Kwak Dong-yeon goes from prince’s bodyguard in Moonlight to young king in Goblin

Look who’s moving up the royal ranks in dramaland. I just love Kwak Dong-yeon right now as the prince’s badass bodyguard in Moonlight Drawn By Clouds (So mysterious! So pretty! Such perfectly placed hair!), and I’m excited to see him again right away in tvN’s new fantasy romance Goblin, which has now changed its title to The Lonely, Shining Goblin. At least the new title helps evoke the melancholy feel that the drama promises, since goblins don’t sound resplendent and broody like their vampire counterparts. At least, not until Gong Yoo (Big) plays one. Goblins as a species just hit the jackpot, is all I’m sayin’.
The downside is that Kwak Dong-yeon’s role will only be a cameo, which is disappointing. But he’s set to play a young king, which makes me wonder if the modern drama will have a historical backstory for the immortal goblin. Kwak Dong-yeon would make a very nice king of hell too, since they don’t really specify what he’s the king of. In any case, I’m really looking forward to seeing Kwak Dong-yeon’s career take off — he was always a very good child actor and has tried everything from sageuk to farcical comedy, but he’s suddenly so charismatic and mature in Moonlight Drawn By Clouds, and he’s only nineteen!
The new fantasy series from the star PD-writer team behind Descended From the Sun stars Gong Yoo as a goblin who wants to be rid of his immortal life and takes a human bride, played by Kim Go-eun (Cheese in the Trap), in order to end it. The goblin lives with an amnesiac grim reaper, played by Lee Dong-wook (Bubblegum), and the pair of them will guide souls to the afterlife. Yoo Inna (One More Happy Ending), Yook Sung-jae (Village: Secret of Achiara), and Lee El (Monster) co-star.
The Lonely, Shining Goblin, about the strange, sad, mysterious, and beautiful lives of a goblin and a reaper who meet somewhere between a fate and a curse, will air on Fridays and Saturdays following The K2 in December.

I'm late '95 liner and that's my rule with Lee Tae Hwan, Yook Sung Jae, Jongup, Minwoo, Kwangmin, Youngmin, S.coups. I call all of them oppa.
Unfortunately it doesn't apply to Jimin, V, Ren, Jeonghan, Joshua. They're my closest dongsaengs.
I was shocked by Lee Tae Hwan being 21. It's more difficult to look up year lines for actors.

Ah, it makes me remember the days I knew him as that kid who's in a lot of kbs's drama special circa 2014 and, he was like only 15 that time but brought out so many layers and acting chops in each drama. I was really excited when his casting news came out. Although I'm dissapointed with the cameo appearance news, I wish that his role is unique enough to make more people to know him.
Yes, he's nineteen but I'm greedy to see him in more biggger roles and for him to make big screen debut.
Kim Sohyun said in her recent interview about the Three Kims that they're being compared because it's less competition for actors their age. It means that actors below the age of 20 rarely casted for big role in dramas. Wish actors born 1997 onwards like Yeo Jingoo, Kwak Dongyeon and Kang MinA got better opportunities in the future.

I almost cry after googling him after Moonlight first episode. I liked him in Adolescence Medley (Medley of Youth) and thought he only looking youthful, not that he's actually young.
He's definitely looks like he'll grow up and be a nice leading man.
Anytime he smiles in Moonlight, I just stopped and rewind. Cheeky smiles, stop again, rewind again. Rinse, repeat. and again.

I knew some of the sword/katana techniques and many saeguk have this weird measurement for sword because they may want to make it fit the frame or fit the actor height, or looked like has a good design,

This is definitely shaping up to be something I'm interested in watching. I've got a weak spot for fantasy/magic dramas so I'm really hoping the world they set up is layered and complex. (without being complicated for the sake of being complicated.) The show is sounding like an urban fantasy with all this talk of monsters and souls side by side with chaebol heirs. Fingers crossed that it's good.

I simply lost all will to even when I read KDY is 19. I had to look it up for myself. I knew he was younger than me when Modern Farmer aired. But I thought it was within a year. TEARS!
Wasn't moving very fast to get ready for school. I had to play my parents' song from Thai Kiss Me. Tenten appa and Taliw eomma wouldn't approve of being late because of a boy.

well, since I intend to steal all his costumes for Moonlight he has no other option but to find a new drama. that pleated thing he wore in ep 6 was a dream.

19?!?!?!?!?! I wish he had a bigger part in Moonlight. I heard in the novel he's supposed to be the other part of the triangle (but the drama has made it a love square). He's definitely going to be a hit sometime down the road with that eye of his (and he's cute) ^^

KDY has shown us that he got the acting chops. His most memorable characters for me would be as the clueless, nerdy, adorable Janggun in My Husband Got A Family and as Jung Tae in Age Of Feeling. If there is another Reply series, I hope they will cast him. Janggun 2.0
