Page One renamed Coffee House
by javabeans
Drama PD Pyo Min-soo‘s upcoming series has a new name, ditching the working title Page One for a new one: Coffee House.
Personally, I think Page One was more suited to the drama’s content, as the story stars Kang Ji-hwan as a bestselling star novelist and Park Shi-yeon as the head of a publishing company. It seems they are trying to capitalize on brand recognition, however, by linking this drama to the director’s 2004 hit Full House (which also featured a writer, albeit a struggling one). Coffee House will be set in “Cafe Page One,” tying in the old title.
This sorta-kinda-almost makes Coffee House the second entry in a “House” themed series of dramas. The two shows don’t seem to have any meaningful connection to each other aside from the title, rather like the “Lovers” trio (Lovers in Paris, Lovers in Prague, Lovers) and the “Season” dramas (Autumn Fairy Tale, Winter Sonata, Spring Waltz, Summer Scent). In fact, I’m hoping that Coffee House will feel more like PD Pyo’s later dramas (The World They Live In, Insoon Is Pretty) than Full House.
Following Kang Ji-hwan’s casting earlier this month, his ex-management company, with whom the actor has been entangled in breach-of-contract disputes, had come out to say that their issues had not been settled. The production, on the other hand, felt that matters had reached enough of a conclusion to cast Kang anyway, confident that he would be ready to begin filming as soon as this month.
A third lead role had been rumored to be going to T-ara singer Ham Eun-jung, but the production has dispelled those claims, saying she is still only one of three contenders. Those three actresses will all go through script readings before a final decision is made, and the final cast list will be announced next week.
The romantic-comedy series comes from writer Song Jae-jung of sitcoms Soonpoong Clinic and Unstoppable High Kick, and will begin filming on April 21. It will follow SBS’s Oh My Lady.

I read about this earlier on Nate, and I was like... WTH? Coffee House? What does a drama featuring a novelist and publishing company have to do with coffee,? I guess they'll figure out something and force it to make sense (like having Kang Ji Hwan spend all his waking hours bumming around in Cafe Page One), but I still think the idea of trying to link it to the title "Full House" is kind of silly. It'll probably also invite idiotic remarks saying it's a Coffee Prince rip-off when it has nothing to do with it (or at least not that we can gather from the premise).

ia, the old name was better. full house + coppee prince? they should have let it make it's own mark. still, who care about ANY of this, 16+ HOURS OF KANG JI HWAN YEAH BABY!!!!!!! <333 idk if i can imagine good chemistry between him and park shi yeon, but since i haven't seen her in anything since my girl yet and the consensus is she's much improved, i'll remain optimistic.

When I saw the title "Coffee House", I immediately flash to an association with "Coffee Prince" and not an association with "Full House".
I think the word Coffee in the title of any drama is bound to evoke instant CP recognition, CP has jacked the word Coffee for the foreseeable future in any drama title, heh.
Excited to see KJH back on the small screen, HGD feels like so long ago.

The name is lame. Everyone knows bestselling writers drink Slurpees.
LOL. I thought bestselling writers are too frugal to afford slurpees, instead drink a multipurpose beverage like water and use what's left to cook ramyun.
Whatever the title is I am truly glad to see KJH doing his best work... that is acting again.

OOh. Ooh. Ooh.
:D
Wow. After Siwon goodness, it's KJH better-ness. (I think JB would say 'greatness')
Nice.
Page One was a nicer name. More poetic. Heee...word, JB. PD-nim, please direct in the way of Insoon Is Pretty (I like the direction more than Full House direction)...
Sigh. There goes my drama list. I'm still pending Cinderella Sister and Personal Taste and and and...
