It's a wonderful film, I hope they don't screw it up. The atmosphere of a developing Hong Kong & its effect of the inhabitants of the city is quite hard to capture in another setting.

if warner bros. does get us rights, it'll probably butcher it by having it dubbed.
i just can't see them releasing it for us television in the original language with subtitles. on dvd, yeah, tv... no.

I do not see the point or it airing on any network outside of a cable special network in the US. It sounds like wringing more money out of the networks.

agreed javabeans - i don't understand how they're going to use it if they buy the rights to it. sure it'll work for china, but for U.S. - ehhhhh. with azn gone and imaginAsian pretty much seemingly nonexistent, there's no real place for it to air. they'll probably package it as a DVD but again, that'll only be to a small niche market - to those people who actually know about the original, and then actually know about the korean drama remake.

I am quite excited about this drama. I can see PYH in LL's role. It was so nice to see LL as a sweet naive guy after acting as a uber cool sexy hitman in WKW's Fallen Angels. They must pick an actor on par with Maggie Cheung for her role. I can only think of Jeon Do Yeon.

Tian Mi Mi is a phrase, it literally means sweet.

Lee Da Hae.....hmm....is she has an appeal enough to pull the rating up ? I don't think so. Especially after her performances in her latest dramas. This drama has been dubbed as a hallyu drama so the female lead is suppose to have that status (hallyu star). And I don't think LDH has that qualification yet. But it's another matter if WB want her instead of others Korean actress who are really a hallyu star. How about Choi Ji Woo or even Yoon Eun Hye (I heard some rumors that she's a strong candidate) ?

@dandy, FYI, LDH is already under hallyu star category, there were many articles abt new generation of Hallyu stars-they listed 5 names and she is one of them together with YEH, Jang Nara, SHG and other actress that I can't recall her name-the news can be found in their soompi thread.

Regarding WB, if they are the selection board, then she got the chance (if she is interested). However, I think the selection board is from Korea side, so other actresses can have a chance as well.

and to add in, they way you demotted her abt pulling the rating, well throughtout her career, only 1 drama (Robbers) out of 7, that got low rating, she got 4 dramas that got 30%.

Well I wish your idol can get the part, cause honestly I'm not interested to see her in this drama..I want her to venture into movie.

Ha..ha..I know it will coming. Every time LDH has been critized tons of her supporters will hurry up trying to save her. But I don't blame you, that's what fans are for. My point is after finishing her latest dramas East of Eden and Chuno LDH is in the lowest of her career. She's not the 1st pick for a lead actress anymore (in Korea) (remember in Chuno she's been casted after Han Hyo Jo canceled her participation). And since Comrades/Love Song is a big project they need someone/actress who can pull of many viewers (popular/top actress). And I doubt LDH can do that NOW. And why I mention YEH name, it's because she has prove her star power by staring in a "not so good" drama but can have good rating (MFL).
@nobody, drama rating didn't determined by actors only but also the story line, PD etc. And by you mentioning that many of LDH's past drama has good rating doesn't mean it's because of her. I'm still not sure LDH has a star power and can pull the rating of if she's given a drama like MFL.

I'm for Lee Da Hae over Yoon Eun Hye, But....

People here are crazy if they are calling a Lee Da Hye as a Hallyu star and YEH as not. I live in Korea and our understanding is that YEH is at the forefront of next generation Hallyu stars. We also call YEH the ultimate celebrity model and CF Queen. So as much as some people here don't like YEH, she is the much bigger than Lee Da Hye in Korea in terms of maket power.

and just in case some people misunderstand.

I'm a huge Lee Da Hye fan..
but Hallyu is based on sales numbers in foreign markets.

and unfortunately Da Hye's numbers don't come close to YEH's numbers..
My Girl had pretty good sales, but it wasn't even close to Goong.
Coffee Prince had beat out Bae Yong Joon's fantasy historical drama, and even the Vineyard man had good sales number.

p/s: although i'm rooting for YEH, i think CJW is the best candidate..she is one of the biggest hallyu star of her generation and i hv no doubt about her acting skill..('',)

I think that Warner Brothers' interest might stem from the growing interest among Americans (beyond just Korean Americans or Asian Americans) for Korean drama. Great writing...great acting... I am totally hooked on Kdrama!

from what i read about this drama remake from other sources..it seem that the producer of this drama want to cast a female hallyu star as the lead. You must remember that KDrama don't target Hollywood as their main market and i think before WB want to buy the right of this drama, this drama maker does not even think about to bring this drama to Hollywood.
ASIA region always become the most important market for KDrama and i think they will take ASIAN market as a priority.

It seems a wrong casting for the male lead. Ji Jin Hee would be a better choice. As the female lead, Choi Ji Woo will be suitable, if it is Ji Jin Hee.

This movie is only for YEH. She is the only one suited for this drama. She is the only favorite Korean super star in Japan, Thailand and all over Asia and even Asians in the United States and all over the world.
