Drama viewership ratings for the week of Dec. 16-22, 2019

This drama season is looking to be one of the luckiest we’ve had in a while — ratings have been coming in high and are only getting higher. Of course, there are a few shows that aren’t so lucky, but they’re still hanging in there. Let’s catch up and see how are our favorites (and not-so-favorites) are performing.

At the start of the week, we had two cable network premieres, Diary of a Prosecutor and Black Dog. And hot dog, comin’ in with 5.0 percent and 4.4 percent respectively. Then, we had VIP and 9.9 Billion Won Woman getting nice and comfy in the double digits. Meanwhile, 9.9′s competition continued to fall way, way behind.

Over the weekend, we had Stove League go into its second week with a generous increase — going from 5.5 percent to 11.4 percent. Quite a homerun for this sports drama. Below it, Crash Landing on You had an increase in numbers as well. The drama is already inching towards double digits, which comes as no surprise with this star writer.

End of the year and only Crash Landing on you is on my plate. Well, finishing up Camillia too. However, looking back on what I’ve watched this year, I’ve been quite satisfied with what I’ve done. 11 kdramas, 12 including Camilla, and 2 cdramas. I still have to sort out my Beans for the Bean Count though! Hope everyone else has has a productive drama-watching year!

Yes, I wish we had a sub-heading for the Bean Count so we could access it easily.

Really rooting for a HE for Jung Sun though it might not happening soon. I hope what Sung Woo said when playing the robot is true. She deserves happiness. However, with only 2 episodes left, not sure if the show manages to deliver a satisfying ending and not rush things. All the more, I hope it won't follow the tradition of "season cliff hanger without season 2 being confirmed" of Vagabond and Love Alarm. At least LA is filling season 2 though. Will wait for it to be aired and read the comments to make sure it really ends before continue watching it.

Yay! I'm pleasantly surprised but not puzzled about Stove League's jump. That cliffhanger from last week was a huge shocker (in a good way). The wait for episode 3 was torture.

I started Stove league only for Nam gun min, to be honest. But I am blown away by the tightly and smartly written script. I am absolutely loving all the casts. I wonder if anyone knows an Indian sports film, "Chak de India". This drama reminds me a lot of that film. A team which is in the lowest of the low position. Then a quirky and strange coach (general manager in SL) takes the lead, chaos reigns but the team improves by enormous margins. Gosh, I cannot wait when Dreams starts to leave everyone behind and rush towards the championship!

What is the reason for all of these high ratings at the end of the year? Very pleased to see Diary of a Prosecutor getting the highest first episode ratings ever on JTBC. Hope it maintains viewers' interest.

I had a theory going on during summer that ratings pickup in winter because people stay indoors. I even made a small drama rating study since the ratings was so low during June-July and also because I have nothing else to do 🤣.

I'm happy for Park Eun Bin! I hope the ratings will be strong until the end. But when a stylist will give her clothes that look good? Because in all her dramas, her clothes are awful or weird. I know she's thin and she can wear 3 layers of clothes without looking bundled up but it still looks bad... She's so pretty!

I like what PEB is wearing in Stove League. I feel that it suits her character~

I really don't like the mode of turtleneck under a shirt and a jacket. She was wearing the same in Judge vs Judge. Her jackets are too big for her. I understand it's the sport environnement, but she still could wear simple suits that fit her body.

Crash Landing, Diary of a Prosecutor, Stove League and Black Dog. Not bad, not bad at all. The ratings keep on increasing, nice.

I've been watching 'crash landing on you' but 'chocolate' is just my cup of tea nowadays with my. own feelings and my age ^_^

Honestly, I would love to see higher ratings for Chocolate. But I guess it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, so that’s fine. If any Beanie wants something which brings back that nostalgia feelings we got from Kdramas 10 years ago, plus beautiful cinematography, I guess you might want to give this one a try.

Just want more Beanies to enjoy this one together hehehe 🤣

Chocolate is heavy melo especially after episodes 7 and 8. It might not be to everyone’s liking compared to the other lighter dramas. Though for some reason I find myself gravitating towards this show more than the others and will watch all the others later. I think episode 9 onwards will be a little less focused on the sadness (I hope!) and more development on Cha Young and Kang’s relationship. It looks like Joon will play the unknowing Cupid next episode 😉

Stove League really deserved that jump in the ep. 2 ratings, and it's maintaining the quality through ep. 4. I never thought I'd be hooked on a baseball drama.

Wow, what caused Stove League massive increase in ratings? I like it so far. Namgoong Min is on a hot streak this year.

Currently watching and enjoying Chocolate, Woman of 9.9 Billion Won and Crash Landing on You (in that particular order). I have to say that Crash Landing is plenty ridiculous though yet still a fun, breezy watch. Such a contrast from the mood of the other two dramas. Ha!

I want to check out Diary of a Prosecutor, as well, for the cast but might wait for more episodes to come out.
