Go Soo, Sol Kyung-gu offered suspense thriller Lucid Dream
by girlfriday
This is a cool concept that just got more interesting after the announcement that Go Soo (Empire of Gold) might headline: The new movie Lucid Dream will be about a father who revisits his dreams in order to parse together clues to save his kidnapped child. It’s a suspense thriller produced by NEW and helmed by new director Kim Joon-sung (who worked on the bromance action movie Fist of Legend), and offers are currently out to Go Soo and Sol Kyung-gu (Hope) to costar.
The movie is based on the concept that you can purposefully control your dream environment while lucid dreaming, the boundaries of which I’m sure will be stretched in the film. If he signs on, Go Soo will play the father of a child who gets kidnapped, and in order to unpack the facts he’s buried in his memory, he has to get the help of someone who can send him back into his dreams while half-awake. They race against the clock while poking around in his dreams for clues about the crime, which he collects in bits pieces. There aren’t any details yet about Sol Kyung-gu’s character.
Is it basically Inception with a dash of Memento baked with Ajusshi? On second thought, it kind of sounds like the OCN “memory-chase” drama Reset… I hope it does a better job than that. If it’s directed well, this could be a stylish thriller that’s both psychologically creepy and full of suspenseful action.
Both actors are considering favorably for now. Go Soo has the historical film Tailors due out on Christmas Eve, and Sol Kyung-gu is currently shooting his war movie The Western Front with Yeo Jin-gu.
Lucid Dream plans to start shooting early next year.

Oooh if this is done right it has the potential to be awesome. Go Soo, he of the soulfoul eyes, would do good in this. Though I am a little tired of "fridging" the poor children for these movies.

This reminds me to watch Paprika again. It enfluenced a lot of films, but thanks to Inception I wasn't able to sleep for days for fear of falling into a lucid dream and never waking. *shivers*
I look forward to this film though. It has Go Soo!

I recently watched Paprika. It was a little bit crazy, in a good way. It also inspired Inception.

You had me at Go Soo.
I was hoping he'd would do a drama. But I guess seeing him on screen is good enough for me. This does sound awesome if executed well though, so here's to hoping!

Wah, such an A-list cast. So it means that Sol Kyung Gu will filming this movie after his movie with Yeo Jin Goo Western Front end or he will do double duty here. Since it stated this movie will start filming early next year.

Sol Kyung-gu is hands down one of the best actors in K-cinema, maybe even the world. That is all.
