I think it's because yonghwa has more to do in his schedule as a leader which is maybe why he pulled out of this project, while his band members are trying to gain more recognition since they've now started to become more famous as individuals.
I remember that minhyuk said in an interview that yonghwa worked and rehearsed more than any of them to get the band more recognized, which spurred them to start working harder (which... They probably already do as idols/artists).
But that's only what I think. Who knows maybe the truth is something else entirely??

He was happy when he announced that he was going to take part of drama...by that time LMH was already confirmed as lead so no. Probably his company wants lead.

He knew he was the second lead. LMH already had the lead role and Yonghwa seemed happy to be in this drama knowing that before FNC media played that he declined. I'm thinking he unofficially had a second lead role before PSH signed on. She was announced as being the female lead officially before he was announced as being the 2nd lead officially. He might have backed out because it would be the third time in a role acting opposite PSH and there wasn't really a positive response to that (even from some fans like me who enjoy them together). I'm glad he's backed out. He really needs to build his skills and another eye candy drama isn't going to help him. He needs one of those multi generational 50+ ep weekend dramas family drama filled with actors who truly know what they're doing so they can teach him a thing or two.

A lot of people were talking about how they tried to get a package deal to put some of their other artists in the drama but the production company got annoyed and decided to just cut Yonghwa from the drama than deal with FNC. Yonghwa seemed to be really looking forward to the drama and after the incident where he withdrew he was really upset for quite a while, so that package deal might have been the real reason, cuz Yonghwa had no problems with being in the drama.

Bcs other offers appear to be lead after they confirmed so they pic the lead and replaced him with another member within FNC. MH casting has been hush hush since months ago. Now FNC has, 1 member as lead in a drama, if they ever confirm, and another member in this drama. In their stupid minds that's win-win....FNC has no logic and their PR is super fail.

oh my god, this drama is going to EXPLODE with prettiness. possibly maybe real-life on-set drama? when you get so many good lookers together you wonder about the potential competition amongst them... haha. the only reason i can think of this casting spree is that they will all play students? will it be sort of dream high-ish, in that all of these kids will get little story arcs of their own? many of these people are not virtual unknowns...
i love that they cast kim ji-won and im joo-eun!! finally some female actors i'm actively fond of! i've wanted to see more of both of them after what's up. kim ji-won in particular was just so cute.
i keep forgetting lee min-ho is headlining this thing. so many pretty people (especially boys) joining him. wonder if he's feeling the pressure? hehe

I feel like this drama may need to turn to the sitcom format of being over 100 episodes long, otherwise how are they ever going to fit this many characters into the story in any relevant way?

Can this drama start already? Further casting news about this really deserves that much words only. :)
Too much publicity hurts the drama more than it probably should, in my opinion. I'm getting Heirs-fatigue already and the script's probably not even written yet.
I'm still 50-50 over watching this. My top 3 reasons to watch: LMH, Kim Woo-bin, Kang Ha-neul. In addition, the latest news that it's gonna be more BOF (again!) than GG is sort of good news for me. Gu Jun-pyo was really the only reason I stuck through BOF, but it's kinda sad that LMH will play this type again with more Kim-Eun-sook-typical-male-lead-ass-ery thrown into the character.
Even if the writing's kinda so-so, I'd hope the directing, acting (half of the cast), and the OST would make up for it.

The more buzz there is, the less interesting this drama is getting... it feels like it will be the drama of pretty people and idols, but what about the story? Is anyone focusing on that? I get wary when dramas spin the publicity machine like these months before going on air. I guess the next onslaught will be pictures and teasers?
The acting is going to be all over the place, which isn't that encouraging. But I guess there'll be so much pretty on the screen, that if someone's acting fails you just look somewhere else.
That said, Kang Min Hyuk and Kim Ji Won aren't bad additions, KMH was rather delightful in Heartstrings and Kim Ji Won was allright in What's Up

On a totally irrelevant note (but more interesting than the story above, I believe), Lee Kwang Soo already has his own Dramabeans Header! I don't know if it's been here a long time but it's the first time I've seen it and it looks adorable. He's adorable.

It looks pretty and well-made. I hope you make more Lee Kwang Soo headers! And I hope he lands a lead role soon!
And since Heirs is basically casting everyone in Korea right now, I hope LKS gets casted too! I'd drop all the other 10 people (or is it 20? 50?) recently added to the show for this guy.

He's currently in Goddess of Fire (which is EXCELLENT, btw) and is great at playing the sleazy, sneaky Prince brother.
