Random Song Comparison: DAL JA, AEGISSHI
by javabeans
.
I was listening to the newly released OST for the new show Hello! Miss, which is cute and lively to match the cute and lively show itself. I’m a big fan of music (could you tell?) and drama soundtracks, because I think the songs used in a show do a tremendous job of establishing the atmosphere and reinforcing emotion. Sometimes music is overused or badly applied; but when it’s used well (see: Soulmate, Que Sera Sera), it enhances the experience significantly.

SONG OF THE DAY
KT Tunstall – “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree”
This was played in Hello! Miss‘s Episode 3, briefly. KT Tunstall must be gaining popularity in Korea; Sunday’s episode of Que Sera Sera also included another of her songs, “Suddenly I See.” (Or is she more popular than I think? I always find it weird when someone you know about when they aren’t famous suddenly becomes famous.) This song plays briefly in the scene when Su Ha and Jung Sook start their first day of work. Air – “Cherry Blossom Girl” Also featured in the same H!M episode is French electronica band Air. This song is played in the scene where Myung Sook is getting a massage before she’s informed of Jung Sook being hospitalized. [ zShare download ]

RANDOM COMPARISON OF SONGS
So I happened to hear some similarities in some of the Hello! Miss tracks and the recently wrapped Dal Ja’s Spring. Some measures and sequences seem so similar that I wonder if the same person is responsible for the music on both shows. I suppose I could look it up, but I’m feeling lazy. The similarities don’t at all hinder my enjoyment of the songs, because I like the songs on their own merit either way, but what do you think? Similar? Or does javabeans need more sleep?

there is a lot of simularity in the makeup but still they have their own distinction, is it the same music person for both groups?
Also thanks I figured how to save it as an mp3, thanks!! ^__________^

I agree! A HUGE proportion of the music in my mp3 player is Korean music, and most of that OSTs? I think OSTs have the advantage of the emotional attachment you associate with them after weeks of following the drama, and they're a good way of exposing yourself to more artistes haha

Im a big fan of the Dalja ost as well as this one. I agree, they are sounding the same. I think most likely the person who handles the ost stuff as pointed above can be the same which could result to the similarities... :) also, i think this is kind of songs fit certain dramas? or is it a trend in the current dramas? so maybe they picked something in the same wavelength. im clueless though, how do dl the song into mp3? my IE goes kaput when i try. lol.

@babymarzy, do you right-click and "save as"? The mp3 should dl... Maybe try Firefox or Safari instead of IE? They're much better browsers than IE anyway.

they are quite similar indeed, but i think Dalja's Spring instrumentals are better? or maybe it's just because i SUPER love that drama.
i miss DalJa's Spring too!

OH WOW! I thought I was the only one who thought they were similar...Haha, I thought my obsession with Dal Ja's Spring got to me when I started to watch H!M, I thought the exact same things as you java! I thought I was going crazy or something but I guess I'm not alone and also it could be possible that they're produced by the same people but I wouldn't know, haha I'm sure you could ask one of the soompiers to help you out there and research for you?

if you go take a look at the track listing from Hello! Miss at Yesasia, the track listing mentions Dal Ja's Spring, so there's a high chance from the same music director/composer?

yes, actually the composer for the songs mentioned is Ji Pyung Kwon. that person did most of the background music in hello! miss and a few in dal ja spring. (but i think he/she is the music director of hello!miss)i really like his/her music and I've been trying to find more of his/her work but i didn't really find much. maybe someone there has info to share? thanks! :-)
