New levels of petty between ballerina and angel in Angel’s Last Mission: Love

You would think that a ballerina and an angel would be a much sweeter combo than what we have here. KBS’s Angel’s Last Mission: Love has recently released two new trailers featuring leads Shin Hye-sun (Thirty But Seventeen), L (or Kim Myung-soo, Miss Hammurabi), and Lee Dong-gun (Fox Bride Star). The two clips have some more serious vibes to them than I expected, especially since we’re talking about a rom-com between an errant angel and a top ballerina, but I’m hoping we get plenty of fish-out-of-heaven hijinks along the way.

In the teaser featuring our two leads, the clip starts off with our ballerina looking like she’s about to get into an accident, if the falling glass is any indication. She’s shielded by white wings, though the tone of the clip abruptly changes as she asks us who we think is protecting whom. The poor angel, without wings, is seen struggling on the judo mat as Shin Hye-sun coldly watches from the side. And when he does have wings (they’re really going for the white wings in this drama, huh?), the hot-tempered ballerina grabs at them during a fight. L, as the angel, says that he doesn’t want to have to do anything with that ‘ajumma,’ as we see them pettily bickering, culminating in her calling the cops on the angel. The clip takes a serious turn in the last ten seconds, where we see a car crash, the ballerina literally dancing on the ledge of a bridge, and the angel running somewhere with purpose.

The next teaser focuses on Lee Dong-gun’s character, a well-known artistic director of the ballet company Shin Hye-sun is a member of. He watches the ballerinas move and adjusts several poses, while telling us that he “believes in [his] choices.” He addresses Shin Hye-sun offscreen, saying that she will definitely “return to the top” and that he will “make that happen.” Intercutting his dialogue are snippets of a ballerina dancing on stage, who we presume is Shin Hye-sun before something happened to her that affected her ability to dance. I have to say that the mood of Lee Dong-gun’s clip was a bit eerier than expected, because his character comes off as a little obsessive with Shin Hye-sun as the object of his obsession, but maybe that’s just more emphasized in this clip and won’t be as apparent in the actual show. Let’s hope so.

Angel’s Last Mission: Love will premiere on May 22 and take over KBS’s Wednesday-Thursday slot from currently airing Doctor Prisoner.

I am really waiting for this drama ! it looks so pretty! and intriguing too! Lee Dong Gun's character is certainly a lot more menacing in his obsessive traits.

But Shin Hye Sun and L looks awesome! She is so pretty!

It looks amazing visually. I am really looking forward to watch it. Lee Dong Gun's character seems to be the stereotypical obsessed ballet teacher/director that pushes people to the limit to get what he wants.

While reading I was reminded of one beautiful movie which was remade in Hollywood, but you can't compare with original, I suddenly have this urgent need to see it, where's my dvd? The Sky over Berlin with Nick Cave's music in it, it's a treasure of mankind!

Looking forward to see L, he's such a handsome young man, he doesn't need and and people are pleased with his being 😉

I will watch this simply because I love Shin Hye-sun. She is an excellent actor. Not as thrilled with L though. He hasn't been the best actor in the things I've seen as his acting feels stiff and forced. Hopefully he can surprise me.

He surprised me immensely in Miss Hammurabi.

I did hear he was good in that drama but I've personally not seen it. Hopefully he carries the improvement in his acting from that drama to this one!

He was good- but I found that the writing was flat- the writers never actually figured out what kind of show that they wanted.

We will agree to disagree. To me MH was one of the best written dramas recently.

This drama has a lot going for it --fun premise, great director, solid actors. (I'm willing to give L the benefit of the doubt, since he looks great in the teasers). But the writer scares me. I've heard Lucky Romance had issues.

Lucky Romance was a horrible drama. Horrible. I watched it before I learned its ok to drop dramas that are horrible. Its the only drama that I've watched where I rooted for the TOD to come for the female lead.
