Lee Sang-woo in talks to join Warm Words
by girlfriday
Man, his last drama Goddess of Marriage just wrapped over the weekend, but Lee Sang-woo is already getting ready to star in his next one. He’s reportedly finalizing contracts to join SBS’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama Warm Words, where he’ll complete the love square as husband to Han Hye-jin (26 Years). It’s good news for anyone who skipped his last few dramas for their length since this one’s a miniseries, though I’m not really sold on the premise. On the other hand, Lee Sang-woo.
Warm Words is the new show from the writer of Can We Get Married and the PD of Five Fingers, described as a Desperate Housewives-esque drama about a messy love square between two married couples. Ji Jin-hee (The Great Seer) stars as the hero (or cad, as the case may be), who begins a dangerous love affair and walks a fine line to keep his family from unraveling. You mean unraveling because you’re having an affair? I hope there’s more to it than that, because they promise to make him sympathetic.
Kim Ji-soo (King Geunchogo) plays Ji Jin-hee’s wife, who discovers her husband’s affair but hides her calculating personality under a sweet smile and keeps silent tabs on him. I’m guessing this means he has the affair with Han Hye-jin, who’s simply described as having a bright personality. Her husband Lee Sang-woo will have a happy disposition to match, but I wouldn’t expect him to play his usual heartbroken Mr. Perfect character here. I’m pretty sure it’s the kind of drama where everyone has an affair, and nobody gets to wear the white hat.
Warm Words follows Suspicious Housekeeper and premieres December 2.

I really like him and always find him to be a warm presence on screen. But man, I wish he'd pick better dramas. I'm not sure this one is going to break the crummy trend. :(

Hoping for the same as well. He needs to pick better roles or better management. Can't believe he is still in second lead zone after all this time.

I love him too much in Feast Of the God, are waiting to see him again but he is acting in dramas with too mature actors/female leads. Why don't they pair him with someone look younger.

Lol. He must be traumatized by the Goddess Of Marriage debacle (how many lines of dialogue for our poor second male lead?)... That's why he's taking a new project so soon. ;)
On one hand the premise is not that appealing, on the other hand the writer of Can We Get Married? caught my attention. I'll try this and see if that sticks.

Well, LSW's character will have an affair first, so I guess the storyline will have HHJ retaliating but then falling in love with JJH... I get the impression that KJS is supposed to be a scary character but I hope they don't go full on caricature mode because real life is usually much more murky and inconclusive.

Ooh if you hadn't mention the writer of Can We Get Married, this probably wouldn't have piquedy interest. I loved all the fast flying dialogue in CWGM, it was....fast...like really fast.

I ran out of money printing "free Lee Sang Woo" and "free Kim Ji Hoon" t-shirts in response to Goddess of Marriage. I was so excited to see that he was doing something else so quickly to wash the bad taste out of his mouth, but this . . .? Couldn't he be in something happy, funny, goofy? I would even take him in a suspense thriller. This just sounds like a short version of a new drama that should be called "Affairs, Unhappy People, and Tears."
Actually, I would probably watch a show called that just because FINALLY a title that was honest about the plot. What a waste of that smile.

OMG! He made me want to gouge my eyes out in Goddess of Marriage. Such a sad sack!!!!!!!!! Holy melancholy. He's such a great actor and beautiful hottie but was TOTALLY wasted in that drama.

"Warm Words" seems like an odd title for a "Desperate Housewives-esque drama about a messy love square".
Love, love, love LSW but I've been bored, bored, bored by his aloof characters lately. I really want to see him take on a radically different role- and preferably not involving being part of another messy love shape. I enjoyed seeing some of his passionate side in Life is Beautiful, and I want moar!

Ji jin hee and Lee sang woo. hhmmnn such a dilemma. who to root for?
The douchey cheater or the husband possible revenge stalker to be? why not just go to divorce land than be embroidered in such a myriad complicated marriage... oh wait, that's different story? different drama? oh sorry may have had some excesses left from GoM protests in my brain.
Anyway was gonna check it out since Ji Jin hee is on, add LSW and im on board.

You really can't get much more MANLY than LSW and JJH.
Wow.
Can I have just a tiny little corner of that Love square? I don't even need 90° degrees. 45°? 30°?
LSW needs some happy words coming out of his mouth for a change, for his next 6 dramas, how about?
NO MORE TEARS, babe!!

I like him in FOTG but he chose HD and he didn't shine there then GOM..I didn't watched..I find he always act in the type of guy I call the poor tragic actor I didn't like his previous old drama and even the movie something about the Elephant...why must he act in a sort of scandals stories...poor actor I might not watched any of his drama anymore even he make me melt with his smile and his kissing scene is worth watching....hahaha Thank you DB.

I'm really liking the combo of Ji Jin-hee and Lee Sang-woo in the same drama.
In spite of the premise, if the characters are to be sympathetic, both of these actors can certainly pull off the required emotional seriousness without being scary or at the other extreme, wishy-washy.
Will keep an eye out for this one.

DB family...I am so sorry but I love LSW, his smile, his voice and even the not so good dramas he has played in. A drama can be the worst of the worst but I will watch it if LSW is included in the cast. Until I can cure this addiction please bare with me during those bouts where I defend him..:-)

Grading on a family drama scale, I really liked that drama a lot (and they're usually not my cup of tea). Besides, the mom in it is the single awesomest mom in all of kdrama.

I didn't know this was written by the Can We Get Married writer, count me in.

UGH! I hated Desperate Housewives. I tried to watch it twice: when it first started airing, then a few months ago on Netflix, but I could never get into it. I just thought all the "housewives" seemed really desperate and pathetic. I don't like extramarital affairs on television or movies, unless the marriage is a bad one, like where the spouse pays no attention to the cheater to begin with or is abusive. So, no, not watching this. But if it's recapped I may be able to handle it.

I don't know what it is about LSW. I find him attractive, the sexy voice, handsome and his buff body but I have yet to finish watching all the dramas that he has been in and I find that he tends to play the same character over and over again (maybe with some variance but at the core its the same character!!) . Then I watched him in 'Hwashin' with the other GOM's cast member, and I find him 'devoid of character'?

Han Hye Jin!! I really like her but ugh... I think GoM's lame writer -I HATE THIS WRITER!- traumatized me to the point I feel like avoiding this drama because LSW is in it... I dont know if I should blame him because it was my 1st time seeing him but his character was the worst character EVER.. I always end up liking 2nd male leads more but not this time. He had NO life... Like, I swear he was less than a cameo.

I really liked him in Feast of the Gods. Whoever wrote this -it was terrific. There was so many relations in this drama. It was learning about life and all emotions and relations.
I have to say he is one of the best good looking Korean actors and the sensitivity and caring he showed in drama was very moving compared to other dramas. I could really like someone e with this type of character he is good looking, nice smile, smart, and very feeling. Terrific!
