUTIFUL in BOF.
i'm interested to see honey lee act. i've heard so much about her, it's time to know her.
