Daemul (finally!) begins filming
by javabeans
Who knew this day would ever come? After numerous delays and production problems, Daemul has begun filming and released its first stills. Pictured are Go Hyun-jung, who plays the country’s first woman president, and Cha In-pyo as a politician, in a scene where their realistic argument “sparked fireworks,” according to a producer.
Go said laughingly about the shoot: “My character came to debate a differing opinion with [Cha’s character] Kang Tae-san, but Cha In-pyo is so good-looking that my feelings relaxed and I found it difficult to argue with him.”
Daemul has been in the works for several years now, which includes a long pre-production period and its delays. Based on a manhwa, it will premiere next month, beginning October 6. It’ll replace My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho, which means it’ll be running against Playful Kiss and Runaway. Tough timeslot!

Why are there no pictures of Kwon Sang Woo? Daemul may do better in the ratings than MK. Ahjumas determine what to watch in the Korean households. Look at the ratings for Sung. Scandals. Pop idols do not guarantee high ratings.

no. trust.. you need a solid storyline for the drama to succeed. sungskan doesn't. mainly due to the fact the drama and the original book which was very very popular are very different. many of QSD's viewer age included teens as well. korean viewers in general are alot smarter when it comes to watching dramas. they don't just pick dramas to watch because there are hot guys in it. which is alot different i guess to your choice of drama watching.

Yay, I'm so glad this drama finally got off the ground. On the other hand, I feel bad for it because it's in such a tough spot. Go Hyun-jung rocks though so it might do well.

''...but Cha In-pyo is so good-looking that my feelings relaxed and I found it difficult to argue with him.” --- haha, I (heart) her already.
Also, her tough-as-nails, tomboy character in Sandglass is probably the amazingest I've ever seen her, but there's something about these stills here where you can feel the actors' presence just oozing out of them.

CHA IN PYO LOOKS GREATTTTT in those stills. I've always been a big fan of his and he just gets better looking with age *drools*. These two are great actors so this drama is definitely something to look forward to. not really looking forward to the kwon sang woo part but whatevs, must remain optimistic.

Just so like my comment down there, ahihihihi...
Silla around the time of her suicide at QSD (dunno, if she really commited jasal in real life, or even the Hwarang Segi, if you're a doubter...) or even at its height in jinheung's rule, consisted of about 2/3 of present-day South Korea (the cities of Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Incheon, & Ulsan; & the provinces of Gyeonggi, Gangwon, 90-95% of N. Chungcheong, & N. & S. Gyeongsang) & a chunk of North Korea, & so it's just right that she wrested some, 'no?
I can already imagine her past & present life, uttering,
"I-je...Mi-shil-ui si-dae-i-om(b)-ni-da...!"

GHJ will surely give a strong portrayal. Who wouldn't melt in CIP's presence?

I've seen GHJ only in What's Up Fox and I loved her there. My friends raves over her QSD role, and she says the same about her very expressive eyes.
I will definitely watch out for this; I love dramas where women are strong characters.
Reminds me of Mayor Shin Mi Rae, altho' this one is at a much higher level - President.
I haven't seen the lead actor in any drama, he does look like he's become handsomer as he aged. Another reason to watch this :)

or if she wants to play this kind of role, Can we just give her a big ass hanbok and be done with it.

Damn! Go Hyun Jung AND Cha In Pyo in one drama?! I hope the writing can match at least half the talent of these two.
Too bad Kwon Sang Woo couldn't just go away. I already know he's going to be the annoying thorn in the side. Really, I thought after his ridiculous attempt to cover up his obvious drunk driving incident would have made him stay inside his house at least until the end of the year.

Hated and loved Go Hyun Joong in QSD. Hated her character, but loved her acting.Just couldn't wait to see her do her bad deeds every week. I rooted for her and her evil spawn, Bidam (Kim Nam Gil). I thought their characters were so much fun to watch. I hope that DAEMUL will have a great script for both Go Hyun Joong and Cha In Pyo. Will love to watch them interact together. Both are great actors. Hope I will not be disappointed.
Hope they jazz up her wardrobe better. DAEMUL looks real dowdy..

Glad that she ended up doing QSD before Daemul. She's made a career playing progressive role models as well as being, with Kim Sun Ah, the Noona that brings the boys to the yard.
Beauty pageant, Sandglass and divorce created a mystique about her that was viewed with suspicion by many critics. Was she overrated? Why did she get A-list parts and still command A-list salaries?
Mishil was her Blueprint. She played a villain, but her Mishil was the redeeming and transforming narrative of her legacy. Though not even the main star, 2009's biggest show was molded by her will, ratings in tribute to Mishil's glory. Moreover, she was exemplar of defying the conventional wisdom that a 38-year old woman's status on TV/movies. The overrated suspicions abated. Her outlier career, now a singular legacy.
With that victory lap, she returns to Daemul.
In my perfect world, Daemul would be either a Lee Young Ae project, or a reunion between Go Hyun Jung and Lee Jung Jae. (And besides the immense squee meltdown that would come with "Sandglass Resurrection", Lee Jung Jae works a suit like noone but Cha Seung Won.) However, I think Kwon Sang Woo is a great fit here. The character is a younger gigolo. When you picture in your mind's eye a gigolo, who do you see? That's right, the thin white duke playing that white piano on that white beach.
