Production forces overworked Jung Il-woo to rest
by javabeans
Aie, it is as I feared. Jung Il-woo has temporarily suspended filming for his role heading the new MBC drama The Return of Iljimae due to health issues. Filming halted on the 23rd, and production aims to resume after Christmas.
It did seem as though Jung was pushing himself too hard given accounts of concerned staff and management. Recently, he had been suffering from a severe flu, the effects of which intensified with overwork. The producers had told Jung to rest, but Jung merely took Ringer’s solution injections (which appears to be similar to an IV drip) and continued working.
A production rep explained Jung’s commitment to his role, saying, “Jung Il-woo has expressed his desire to show a different side to himself through The Return of Iljimae. He pushes himself to rehearse even on days he doesn’t shoot, and he hasn’t been looking after his body, focusing solely on the drama. On the 23rd, he had difficulty even standing up and it was obvious his condition was not good, so we shut down filming and told him to go home.”
The drama is estimated to be 60% completed with filming. Despite the brief shut-down of production, Jung’s condition shouldn’t affect the drama’s start date, which will be mid-January.
You know you’ve pushed yourself too far when the production is the one telling its lead actor to take it easy. We know you’ve got a lot to prove with your first serious leading role, but take care of yourself, dude.

i'm glad the production crew is telling him to rest instead of trying to take unfair advantage of his willingness to work. he won't be doing anyone any favors if he falls dangerously ill. better to rest up and work harder when he's all better. I guess since this is his first HUGE role, he wants it to be perfect. This could be the one hit that launches him into total stardom.
he is looking hotter and hotter. reminds me a bit of Hu Ge, a chinese actor who has done a bunch of historicals.

He's hot, i love him to bits in Unstoppable highkick and i know i'll love him more in the future. But ilwoo, you have to take care of yourself!!
But for sure, this drama will be compared to Lee Junki's iljimae and that of course brings lots of stress to him.
He should take it easy.....
Sadly, this is a sageuk drama if not it might be much more easier for me to watch this. I just have a disconnection towards Sageuk.

you know what, I'm really looking forward to this drama... I hope it will be better than the SBS's Ilijimae (and that doesn't mean I didn't like it... but I always wish they do better in this version).

He's acting well, work so hard. But the newest version of Iljimae from MBC is so close of date to the Iljimae of SBS, which was so successful. there's must be some pressure
