SBS’s History of the Salaryman finalizes its cast

Jung Ryeo-won, Hong Soo-hyun
History of the Salaryman is the SBS drama coming from the producers of last year’s hit Giant, and after teasing cast possibilities for a while, the drama has now finalized its main cast.
Lee Beom-soo, who also starred in Giant, was an early lock for the series, with Jung Ryeo-won (Pain, Ja Myung Go) now set to play leading lady. Her name had been previously floated, so there’s no surprise with her, nor with Jung Kyeo-woon (Romance Town) also onboard, although his contracts are still in the works. We do have a fresh name in the mix, though, with Hong Soo-hyun signing on.
That’s great, since she’s fantastic. After a rather slow start in her career (Only You, Sangdoo Let’s Go To School), Hong Soo-hyun really burst out of the gates this year with a couple sharp performances: She stole scenes as the jealous frenemy to Yoon Eun-hye in Lie To Me, then put in a strong turn in The Princess’s Man as the commanding-yet-vulnerable Princess Kyung-hye. I remember thinking she was a lackluster actress in earlier dramas, but she’s on fire now and a definite actress to watch.
The four main leads all participated in the drama’s script reading last week, and will begin filming in the upcoming week, with first shoots scheduled for November 17. It’ll air in January.

I always saw her as a weak 1-dimensional actress. But my goodness, The Princess' Man totally showed her prowress. She was my favorite story-line and character.

So did Lee Min-jung (Midas, Cyrano Dating Agency) drop out of History of Salaryman? Since her name is not mention in this article.

I hope JRW doesn't tower over LBS. I just remember her as rather tall looking while LBS is quite short.

she cant possibly be taller than park jin hee in heels, LBS and PJH made it work in giant even though she did kind of tower over him

I totally agree about hong soohyun. I never thought her acting was that good in earlier dramas like temptation of an angel, and she somehow annoyed me in lie to me, i thought it was pretty easy to play a petty jealous friend kind of role. But then I watched Princess' Man and she totally wowed me.

Jung Ryeo-won still looks a bit emaciated.
Hong Soo-hyun really started to annoy me in "LTM" (well, up to the part before I just gave up); part of the blame goes to the "paint by numbers" writing of her character, but her exaggerated facial expressions and mannerisms really started to bug me.
But then I found out that she was in (when she was just about starting out) one of the 1st K-dramas I had seen (daily called "Tender Hearts") where I thought she was real pretty.
Nice to see that she has been able to show her talents and that her career seems to be taking off.

I love JGW. I hope they give him a meaty part, not not not not anything like the wimpy Romance Town joke.
He was soooo much better and multidimensional in La Dolce Vita and Dr. Champ.
