Kim Ji-soo and Ahn Jae-mo join King Geunchogo
by javabeans
Two more actors have been added to the upcoming KBS sageuk series King Geunchogo, which has already cast Kam Woo-sung (Alone in Love) as the titular king: Kim Ji-soo (Women in the Sun) and Ahn Jae-mo (King and I, Yeon Gaesomun).
This is Kim’s first sageuk and her first drama in two years, since she did Women in the Sun, a drama that netted her a Top Excellence acting award that year from KBS’s drama awards. After that show wrapped, she had been cast in the Tokyo Tower remake project, but that fell apart when her co-star Joo Ji-hoon was indicted for drug charges.
Ahn Jae-mo, meanwhile, plays a central character who is the king’s childhood friend and vassal. Ahn previously worked with director Yoon Chang-beom in his debut role, sageuk King and Queen back in 1998. PD Yoon also did other KBS period dramas Seoul 1945, Age of Warriors, and Empress Myung-sung.
King Geunchogo is set in the Baekje kingdom in the Three Kingdoms era, and although the sageuk genre is a staple in the kdrama landscape, Baekje is lesser-explored dramatic terrain compared to, say, the later Goryeo or Joseon dynasties. King Geunchogo reigned from 346 to 375 A.D.
Filming will begin in early September, and the drama will premiere in October.

oooh I love Gam Wo Sung since I saw him in Alone In Love. His dimple to die for. Kim Ji Soo was ok in Woman in the Sun. Not a fan of saeguk but if there is subs, i'm in for it.
I was sad when KJS split up with Kim Joo Hyuk. after loving each for song long.

Kim Ji Soo is one of my all-time favorite actresses, but her enunciation (her slosh is legend ;) ) will make sageuk a great challenge.
But still, I'm thrilled to see her back.

Heh. I don't really remember her face from WITS (I actually watched the drama for Jung Gyu Woon ;D) but I do remember her absolutely hideous [s] sounds. I know I am a heartless monster ;)

I'm not really a fan of Ahn Jae Mo, but I'm glad to see him get back up again since his long hiatus.

Definitely looking forward to this one. There needs to be at least one decent end of the year drama. :)

She's beautiful in an ethereal way, I'll hand her that. May have to watch this just to see how well she fares in a sageuk.

I was hoping to watch Onjo and Biryu first. I can handle a 50 eps but director Yoon have done some really long sageuk before and this might end up with 100+ eps.

Kim Ji Soo's performance in WOTS was superb. She sure knows how to pull a Jekyll&Hyde act & I absolutely LOVED it!! Can't wait to see her performance in this new upcoming one.
