Comic thriller Psychopath Diary releases new Yoon Shi-yoon, Jung In-sun stills
by tineybeanie
In Psychopath Diary, bumbling company man Yoon Shi-yoon (Nokdu Flower) accidentally stumbles onto a scene where he witnesses a murder. While running away, he is hit by a car and loses his memory. When he wakes up, he finds a diary with records of multiple gruesome murders in his possession. Believing that the diary is his own, he begins to adopt the persona of the person he believes himself to be: a psychopathic serial killer.
The recently released stills feature Yoon Shi-yoon and his co-star Jung In-sun (My Secret Terrius) in moments surrounding Yoon Shi-yoon’s car accident. She plays a passionate neighborhood cop who has stayed true to reality rather than following her dreams. This case ignites her desire to engage in investigations and actively pursue criminals.
According to the main writer Ryu Yong-jae (Liar Game), the starting point of his writing process began with the question: “In a world where psychopaths succeed, do we also need to become monsters like them to survive?” With a chilling premise like that, I know that I’m interested.
tvN’s upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama, directed by Lee Jong-jae (100 Days My Prince) and co-written by Ryu Yong-jae, Kim Hwan-chae, Choi Sung-joon, will start airing on November 20.

I feel this "comic thriller" could give me severe whiplash, but I'd try anything for bumbling Yoon Shi Yoon.
At least Car of Doom is in the credits this time!

@wishfultoki,
I've already got my chiropractor on speed-dial, Sis. Like you, I'll risk genre whiplash for Yoon Si-yoon's charisma any day of the week.
“In a world where psychopaths succeed, do we also need to become monsters like them to survive?” -- This rings a more-than-faint bell. I seem to recall reading something on this subject about 30-35 years ago.

Was excited about this Psychopath Diary thriller then I noted "comic".
Not so sure, Yoon Shi Yoon seems not so great in comedic roles but better in emotional melo ones. Just hope its not too slapstick...

He was funnily adorable in Flower Boy Next Door. He was also charmingly funny in Mirror of the Witch, so I have hope!

I watched the trailer - I think I agree with you about his acting in comedic roles. It wasn't very good.

I just wish that the writers can pull it off really nicely since the genre is in between thriller and comedy... anyways, I love the casts and I just want to watch it already!!!

Yo, @marcusnyc20 bong-soo! You should be getting back from China soon. (Hope you had a great trip.) Mark your calendar for Nov. 20 -- YSY's new drama premieres.

Hi @pakalanapikake. Thanks for the shout out. I am back from China. I got into JFK at 3 am this morning. I am just starting to check in.
OK. For YSY I am going to break a rule I decided on for the rest of the year which was not to start a tvN drama and that only because of tvN's episodic length.
I am in catch up mode for CAMELLIA, VAGABOND and MY COUNTRY and through episode 12 of MISAENG.
The good news is that PD will be available on Viki so no availability angst. I do have a question on how long it will take to sub episodes because of episodic length.
Maybe I am anticipating a problem that won’t exist.
(tvN’s MELTING ME SOFTLY is on Viki and all the aired episodes are available subbed.)
Lol. The first thing though is something has to be done with YSY’s hair. Maybe in the first episode he can be tossed in the clink and get a mandatory buzz cut.

@marcusnyc20 bong-soo,
Glad you're back in time for PSYCHOPATH DIARY's premiere. I agree with you about YSY's needing a jailhouse shearing!
No spoilers, but CAMELLIA has been quite a ride. Gong Hyo-jin has been terrific in her excruciatingly authentic portrayal of Dong-baek. MY COUNTRY has been intense, with Ahn Nae-sang, Jang Hyuk, Jang Young-nam (Madame Seo) and Park Ye-jin (Queen Shindeok) turning in top-notch performances, along with OTP Hwi and Sun-ho. I watched ep. 13 raw a couple of hours ago, and am still wrapping my head around it. I'm behind on commenting on both shows, but still avidly watching.
I don't know whether PEGASUS MARKET has been on your radar at all, but it has been a much-needed, creatively whacky foil to the seriousness of CAMELLIA and MY COUNTRY. It's not without poignancy, and there's a nice bit of heart to it. The ensemble cast is great, and I love the music. It's been weird to see Park Ho-san airing as simultaneous villains in PEGASUS MARKET and FLOWER CREW: JOSEON MARRIAGE AGENCY. Kim Byung-chul slays me in this show. How he can keep a straight face is entirely beyond me. Highly recommended for its inspired lunacy.

Yoon Shi yoon - a big no for me. Hated him in Baker King and then didn't like him in anything else since.
Psychopathic murderer? Okay then, that sounds really interesting and fun (so I'm a little weird).
Wait - watched the trailer...it's a comedy? Nah. Forget it, he didn't seem to have good comedic timing.

Hate's a pretty strong word...but I see I used it. I did hate his character in Baker King.

It appears tvN is a mixed bag when it comes to series. On the one hand there's My Ajusshi and on the other there's Melting Me Softly, Search WWW and then Abyss. So there's no guessing how this show's going to turn out.
