Jo Seung-woo up to play Lee Bo-young’s leading man
by girlfriday
There’s a good chance that Jo Seung-woo might be coming back to dramaland for a second time. The film and musical actor only made his drama debut two years ago in the medical sageuk epic The Horse Healer, where he played the titular vet-turned-royal-physician. He’s currently being courted for SBS’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama God’s Gift–14 Days, which has secured Lee Bo-young (I Hear Your Voice) to headline. He’s just considering the role for now, but I think they’d make a great pair, and I also want him to take it because I couldn’t manage to care about horse doctoring but I do want to watch him in dramas.
God’s Gift is the time-slip drama that stars Lee Bo-young as a mother whose daughter gets kidnapped and killed, and she magically gets the chance to go back in time two weeks so she can try to prevent it from happening all over again. There isn’t much character information on the male lead, and the role is just described as a man who throws himself into helping the heroine as they race to save her daughter. I just wish we knew if he were playing a cop, a clown, or a really gung-ho boyfriend.
It won’t be a story that leaves a lot of time for anything other than the mission, but I loved the way Two Weeks hinted at larger story in small character moments, and would be happy if each new condensed-time drama this year (since there will be so many) could improve upon the last. I’ve almost given up on time travel being anything more than an initial gimmick, so all I’m looking for is some basic internal logic on that front. That’s not too much to ask for, right? Wait, don’t answer that.
God’s Gift–14 Days follows Warm Words and premieres in February.

I so love him but Horse Healer was a bore. Hope this will be a better project for him.
He is a fantastic stage actor, I wish I was in Korea so I can go to his musicals.

Me too! If only plane tickets aren't that expensive and I could understand Korean. But YouTube footage helps a lot.

I've never seen him anything so I can't comment on his acting. I do think he's cute so that feeds on my shallow side I guess.
"... A clown" LMFAO - that's hilarious. Why can't we have a drama where the hero works in a circus or is a clown by profession but is actually really serious in personality. Or something...? That's not appealing is it?
I really am not fond of time traveling dramas. Never seen one and don't think that will change any time soon. I actually just don't get the concept. But this sounds like a heart warming drama so if it gets recapped, I'll surely try following it.

I don't think she meant clown as in literally a clown, but a clumsy goodhearted guy?
Anyway, I've yet to see him in a drama/movie as well. I recall he won the daesang so I want to see anything with him in but Horse Doctor? No thanks, and it's long.
I have yet to see my first time traveling drama (I avoided them all so well until now) but I will give it a try. I really want to see him in something and there's LBY.

*squeesqueesqueeeeee* I'd take Jo Seung-wo in every form. Yes, I even watched the whole loooooong Horse Doctor just for him and I'd watch a lame remake of Two Weeks and I'd even survive Lee Bo-Young just for him (minority here that hated IHYV).
Should he come back to the small screen I'd be a very happy Noona.

Wow, this sounds really interesting, and sure to tug on my heartstrings. Not familiar with this actor, since I didn't see Horse Healer, but the drama itself sounds promising. And I like Lee Bo-young, though I couldn't finish her last drama (wasn't into the noona romance, especially since he was still in high school). And I like the condensed time/time-slip idea in general. Will watch this when it airs.

Now I'd be on board for this pairing!!! :)
I watched all of Horse Doctor, despite the second half being all draggy...but still loved Jo Seung-woo in his role as Kwang-hyon. I was surprised that it was his first drama role...I do remember when HD finished, he had said that he'd stick to movies. But I'm glad he's rethinking that and hopefully will be starring against the always awesome Lee Bo-young..if he accepts, then this'll definitely be on my to-watch list!
By the way...wow, HD aired two years ago already?!? How time flies...

I think I knew him. I think I knew him. I think I knew him.
Right! He played in Love Phohia, the male lead who I thought was Andi Law before.
I didn't know that he just made his debut drama 2 year ago! Wa this oppa should definitely play in dramaland. And pairing with Lee Bo young in action drama would be awesome, right? [praying hard]

But wait, isn't this mainly about the female lead?? I don't think I have seen enough character sketch about what Jo Seung-woo will play in. Geee, I'm kinda 50/50 whether he should accept this or not... In any case, fighting, oppa!
