Wow, it’s the last weekend before Christmas already? I’m so not the holiday-festivities type. Do you guys “do” the holidays or is it just another day off from school/work for you?
My friend asked today if my family did Christmas trees and gave me an unintentional pitying look when I said I hadn’t had one in at least a decade. Little did she know *I* was giving her a pitying look in return, my inside voice saying, “Honey, YOU’RE the one who just paid good money to cut down a thorny-bristled stump, dragged the log home, set up the constantly shedding tree to proudly display in the middle of your living space, decorated it with fire hazards, only to take it down at the end of the week, leaving behind a mound of pine needles and sap and a lingering medicinal smell in your apartment, and you feel sorry for ME?”
Like I said, not really keen on the holidays. It’s not out of dislike, just laziness. Bah humbug.
SONG OF THE DAY
Wham – “Last Christmas.” OMG I love Wham. They’re so unbelievably cheesy. Unironically, unabashedly, in-your-face cheesy. They remind me of my childhood; I used to get hooked on this song every year when inevitably the radio waves blasted a full month of bland — and yet aggravating — forced Christmas jolliness, and this was the only song whose infectious cheer didn’t want to make me go rampaging to inflict damage upon a faux-winter landscape of gaudy decorations. I don’t listen to the radio anymore but I bet they’re playing this song on an unending loop somewhere. Sometimes I bust this sucker out in the middle of summer just because I can. [ zShare download ]

Firstly, 'Last Christmas' is the all time fav, it evokes so much memories for me, school dances, shoulder pads...very 'Music & Lyrics' (Have you seen this Hugh Grant movie? It's a hoot). 2ndly, I am sorry you feel this way about Christmas. I just want you to know that a fan of yours is thinking about you during this holiday...all the way in sunny/rainy Singapore. Thanks for entertaining me this whole year, especially with Coffee Prince ;). Have a blessed year ahead Dramabeans! Take care! Keep warm!

Haha..lazy humbug you are Beans..
My housemates and I actually bought a REAL tree to celebrate the festive season (yeah despite numerous attempts of persuading them to get a fake one cos it's cheaper...hehehe..). We were so into the mood..well cos partly all of em' except me, aren't Christians and they looked forward to decorating..I've been doing it for the past 10 or 15 years? Do I get tired of it? Yeah...but still, it's tradition..and it's just kinda like something that you don't do and you will feel empty inside and you will start to itch..hehehe...

as people grow older, they become lazier.. guess that's true..
i used to put up christmas tree (the plastic ones, and the leaves made out of coloured thin paper), and some snow (cotton) to make it look nice... but since the person who puts it up is the person who take it down, i'm just too lazy to put it up anymore..
but christmas is still christmas.. if you want a fun christmas then you have to go out and get yourself involve (not the tree i mean ) ... this year i chose to layback, so can't complain thats its boring for me...

OMG, Wham! Where's George Michael these days anyway?
Christmas song? Does anyone remember Band Aid? I faintly remember seeing this in elementary school and thought that it was the coolest thing. Searched and found on Youtube. Check out Bono and Sting. Their hair, people.

i celebrate christmas. it's my favorite time of the year, but this year i'm very grumpy and "without christmas spirit" (as my mother accused me). we have no tree this year and i'm working the day before and after christmas, a fact that just sucks whatever feeling of christmas cheer i have. but oh dear, i'm typing on a work computer. i might get in trouble.... i wish.
a very merry Christmas to everyone. i should blast wham's "last christmas" through this computer's speakers. that should get me fired.

Wham was so good but if I hear this song in another store I will pull my hair out!
I am not a Christmas-y person either, especially since my mom passed on 12/18. I have a small 4 and a half foot tree that's only decorated now because my cousin who is visiting put it together. He'd better take it down before he goes back to school! haha
The best part of the holidays however is watching Snoopy and the gang dance it out on TV.
Happy Holidays everyone!

I'm glad I am not the only one not into the whole Holiday over-hype. My idea of a great Christmas day is sleeping till noon, staying in my pajamas all day watching cheesy movies, or reading books. Hanging out with the family is okay, as long as I can stay in my pajamas. My biggest peeve is presents, if you get one person a present, then that means everyone should get one....do I look like a Christmas money tree?

Haha. Just like me. I have never had an intention to pull a tree back home, decorate it and pull it down by the end of the week. Too much trouble. But this Christmas, my new suitmate is kind enough to set up a Christmas tree for us (a plastic one, less trouble but still), it's kinda nice and warm when you come home late at night, seeing the tree shining in the living room ^_^.

The older I get, the less it feels like Christmas is coming or real or whatever. I thought that getting a Christmas tree would bring the feeling... I thought Christmas shopping would bring the feeling... I thought wrapping presents would bring the feeling... It just doesn't feel like Christmas! I guess it doesn't help that it's like 65 F out and the windows are open. When you live in Florida and have a season and a half (summer and two-steps-away-from-summer), it's harder to take in the coming of winter holidays haha.

If it weren't for my nieces and nephews, I probably wouldn't even bother with the gift giving thing because I dislike the commercialism of Christmas and try to stay as far away from the crowds as possible. (I do like the boxing day sales though). I've also gotten very lazy over the years and no longer bother with bringing out the mini fake tree because I usually work on Christmas day and it's not a big deal for me. I think it would be different if I had my own family because it can be a time of magic and wonder for the little ones. Anyways, I try to focus on the real spirit of the season and wish everyone a merry christmas and healthy new year.

Oh, "Last Christmas"
That brings back so many memories - similar to yours, javabeans. LOL!
We don't really do anything for Christmas, either, mostly out of laziness, too. Christmas is really for the children, but since we don't have any, all we have to do is send a few presents to the nephews and nieces.
TLC recently aired a show about people and their CRAZY Christmas decorations, though I can't remember what it was called. It was hilarious! I highly recommend watching it for the mock/snark/laugh-factor. There are some really nutty people who take the holidays way too far.
I'll leave you with the first line of the altered lyrics to a song my husband, the scrooge, was singing the other day:
"It's the most (take out Wonderful & replace with..) sh**-y-est time of the year..." :P

Haha, my friends and I were singing Wham's Last Christmas at karaoke yesterday.
We have a fake tree too, the plastic smell is really obvious. It'd be nice to have a real tree at least once for the experience.

I figure everyone else (except you) will have a tree, so I don't need to get one. Instead, I happily pop by with a bottle of wine and enjoy the holiday festivities with others without personally aiding in the (not so) slow destruction of our planet, both by chopping down poor trees or buying fake, plastic trees.
Not to say that I'm the most green person in the world.
Back on topic: I love Wham, too. I should try to dig up my one and only Christmas CD. Which, ironically, was given to me by my Grinch friend.

For me... the best part of Christmas is VACATION!!!! =D Our family doesn't do the whole chirstamas decoration thing.. (though this year my little brother insisted on putting up lights -_-)
Exchanging presents is fun... and so is eating candy canes! (aaahh so many O_O) =]

I do all my Christmas shopping in late October/early November. And, I put up my fake tree ten to five days before Christmas. The truth is, I like getting together with my sisters, parents, and grandmother, for that one day. But, I'm so not interested in putting up lights or dealing with the crowds in the store.
For a time of year that's supposed to be about giving and being kind to your fellow man - well, I find that Christmas tends to bring out the worst in people. So, for the most part I try to avoid it.

I don't think It Started With a Kiss will be something you'll like, Sarah. The humour is almost farcial at times and they take every opportunity with the character's personality to create a funny situation. It gets rather tiring to watch in the end.
Every time I turn on Radiohead, I start feeling so down but I can't stop listening at the same time. I saw the first episode of It Started With a Kiss 2 and I skimmed most of it, I can't stand characters like the main one.
I watched Capital Scandal recently. Kang Ji Hwan

ISWAK 2 is the same ol' Taiwanese formulaic series. Not much to watch unless you're bored.
As for Bad Love, I personally think it's getting better. Not sure about others. :)

Gah, my earlier comment was cut off. I was going to say Kang Ji Hwan was awesome in it and I could totally agree with everything you said about him in a post of yours ages ago.
Will Taiwanese dramas ever escape those formulas? I'm so sick of them.
