We’re currently experiencing technical problems

Girlfriday and I are intermittently unable to access our own site. So I am writing this message quickly before I get kicked out of my own home (my own home!!) to let you guys know what’s going on, even though frankly, WE don’t know exactly what’s going on.
We had a bunch of posts lined up to post today, but held off because of the problem, which is why it’s been quiet around here. We’re hoping to get back online asap, so we can recommence recaps and our other regularly scheduled programming.
We’re pretty fed up with problems, and we’ll let you all know more when everything is settled. (Oh god, please tell me that time will come. I’m clinging to that light at the end of the tunnel. No, that not that tunnel, the other one were we don’t die.)

good luck. I've had problems with the site for weeks in both mobile and desktop formats, most of them being ad-based, which made the whole page seize up. I hope whoever your ads contact is can resolve the problem.

Do you (or your webhost) use a caching feature, perhaps?
I can't think of another reason why some posts become accessible to some and not to others. :(

Oh, the reason for that is it's an empty sidebar ad. You'll see the little red arrow on the side of the screen after you click the little red x.

I know you guys need ads to sustain all the hard work you're doing but is there anyway to make them less obtrusive? Like that new one hat comes into the left side of the screen, showing all kinds of gnarly images??? Is there anyway you can at least choose tasteful ads, or is there no way to control them? Your work is so magnificent and so appreciated and dignified. I just wish that the elegance of your site can be echoed in the type of ads being shown - and how they are shown.

i'd just like to repeat the comments of people who've had problems with the ads on this website. i'm a longtime reader. i don't have a problem with you trying to make money off of ads. but i have more problems because of the ads on this website than really any other website i visit, including websites that i consider much more commercial. the ads are very intrusive (eg, popping up on the side or the middle on the website), and what's worse, they cause problems with the browser freezing up constantly. it almost makes the website unusable. so, whatever problems you're having yourself, please know as a reader, my problems are 100% ad-based. it'd be great if it could be fixed. thank you.

Agreed. Finding it very difficult to navigate with ads on the left with some having no 'close ad' button.

Wow,
I was thinking to throw the towel on this web. The ads keeps popped up and freeze the Internet.
I was going insanely frustrated.
I am OK now since it not my connection alone.
