Jang Young-nam joins I Am Legend
by javabeans
SBS’s upcoming drama I Am Legend has cast its lead, Kim Jung-eun, and now adds Jang Young-nam as her rival.
The drama gets going when Jeon-seol (Kim) has had enough of being mistreated as the daughter-in-law to a snooty family prestigious in legal circles, and files for a divorce. She rediscovers her love of music and puts together a band of “ajumma rockers” (played by Jang Shin-young, Juni, and Hong Ji-min). Meanwhile, she is pitted against Jang’s character, who is a divorce lawyer with a 100% win rate who also happens to be her husband’s new girlfriend.
Jang Young-nam is one of those familiar faces you see all the time who doesn’t really get leading roles but often manages to steal a scene here or there with her comic timing. I’m pleased with this casting, since the role she’s playing is pretty typical stuff and could get boring real fast; I’m counting on her to liven things up. You may recall her as Kim Haneul’s spy sunbae in Level 7 Civil Servant, or the crazy wife in Dal Ja’s Spring; she also had recent roles in movies Harmony, Good Morning President, and Aeja.
Jang also has a few more upcoming film roles lined up: Quiz King and Hello Ghost. Meanwhile, I Am Legend is set for an August premiere.

I think she's the same actress in One Mom and Three Dads as Jae Hee's character's manga manager(?).

I was wracking my brains for a while there trying to remember where I'd seen her before and yes, it was WotS. I like her, she makes a good rival, heh!

I'm intrigued. Also, so the reason Kim Sun Ah decided to drop from this Kdrama was due to writer changes and I think I read that she was unhappy with some of the changes; therefore, she later decided to drop it which is unfortunate.
I still find this Kdrama intriguing and I do like Kim Jung Eun as well. I'm also anticipating Kim Sun Ah's upcoming Kdrama, whatever it may be. I wished she was paired up with Bi Rain in 'Runaway/Fugitive'. She definitely would have helped add charisma to the drama. ;-)

Her potrayal of the crazy wife in Dalja's Spring was cool.
She gave a new meaning to divorced wives who still wanted her husband back.
I like her. A lot.

yes! the crazy wife in dalja's spring!!! she's so ridiculously freaky that it was annoying and brilliant!!
now i want to see her in this really "cool" role as a lawyer - who sounds really cold and snooty. hehe

i just finished watching "Hello Ghost" the ending twist was so good. I watched the ending part three times and cried three times (and I'm a man). and Jang young Nam, just like the article said, she could steal a scene there. Well, at least for me, in the end part of the movie, She managed to play a mother that full of love for his young son and how she was really happy and relieved after her son remembered her again.

I love Jang Young Nam!! I first noticed her recently in Believe in Love she played the divorce lawyer so brilliantly I had to find out more about her work! and wow! she has been in so many movies & shows! not always the main character, but she makes roles intended to be small, so pivotal and noticeable! she has so much versatility! she can play the really tough professional then change to a loud ajumma. AND she's also a stage actress!
i didnt like I am legend cause of the writing, but she was great in that as well. i loved hello ghost, harmony, quiz king! all of it!
she's def my fav actress :) can't wait to see her role in the upcoming film Mr. Idol!
