Nam Sang-mi becomes Goddess of Marriage for SBS
by javabeans
New drama alert! It’s called Goddess of Marriage, and this one headlines three stars I like very much, which automatically makes me sit up a bit straighter and hope a little harder for a good result. I mean, I always hope for a good result, but when you’ve got Kim Ji-hoon (so gruffly sweet, as in Flower Boy Next Door), Nam Sang-mi (warm and earnest in an endearing way, as in Light and Shadow), and Lee Sang-woo (so awesome as the best oppa ever in Thousand Day Promise) — well, you really want the drama not to waste all that collective charm.
It’s a weekend series for SBS, and as you may surmise from the title, the story explores the meaning of marriage through the storyline of its lead, a radio writer played by Nam Sang-mi. She dreams of a sweet, pure love and falls into a love triangle with our two men, with the ensuing romance looking at the reality of love versus the ideal. It’s not clear which guy is the bigger lead from the descriptions and both actors are on similar levels of fame, so we can’t start crying yet about the one who gets left in the cold. I suppose we could wish for nobody to be left out of the romance, but I’m pretty sure that’s a different kind of drama entirely, and maybe not one we get to see on family-friendly weekend broadcasters. So crying it is.
There will be a number of other characters and love triangles featured, as the show follows four women all dealing in some form with the question of what marriage means to them, a concept that calls to mind the cable drama Marriage Plot (though hopefully in a more cohesive and skillful way). That means that we’ll be getting a balance of personalities and romantic experiences… or we will if the drama does a decent job with the premise. And despite its slot on weekends, it sounds like Goddess of Marriage skew more toward being a modern trendy careerwoman drama, as opposed to the usual multigenerational family sprawl.
Goddess of Marriage comes from the PD of Brilliant Legacy and will follow the upcoming series Birth Secret, which places its premiere all the way in July. It plans to begin filming at the end of April, though, which does give the show a pretty roomy head start to film and prepare — let’s hope it uses that time wisely.

That's what I have in mind as well. I am torn between both of them. Want to see our best Oppa in TDoP and Horse Healer find his happiness and get the lady, but in other hand, I want to see KJH be happy and get the lady as well..
Dilemma, dilemma indeed. ^^

Now that's a horse race -- can't BOTH of them be Best Oppa Ever? Mega-ditto here with the Anticipation Factor; this is a really solid cast and I hope that this turns out well for all involved.
Ha. No wonder Kim Ji-hoon's been travelling around the States. Get that vacay time in while you still can sweetie, because it's back to the grindstone once you return to Korea! :)

I wish Lee Sang Woo could have an interesting and meaningful role for a change: His part in the recent Horse Doctor was a joke. I bet he will be the nice guy who wants to settle down with the heroine and have a family while the young wolf will be the passionate boyfriend.

OMG. OMG. OMG. i haven't been this excited for a cast in a long time. please, drama, be good. and make those tear-inducing moments be worthy of tears from genuine emotion, not frustration with the writer/director/editor/anyone else who can screw up a cast this awesome.
i've always rooted for kim ji-hoon or lee sang-wwo in their dramas. now this is going to make me confused. at least i can dream about getting the guy who doesn't end up getting nam sang-mi?

Ack! This reminds me of Feast of the Gods, which also starred Lee Sang Woo, in that for most of the drama, it was really hard to tell which adorable oppa was gonna get the girl. That was hard on a fangirl's heart. (I don't recommend FotG, btw-- my hormones made me watch it.) It looks like I'll have the same challenge with this drama-- how can I possibly choose between KJH and LSW? I could solve my problem by shipping KJH + LSW, but I also really like NSM, especially when she's being bubbly.

Now I just really, really want all three of them to end up in a stable polygamous relationship. Not just because when you have two guys like that to choose from, the best thing to do is keep them both - although that is certainly a factor. Also because many guys would have an equally hard time choosing between the awesome lady and the equally awesome guy!

I agree with you -the writer and director at FOTG were crazy not to have taken advantaged of the sizzling chemistry between SYR and LSW.They made them end with each other anyway but oh so lame.
They are always blaming SYR for not responding warmly to LSW's affections but she was only following directions. She aggressively kissed Kang Jihwan in Detective Cha ,the movie which was shot ahead of FOTG .
But if they sizzled in their scenes the more dating rumors would float around.

LSW has a silent inner sexy machine that works similarly to electrostatic induction.
You don't realize the strength of his magnetism until other people come on screen, but you don't look at them or listen to (read) what they are saying. Because suddenly there just isn't enough time for HIM, there's NEVER enough of him on the screen. When he leaves you are bereft, like a puppy who lost his squeaky toy.
Until he comes back! Look, he's back! Happiness floods back as your eyes send happy thoughts to your heart.
That's what I

Not that there aren't other K actresses that have worked with hot men, I know, I know.but she gets to work with good actors that I like.
How about this list: Lee Sang-yoon, Kim Rae-won, Lee Jun-ki, Ji Hyun-woo, Kim Myung-min?
Hmmmm....in LIB, did LSW and NSM have any scenes together? I can't remember...
She also has the most difficult name for me to remember. It is very unusual, and doesn't have the most often used sounds.
