Open Thread #24
by javabeans
I actually came upon this link from Boing Boing, but check out this woman’s site. Going by the moniker ‘komusin’ (or gomushin, aka old-fashioned rubber shoes), the artist takes everyday photos and adds her own quirky illustrations. They’re adorable: http://komusin.pe.kr (photos are posted, message-board style, under the third tab on the top).
You’ve really got to be creative to see such diverse things into ordinary, simple images, like in this first one — the speech bubble reads: “I’m sorry… I was wrong…”
The dialogue in this one titled “Diet” starts with the first pepper saying, “Idiot! If you keep going, you’ll starve to death! Just eat!” The second pepper: “No… I still have to lose 3 kg…”

oh, those are very cute. i like her drawing style. i'm assuming she's combining her love for photos and drawings. now, if only my korean were any better.
thank you for sharing the translations, javabeans. you're right, you have to be really imaginative to be able to see the comic humor in mundane things. who was it that said that imagination is a lot more important than we thought... something along those lines. could einstein have said something to that effect?

Awesome. As a graphic designer, I love the combination of drawing items + photos AND the website is so awesome with its simplicity and ease on the eyes. Now I wanna study Korean :P

emma, thanks! soompi.com is the repository for all things kpop- and kdrama-related. check under the kdramas forum and find the on air thread -- the first post usually has all the info you're looking for.
and yeah, it's ridiculous -- japan makes cute things cuter, while korea makes ugly things cute. like poop. (i do not get the cultural obsession with poop.)

Hey now don't hate on poop. Poop with circle lenses and eyelashes? Mr. Hankey would totally hit it! Ya feel? :D
Roses through concrete is how I see Seoul. If it looks good, then maybe the life will be good too.

I was wondering if you're going to recap the series Why Did You Come To My House?
I know it wasn't the best first two eps....but it might get better.......(>...<) Cute pix, I have a couple of the same type of photos.

Roses really smell like boo-boo!!! :D Since this thread is open, this is what I'm feeling . . .
1) Totally feeling the new Hikki tune "Prisoner of Love." The new Last Friends drama is something that I hope K-drama tries one day. (No pervert)
2) Totally feeling the new Ejiah / So Ji Sub "Romeo and Juliet" jean campaign
